Hey fellow hackers,
A few months ago, I submitted a side project to Betalist and was considering paying to upgrade my listing. They have two options: $299 and $129.
I held off, unconvinced that my project was ready and unsure about the traffic it would generate.
This past Friday, my project, Feature Audit, ended up being featured and the stats for "/?ref=betalist" traffic over the past three days, Fri/Sat/Sun has been:
64 pageviews
52 uniques
4:00 avg time on page
3 new users
Just wanted to publish this for the sake of transparency for other hackers wondering about the traffic they should expect and if your LTCV turns those numbers into a profit.
Keep hacking,
Brian
Have a look at Coee Network for a better alternative.
Nice offer!
Thank you for the information. I did post my product with the free plan and it is still under review. I'm glad I didn't pay for it.
If it's under review for too long (few weeks), reach out to them and ask if everything is ok. I did that and Rabia was very responsive and helpful. They scheduled my product on the next week after I reached out.
The results were not that great (similar to Brian), but if it's free, why not?
Good luck!
Thank you! I will try to reach them.
Muna was featured two weeks ago. it was "under review" for about three months. Some of the numbers after a few days (don't have up-to-date numbers at hand): 300 visits, 36 new accounts created, and new paying customer.
I got very similar results and a ton of spam marketing emails from other companies as a bonus. I don't know if I did something wrong or it's just generally not worth it.
To be clear – I used their free option
Wow, it does not sound good. You can get better results by writing on some board or subreddit.
I used their free plan and I was in the queue for 5 to 6 months which gave me the time to pivot. When I got published they had the old pitch and material - I wish I had a chance to submit some changes beforehand or after. They gave me a warning but from memory, it was half a day buffer between "hey we'll post this, and them publishing it". I did not see a big boost in visits so I did not care too much about changing the content. I did receive a few cold emails though.
I think it's a good idea and service, but I think that they should be more transparent about what you get for the pricing. I would not have been happy if I paid $200 for the traffic.
On a side note, I registered my product to https://stackshare.io and got featured in a newsletter automatically. That was pretty great to get signups and I'd recommend it if you can.
I got good results with BetaList (free). My waiting period was close to 3 months, but once it was published my project (https://crono.app) got about 200 new users and a couple of websites reviewed my project after seeing it on Betalist.
I posted my project (stuckd.com) almost 2 months ago under the free plan, and it's still under review...
As a comparison, I posted also on betabound.com (free) and I got 41 users, and 10 of them signed up (which is not too bad)
I posted pulseproduct.com there late last year, and got 200 - 300 visitors and a good number of signups for the mailing list.
Now they accept recently launched startups, so I just submitted it again on the free plan. Last time it took me 2 or 3 months waiting on this free plan....so if I don't get approved soon, I'll just pay. In the meantime, I can improve the product.
I had a very simmlar with a free posting. 2 sign ups for the mailing list.
I got a bit more than 200 email signups for TeamCal. I used the $129 option. Around 50-60 people signed up in the end but most didn't stick around. Mostly because they weren't the right customers for TeamCal. I would argue that the typical Betalist user is someone who likes to try/experience new things on a regular base. Nevertheless I got some good feedback. Betalist also created a Medium post which brought me some paying customers a couple of months later which was great.
I got 200 something email signups, but this was a year and a half ago. More recently my latest app was in the queue for 5 months, then rejected..
Interesting. I think it varies a lot too depending on the product and probably product category too.
I posted habit.fm (I used the $129 plan because I'm impatient) and that generated ~250 views, 50 email signups and in the end 1 Daily Active User. Haha its a small win for me.
Thanks interesting stuff!
