Friday Edition: Daily Stand Up!
Why?
That extra nudge of accountability to achieve even a small step on your IH journey each day.
To join in:
01 Share your epic (a big chunk of work with a meaty objective) you'd like to complete by the end of February.
02 Share what you accomplished yesterday.
03 Share what you commit to accomplishing today.
04 Comment on at least one fellow hacker's progress and give them an IH Point for their check in.
Optional:
05 Share your Work In Progress to underscore your accomplishments.
Then tune in the tomorrow to share how you did on your own tasks!
Feeling really good about the product the last few days. I'm super anxious for the new updates I'm pushing this Sunday, and excited to leap into executing on the product refinements I've outlined while doing my research this week. Been a long haul on this one, but I'm nearing alpha and it feels amazing.
BY END OF 2019
AutomatedApi.com will have 10+ paying users
FEBRUARY EPIC
ALPHA Launch
get customer facing website updated and deployed
Yesterday
[Backend] Finished documenting my approach to open api implementation so I can finalize my code faster and with a more organized approach.
[Customer Facing] Did some considerable work on the new landing page so I could offer some pre-release pricing for early adopters
[Customer Contact] I've crafted an email that'll pair with the launch of the new landing page this Sunday.
Today:
[Customer Facing] Prep for video recording to coincide with pre-release landing page publish
[Backend] Do some documentation of planned security support
[Backend] Stub in some new code generation code to support more OpenApi components for alpha launch planned for late Feb.
KUDOS: forgot to update yesterday so here's a two-fer:
@AndrewV brisaboards.com looks great! I'll be adding that to my annual cycle through the world of productivity tools. Looking forward to what comes next.
@mikefogg love the new landing page! applight is on my list for future concepts and suggestions to fellow startup would-be wunderkind.
WIP
AutomatedApi.com
Do you have any beta users yet?
Not quite yet, going into a closed alpha in a couple weeks.
Definitely communicating with some folks though.
There is certainly some interest here...and doubt. Maybe that's justified given that I intend to mostly automate generation of basically the whole data layer, which could save a ton of companies boatloads of money on developer time and design resources.
Yeah! Landing page love all around :)
Thanks for the shoutout, and sorry for the delayed response!
It's got a long way to go, and hopefully the beta testers will be helping me determine what (if anything) sets it apart and makes it worthwhile :)
@jpusateri I wouldn't mind giving you feedback about your video and landing pages. Send me a link when you're ready.
EPIC

I suppose I'll take another crack at this damn image uploader.
Brainstorm creative ways to get chicks on the site.
KUDOS: @jpusateri Meant to give a shout out earlier this week for finding time for the finer people in your life!
WORK IN PROGRESS: Happy Endings
@Harlem have you thought about having someone else debug the image uploader? That would give you more time to debug the distribution/onboard of more female users. Or is the image uploader challenge exciting for you to solve?
(Smiling) I wish it were a matter of debugging. Each iteration has worked as intended. But after chatting with users, I've recently "refactored" my thoughts re requiring customers to add photos. And now need to change the code to reflect the change of heart.
But I hear you, sis. Eyes on the prize. I need to make good on my epic!
Gotcha... so the image uploader was your way of on-boarding users w/out friction on their end and now you're at a point that that task is ready for the user.
There gotta be an open source of this common feature esp from photo/social project/apps/startups that lost steam/close up shop.
Not exactly.
My first image uploader was a damn free for all. The result? Too many damn dick pics. (Ugh.)
Next up, I added a touch of ML by means of Face Recognition. That's proven to be too damn restrictive. And ultimately, some folks just don't want a put a face with their words.
So now I'm on image strategy #3. Don't force folks to put up a face, but if they don't put up a face, I'll give them a lovely avatar instead.
Haven't had a chance to touch this due to my day gig + commitment to marketing, But hopefully, I can make something happen this weekend!
Got it... well good luck w/ strategy 3 this weekend.
EPIC
As part of my effort to focus, I will be posting here slightly less often. But I value the little community forming here, so I'll be back every few days.

Have 5 paid users for Vimalin for Windows.

YESTERDAY:
TODAY:
That the help of my application's help is done via the website, made it worse in this case. So fixing this first.
KUDOS:
Kudos to @csallen for fixing the IH website. I'm sure you had plenty of other things on your mind instead of working on that.
WORK IN PROGRESS
Automated Virtual Machines for VMware desktop products https://vimalin.com
Saw this and thought of you. Marketing op?
Thanks, there are VMware User Group meetings all over the world.
We have one here in Holland in a couple of months. I looked at the possibility of presenting, but they don't allow presentations from vendors. Perhaps having a booth is a possibility, but expect prices of > $1000 and with just over a 1000 attendees I don't think it is money well spent. However I do intend to attend this year as a visitor. Something I haven't done for almost a decade either.

Prepare for launch: 44% complete
Yesterday
[Teambuilding] Got an inquiry for someone who would like to help on the project. This is the second such inquiry in a week, and a good sign
[Marketing] Minor but important landing page adjustments. Need to focus now on problem-solution. I know this... but keep forgetting
[App Feature] Started and Finished a MASSIVE important feature I wasn't sure was going in the MVP until recently.. in-app voice memos! It involved a ton of backend, DB, UI, and app coding but is super clean and I LOVE IT
[Punting] Did a test Android build. It wasn't pretty, but at least I know it will compile and run (a little). Not part of the release plan for now
[Marketing] Posted in a FB group. Saw a big spike in traffic to the site.. but not the signups I was looking for. At least the app interest is gaining ground, a little
[Marketing] Made a 45 second version of my app promo video, but it's expensive to export from Renderforest, and I'm trying to bootstrap :) So it will wait a bit
Today
Kudos
@Harlem for giving me some killer landing page feedback
