Become a community ambassador and bring together indie hackers in your city

Hi everyone! We launched our meetups feature recently, and we're looking for community ambassadors to volunteer to organize Indie Hackers meetups in your city on a regular basis.

You'll be collaborating with me, @channingallen, and other community ambassadors to help grow a real community of indie hackers in your city. Even something as simple as monthly dinners or coffee shop co-working sessions would be great. We'd eventually like to experiment with doing things like shipping you Indie Hackers swag to give out, etc.

If you're interested, fill out this short form and I'll get back to you: https://airtable.com/shrH3FggzE27LVgLL

Hello - I live in Canberra - just saying hi!

  8. 2

Tokyo: we have a monthly Hacker News meetup [0][1] and also a Slack with auto-signup [2].

It's only loosely affiliated with the main Hacker News and a lot more maker friendly. See for example our AMA with @patio11 [3].

For clarity, Tokyo is a big city and there absolutely would be space for an Indie Hackers meetup too, particularly if it had a different format and so was complementary.

That is if someone had the energy to organize one! (Sorry cannot offer that - live too far out from the centre.)

The existing Hacker News meetup is an evening meetup in a bar in Roppongi, of mostly English speaking ex-pats. There is a breakout session where people can make announcements, but that's about it.

coffee shop co-working sessions would be great

    That would probably work ...?

Also on meetup.com - type Tokyo in the search box - there's a ton of other stuff going on!

What project are you working on? Shoot me an email (jonathan@tribefive.me) - let's meet up and say hello!

  41. 1

So, I'd probably be interested in doing this once. However, I can't commit to weekly / monthly / etc. organizing a meetup. I could probably find a sponsor, and hold the event, plan a speaker etc. However, not sure if that would be helpful. Want to help this community in anyway I can, but might not be a community ambassador.
