Ask IH: Idea to take songbox forward. Thoughts welcomed.

Hi,

I've been getting more traction on SongBox since I launched my "how we're different to Soundcloud" page (thanks to everyone who gave me feedback on that).

Interestingly, many folk are voicing the same sentiment... that soundcloud sucks, but it's the only circus in town. Many people (relatively speaking) have asked me to give SongBox a public facing side so that users can have a page that anyone can visit and hear their music.

To the uninitiated, SongBox's core function is the private (one to one) sharing of your demos with people in the industry who you want to hear them; record label execs, publishers, radio station programmers, journalists etc.

So I'm thinking... this could be a key pivot as it will add to the "shareability" of the product. Right now because it's an industry tool, there isn't much sharing, in the viral sense, going on.

The problem: giving away a free tier that lets users share music publicly could potentially cost me a fortune in streaming fees.

Thoughts??
