If you want to be really SAFE don't raise money from friends and family. Losing other peoples money tends to have a negative impact on your relationship with them. There is an 80% probability of that outcome materializing. There are two things one can deduce from this: this can and well and it probably doesn't.

I've always thought about this. I hear so many stories of tensions rising between family members when things don't go as planned.

As much as I would appreciate the leg up; for me it just wouldn't feel right mixing family/friends and business.
