0% churn on everydayCheck so far! :P (won't last long!)

Hehe, it's early May and it's now been one year since the first paid users started coming in on everydayCheck. Since I have a yearly recurring payment, I had no way to calculate the churn other than checking who was actually using the app! But now, the first two users renewed so I like to think I have 0% churn hehe :P This will obviously change soon but it's good for motivation!

Just wanted to give a heads up! :P

I like that idea, it's very IndieHacker-like in itself, keep it up :)

      thanks! :P

    Congrats! 🙌

I'll also keep my fingers crossed, that is a good baseline to have!

I like the idea of everyday check, out of the active users that you have, do they also check in every day (so are they really active)? When you were able to make a habit forming product it probably is sticky.

Also do you give them a warning before the annual payment term runs off, or will they discover when the card is charged again?

Great questions! My main goal now is to improve engagement. To make the app more sticky. However, since it's sticky by itself, I don't need to come up with more annoying notifications, I just need to make the app more useful! For example, I have been working on a mobile app that I hope to release soon, I think (or have the hopes!) that will make a difference! Answering more specifically, about the 50% of the subscribed check in every day (yay!!), 70% once a week, the rest tend to either lose the habit to use the app or are certain dropouts. I need to improve this numbers!

Yes, I send an email 1 month before the subscription is over to remind them to unsubscribe if they aren't interested in renewing. Some people have cancelled the subscription but answered the email thanking me and also giving me some feedback! It's awesome :) You can very easily unsubscribe and resubscribe from the settings. I think it's important that users feel in control, because I like to feel in control when using other apps.

:) Well...I'm not sure how to take this post, the cynic in me sees like an excuse to advertise your product(why put the link then?)... because you can't say you have 0% churn when only 2 users renewed(assuming you don't have only 2 users)

Totally okay for people to link to their products here.

    2. 4

Of course you can take it as that. One of the first lessons I learnt out of IndieHackers over a year ago was that I had to talk about my product to everyone and everywhere. Even if I hadn't added a link to the product, IndieHackers offers you to link to your product if it's a related post. This way, the timeline of the product is formed. I think it's a pretty neat feature of this site that I haven't used enough. Also, about the 0% churn that's precisely the point of this post, I obviously have many more users, but since now it's been one year since the first users came in, and I have a Yearly subscription plan I had to wait a full year to see who would renew to start properly calculating churn :) If you are curious, I have 12.5% churn right now :) (1 out of 8 failed to renew :-( )

    Congrats👍

Btw why your site loading so slow? i try to access your site, but it's take a long loading.

Oops, I need to do some improvements in that regard. My hosting is in France right now and that's why in Europe it should be pretty much immediate. However I have to admit I was considering moving it to amazon (US). I'll try to figure out a good solution so that it also works well in Asia, sorry about that and thanks for the feedback! :p

loading it was pretty fast for me (France)

      1. 1

yeah maybe depend server location? I'm access it from indonesia (Asia)

        1. 1

That's mostly is the issue. Currently in Vietnam and sites do respond slower than connecting from Europe.

Sure thing, let me know when I can test them and I'll be happy to provide feedback. Still learning, will start accepting freelance work soon-ish.

I have a similar app on Android - Streaks. Though it's just a one time purchase. :(
