I have been thinking over the weekend between this two ideas:-
A) A product as a service whereby you can be able to hire a writer for your business for $250/mo.This is an on-demand content written for your business by professionals for a flat monthly fee.
B) A product as a service whereby you can be able to hire a graphic designer for unlimited pinterest images design for $250/mo flat rate
Personally, I am well versed with both scopes and I wanted to start with one among the two and I kindly request for your feedback on which is the best to start with!
Hi @Eli2,
I'm a co-founder at draftss.com, a productized unlimited graphic design service.
I'd be happy to assist you with any questions that you may have related to option B.
HiJunaid, much grateful for reaching out to help me with regards to unlimited graphic design service.Congratulations for hitting $3K MRR.I am interested in channels that you have used for customer acquisation, retention rate and how I can quickly get to $2K MRR as that's my target before December
Why label or restrict it for just 2 service offering, why cant you make a generic product, which offers various services at monthly flat fee . which includes Writer, Designers, Coders etc etc.
IMO he should do the exact opposite. Niche down even more. Don't do Pinterest designs. Do Pinterest designs for fitness instructors (or something).
Thanks alot
Kunal Kumar Shah , I agree with you for need of a generic product. For starting up, i was of the opinion of handling a particular niche and scale it
I tried (earlier this year) with an 'unlimited' 'productized' content as a service, but found that it wasn't scalable unless I could employ a lot of highly qualified staff, so I've just launched https://www.contentfever.co.uk which is a blog writing service for small businesses in the UK at a price point that I can make a profit and scale with only a few good staff.
One more thing. And this is why opinions and assumptions mean nothing and testing is everything....You might want to reconsider your "unlimited" mindset. You're using "Unlimited" to try and attract customers but you might want to consider, what types of customers that word will attract.
In business, there is something called the Price Quality relationship and when prices go down, it inevitably affects the quality. Offering truly unlimited services, means it's impossible that the quality is high. I think for writing content, quality matters so for this type of business, unlimited might not be a good approach.
There is where marketing/branding chops come in handy.
If I were you, I would just research all your competitors and then either directly copy the most successful companies or put your own spin on their approach. Remember, especially for a content creation service, it's not all about price. Your value is determined by other factors like convenience, expertise, customer references, speed, availability, capabilities, etc.
Thanks a lot Jeff! The customer is the end goal
You shouldn't use the answers you get here in your decision because our opinions are no better or worse than yours. Actually, our opinions are probably worse than yours if none of us have experience selling these types of services.
To make your decision, you have to ask yourself these types of questions.
Is my priority making money over every other factor?
Which business has more stressful clients?
Which business has more customer turnover?
Which business is easier to recruit talent?
Which business do you think you beat all of your competitors in?
Which business is less risky from a lawsuit standpoint?
Which business is easier to get new customers?
The first question is the most important question to answer because it answers all the remaining questions and will make the choice clear and easy for you, but it probably won't make you enjoy the business as much, which is why business is hard and not for everyone. I'm not saying business isn't for you, I'm saying it's hard for every single person because more money always equals more stress, work, risk, etc. Humans don't love stress but they love money, so it's a constant struggle, unless you're one of the lucky few who get to make a living doing what they truly love to do.
My main point is that our opinions don't matter because only you know how much value you place the factors/questions above. The more we know about your personality type and what you value in life, the more useful and objective our opinions can be.
And if your original question was actually, "which business is more profitable?" Posting this type of question here is also useless, because there's only one way to find out which business will be more profitable when you are running the show.
Hope that makes sense.
Asante sana sana, thanks a lot
Give the will of your own imagination and impeccably fulfill the task set by the teacher. Incompatible things? Unless? We offer you the second part of the series of essays at https://cheapessaywriter.net/ about how to create academic texts. Today we learn to write an essay correctly.
At Customerly we tried a product like your B idea and it was a mess. It would be great to have something like that. But that's not a reasonable price to have good quality work imho.
At least this was one experience we had with a similar offer.
Hi Luca, how did it go and will you mind to share more on the learnings apart from pricing
Not well actually. The material produced was not good and we lost a lot of time back and forth with the designer to have something decent.
We decided to hire a freelance designer on a commission that outperformed our expectation.
My personal feedback: we knew what we wanted from our design, we started searching who was close to that design ideas and then we tried her.
With the product as a service, you will never know who will be your designer and if they share the style you have in mind.
Thanks alot, will work on that
Unlimited graphic design and unlimited writing both sound like they can get costly for you to run.
That aside, I'd say go with one where you have access to market (customers). Is it cheaper for you to acquire a subscriber who needs writing services or graphic design services?
its cheap to acquire for graphic design as the need is very straightforward.I agree with you it's costly to run as we have recurring flat costs too
I think A would be super useful, In a previous life I worked with https://contently.com/ the hardest part was matching up our requirements with their writers. Just make sure you know enough about a particular topic and you're clear on the style of content.
Sure I agree with you. I understand right now they have hit 20K MRR.Thanks for your genuine feedback
Both of these would work well. So would hiring developers for a flat rate, SEO experts for a flat rate etc. The real question here is if it is sustainable. Is "unlimited pinterest images" for @250/month really possible? What if I sign up and ask for 500 images?
There are services that successfully do this already, they just don't do the "unlimited" part of it
sure I agree with you, in the long run sustainability will be very key! I will check into how others are fairing on and how they have managed to scale to profitability.thanks for your feedback
I don't think anyone can say which one will work best. I know I'd use both, provided you delivered what promised. I would probably use design more.
I would think it differently. Which one you have more experience with? Are you a graphic designer or a writer? Do you know designers/writers you could use? Which one is easier for you to start today?
Thanks Panos, personally have done both for past 1 year and I wanted to scale the service now. Thanks for your great feedback
I can imagine the graphic design would attract more interest, however you could potentially mix both of these services into one.
Thanks Leke, sure let me sample more feedback and see what next.Great for your feedback!
