In this article, I will talk about an issue that I see all over the internet and from the probably thousands of Landing pages I’ve analyzed it’s one of the biggest problems I see with most Landing pages.

It has to do with how you explain your product on a Landing page you create yourself. Since you created the product (or are at least very conscious of how it works) you will be very biased on how to explain it properly to potential customers and figuring out what they really need info on before they buy from you.

This can be holding you back RIGHT NOW since you might have something customers would love to pay for but they perceive the value you are offering properly, in this article I’ll tell you how to fix it.

Also, this isn’t something you can fix forever as it’s human nature, happens EVERY TIME! If you follow the steps at the end you will be able to step back of your “biased view” and come up with the right content for your website.

The reason behind this Bias

This only happens because you are also the one building the product which results in a very biased view of what questions potential customers might have, what would be more useful to them and how you can sell them properly.

You are too focused on building the product this will happen all the time, it’s the trap of every founder/ indie hacker.

So please, don’t fall in love with your ideas and your views of the product 😅

What potential customers see on your Landing page

  • What YOU think they need.
  • What YOUR favorite features are.
  • YOU already know how it works, so it’s very hard to explain how it works.
  • How YOU think that product would be useful.
  • Explaining what YOU think it’s important.

Don’t worry, there’s a process to fix this!

Since you will be focusing on too much on what YOU think your potential customers need or what you should put on a landing page you’ll need to follow a few questions to get you back into the right perspective.

Just ask yourself:

  • What are the frequently asked questions about the product?
  • If you have users, where do they spend the most time?
  • Who can benefit from this the most? Many times it reveals the core benefit of your product/service.
  • From your customer/market research, what keeps showing up the most?
  • Where are people already spending money on to fix something similar to what you are fixing?
  • What objections come up when you try to sell this to someone?
  • If you have visitors use Hotjar to check where they leave and/or spend the most timing on.

Want another formula to turn into this into an awesome Landing page? Here’s another article for that.

Final thoughts

If you answer all of these questions and put them on a document you should have laid out the right content for your Landing page, you’re welcome!

Next time you come up with a Landing page, product idea or a launch make sure you go back to this so you don’t lose any customers 👍
