I just recorded a podcast that walks-through this but I wanted to post something on Indie Hackers too because it was a huge part of my story.

About 60 days ago I launched a new service where I basically find high-quality remote graphic design jobs and projects for freelance designers.

I started at $0 and today, it's at about $2.5k in MRR.

The reason for that is I didn't try to re-invent the wheel.

I took my existing service (that was actually featured on IH a while back here) and redesigned it using a better, proven business model.

Where did I find that business model?

IndieHackers!

I was reading the Scotts Cheap Flights interview and I began to notice similarities between my service and theirs.

Although I had never thought about it in this way, seeing how successful their business model was - helped me revise my idea for what my product could be.

Using their freemium model (where they give away 1/4th of the alerts they send out), I relaunched my service - and it's basically created a flywheel for me.

Instead of having to find projects AND write content that sells the service, I now just send out the awesome projects and people upgrade if they want more.

Because they already know exactly what they're getting, it's made retention and customer satisfaction a lot better.

I dive into it in a bit more detail on the podcast but I do want to thank Indie Hackers again. It wasn't just the Scott's interview it was also the discussions  in the community.

And if anyone is looking for a great remote designer, I'd love to feature your project or job with my special group of designers on Folyo.
