I'm proud to announce that as of 1:05am central time May 6th, 2018 I am no longer just a lurker and leach of the Indie hacker community! :)) So I'm starting this thread for a couple of reasons:
For any lurkers turned Indie Hackers to tell the world about their first Indie project, how they got the courage to launch, and request feedback on them!
So I'll start. I just launched my first public project called the Race to 100 million (still working on it, would love feed back!) . The Idea is simple: using a page counter and a hopefully obvious call to action (to share the website) to see if it is feasible to get 100 million page views ( or nuggets). And if it is successful use it as my very own traction channel for future projects and maybe even monetize it along the way. I built it because I got tired of being all bark and no bite when it came to actually building stuff, even just simple and stupid stuff. A good friend challenged me to build 1 simple app a week, so this is just the first one (stay tuned for the next one!) I also wanted to grow my skills at building web apps with bubble.is, and see how far they can take me. So if any of you would be kind enough to post it on Product Hunt or Hacker News I'd love you forever!
Lastly, on a personal level, and not to sound like a downer or sappy, I'm a 19 year old black dude from North Louisiana and I've lived in poverty for most of my life. One of my biggest fears is being trapped in this cycle of government assistance my whole life and not being able to provide for my future spouse and family. But from the stories, podcast interviews, and community I know now that doesn't have to be m fear anymore. So I thank God so much for providing me with this community and the inspiring and encouraging people in it!
I look forward to building with you guys! Please post your Lurker to Hacker story here!
