When I read, I normally I go for non-fiction business-related books, coding books or biographies. But, occasionally I'll read some fiction.
I recently finished reading Bad Blood, which tells the story of the Theranos scandal. Although it's actually factual, it reads like fiction.
It got me thinking that I'd like to read some more fiction books. I'm planning on reading the Uncommon Series by Eliot Peper after reading his interview here on IH.
So, does anyone have any recommendations for startup/business fiction books? Would love to hear what you've been reading!
A true story book, that also can be read as a fiction because of how well its written, is The hard thing about hard things!
Loved reading it, one of my best startup/business book so far!
YOU MUST READ IT ;)
That is one book I am ashamed to say I haven't read yet! Heard so many good things, but this has now bumped it to the top of the list.
Cheers!
Well, I hope you'll like it as much as I did, but for me it's THE best book I ever read related to IT.
The second one is Start small, stay small - by Rob Walling
Thanks Cyril! That's another one that is on my reading list.
So much to read and so little time! 🙂
Both books I am going to mention are not fiction but are very fun to read/listen to.
+1 for the hard thing about hard things
I can also recommend;
Shoe dog; fun read with some good lessons along the way
The third door; this book surprised me. I can recommend the audiobook of this read by the author.
Perfect! I've read Shoe Dog before and loved it. Would actually be worthwhile reading it again, as it was so valuable.
Never heard of The Third Door before, but just checked it out on Amazon and it looks great! Currently listening to Anything You Want by Derek Sivers (can't believe I'm only just listening to this now), but that's a really short book, so will listen to The Third Door next for my next audiobook.
Thanks for the recommendations 👍
No problem Matt! Enjoy!
Putting "Anything you want" on my wishlist as well, never heard of the book 🤔.
It's great so far. I started listening to it on the bus home last night. The audiobook is only an hour and a half long and is actually read by Derek Sivers himself, which sets the perfect tone.
I just finished Shoe Dog. I think it is just super awesome. At least, injecting spies in rival companies is just funny

Cheers Dan! 👍
Seen that book pop up in searches before, but never actually read it. Will be sure to add it to the list.
I had in the past collected a bunch of recommendations from a set of popular folks that I was following. Maybe it might help you find good books to read - http://www.highlyreco.com/explore
That's an awesome collection! Thanks a lot for sending the link. Will definitely read the recommended books on there! 🙌
I am glad you liked it!
There's this one: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/34797997-startup. It's a novel about people working in startups. Quiet funny!
Ah brilliant! I recognise that cover, so must have seen it somewhere before.
Will definitely check it out. Thanks!
Rolling Rocks Downhill
I didn’t realise it was fiction until after I finished.
Haha, looks great! Added to my reading list. Thanks!
i would recommend to check Patrick M. Lencioni: The Five Temptations of CEO and others and Walter Isaacson books: The Innovators, Einstein, Benjamin Franklin biography books.
Perfect. Haven't read any of those yet. Thanks for the recommendations! 🙌
This might not exactly fit your requirements, but is worth a mention. It was fun to read, but sometimes the main thread of "finding the truths" of a successful business was becoming boring. Other than that, an enjoyable read.

I've actually read that one before. Great book! Got me thinking a lot about how product delivery and made me re-evaluate processes.
Good recommendation, thanks!
