Can I see your side-project(s)?

Hello, IndieHackers!

I was curious if I could see all of the projects you currently have up and are working on. I am relatively new around here and it'd be cool to see what's going on. I'm sure other people will take a look as well :)

  1. 13

Hi! Are you working on anything yourself? I'm working on https://www.checkbot.io/.

Checkbot is a Chrome extension that tells you how to improve the SEO, speed and security of your website.

It crawls your pages looking for broken links, duplicate content, invalid HTML, insecure forms and more. It's worth checking your own side project website as it'll likely find problems you've missed from manual testing. 😄Checkbot is free right now but I'm working on setting up a paid plan soon.

    1. 4

      This product is super awesome.

    2. 3

I am currently not, as I'm busy with my education, but I'm working my way there!

      Great project, Sean.

      Checkbot looks wonderful.

    3. 3

Man, you'll become very rich with that product. Well done. Just tried on my site. It's bloody awesome!

    4. 2

I have tried it, very cool :)

    5. 2

This is awesome!! thanks for sharing and well done!

    6. 2

Oh perfect. I was just about to look for something like this for my own side project. Thank you!

    7. 2

Love the landing page, well done

      Checking the product now :)

      1. 1

Thanks, appreciated! I was aiming for a fast website (as that's what the project promotes) that also looked good so it required a lot of tweaking. The whole landing page is less than 0.25MB to load.

        1. 2

          Thats awesome, keep it up

  2. 8

    I love threads like this!

I've been working on https://ceev.io in my free time over the past few months. Traffic has been beating my expectations, and it has been a super fun project to work on.

    1. 1

Hey @mitchs - what job sites are you pulling your data from? I'm working on www.techjobsforgoood.com and would love for my jobs to be featured on your site!

      1. 1

Hey there! The jobs section is pretty new, and right now it only pulls from ZipRecruiter. I'm thinking about where to go with the jobs section - I'm thinking about just adding many more sources to pull from for now. I see your site has a feed, so I have added it to my list of sources for if I ever get around to making that change :)

    2. 1

      Love the style!

    3. 1

Sounds great. I'm going to try it out too.

    4. 1

Liked it. Easy to understand and use.

    5. 1

Love the design - I'm going to give it a try later tonight

    6. 1

Oh, it's good. Unfortunately can't delete my account completely :)

      1. 1

Whoops! Looks like a bug - I guess I forgot to test the delete account functionality last deploy.

I'll get it fixed, but if you send me an email at hello@ceev.io or use the chat on the site, and let me know your email address for the account, I will delete it for you!

  3. 6

Hey! I'm working on a job board for people who want to find meaningful tech jobs. I'd appreciate any feedback you have :)

    https://www.techjobsforgood.com

    1. 1

Awesome @nahart! I’m working on a somewhat related site called Employbl that helps people find companies that they want to work at. I’m adding a tag for some companies that are either non-profit or have a social good aspect to the company mission. It’d be awesome to collaborate! https://employbl.com/

      1. 1

Hey @connor11528 - Your site looks great! I'd be happy to collaborate. Shoot me an email at noah@techjobsforgood.com with some more info on how I can help and we can figure something out!

  4. 5

Hello we work on a blog as our side project, called ' Take The Bait' https://www.veed.io/takethebait/ it's about how profitable startups built their MVPs & found their very first customers!

    1. 2

Wow you are working on some of the coolest project David

      1. 1

        Thank you bro :)

    2. 1

What's the tech stack behind workforthem?

      1. 2

Hey the language is PHP :)

        1. 2

          Any Laravel love?

  5. 5

It's still in alpha (functioning backend + landing page), but I'm working on www.followAlong.co, which lets you subscribe to specific people on Hacker News and get updates when they post.

    1. 2

what a great idea. I immediately had that "why didn't I think of this?" feeling. hope it goes well, I just signed up for updates.

      1. 1

Thanks so much! That's super encouraging! The email should be in your inbox :)

  6. 4

I'm working on something a little bit different, a curated weekly newsletter on SaaS marketing :) tldr.coreyhaines.co and you can find old issues there as well

  7. 4

Welcome! I'm working on a collaborative artist community where folks have fun with comic strips one panel at a time... www.StripTogether.co

    1. 3

Ha so love the domain name!

      1. 1

        It's a joke I'm proud of, that's for sure :D

    2. 1

Great design to match your product!

      1. 1

Hey thanks! Design's what I went to school for, but I've never been able to keep away from code :)

  8. 3

    I'm working on two things:

https://frontendremotejobs.com is a job board featuring remote only jobs for front end developers.

I'm also working on guide to accessibility for web developers: https://benrobertson.io/accessibility-for-web-developers

I'll be launching an email course on common accessibility mistakes and how to avoid them in the next couple of week to build my email list.

    1. 2

Hey can I ask how you get jobs to put on your site? Do you do any scraping (if so from where?) or do you just allow people to post on their job openings on your site? Really love the simplicity and elegance of your design btw!

      1. 2

Currently I'm manually curating the job posts from several other popular remote job sites. I plan to do this until I get a decent amount of traffic, and then ideally people will pay me directly to post jobs on my site. We'll see 😃

Thanks for the compliment! I don't fancy myself to be much of a designer, so that means a lot!

  9. 3

Hi, I've been around for quite some time now. I am working on https://www.textr.app, a web app that gives you a SMS inbox online :)

  10. 2

I'm working on KanbanMail, a Kanban board for your emails!

  11. 2

Ruby tests can be faster with better auto-balancing them across parallel CI nodes with a tool I created https://knapsackpro.com

I started this at the beginning as a free open source gem called knapsack and then created more advanced tool knapsack_pro :)

  12. 2

Hey. I'm currently redesigning https://totalcalc.com. I'm hoping I can launch a BETA of the redesign next week or next weekend.

    My other projects include:

    https://pandaconversion.com

    https://cryptocactus.com

    https://randompickers.com

    https://isfortnitedown.com

    https://lebronvsmichael.com

Most of them were made just for fun. I have many more in the pipeline for the next few months. Making small side projects has been a hobby of mine for a few years.

    Are you working on anything?

  13. 2

    I’ve just launched https://Songbox.rocks

It’s a demo management platform for musicians. When you send songs to people via SongBox you get granular data back on who is listening to what songs, when they listened and how many times they listened etc.

  14. 2

Here are some fun webgl visualizations I've built:

Interactive 3D view of meteor showers from space

    https://www.meteorshowers.org

Dinosaur database/globe that lets you look up your address on Pangea (+ up to 700M years ago)

    http://dinosaurpictures.org/ancient-earth

  15. 2

    Hi!

I'm working on a small website where users can guess movies from emojis: https://guessmoji.io. If you're interested on the source code, here's the GitHub repository: https://github.com/elomarns/guessmoji.

    1. 1

I had a good fun with this one!

      1. 1

I'm glad you had fun! :)

  16. 2

    Hi there!

I'm working with a few friends on an app that allows you to listen to news and articles by adding a URL --> https://www.eariously.com/

I'm curious, what are you working on now?

  17. 2

I've been playing around with healthy, balanced ways to stay informed about American politics/issues.

    Here's my latest attempt > https://birdseyenews.org

    1. 2

This is real neat - I've looked into the problem before, and in the past considered making timelines or maps of news stories so you can see how things spread... but damn, I love the simplicity of this solution!

      1. 1

I'd love to get your view of potential solutions Matthew. Feel free to email me at ryanjyost at gmail dot com, and let me know if I can help you somehow!

  18. 2

    https://contentjet.github.io

I'm new to IH too. Lots of great projects on here 😃

    1. 1

This looks like it could be real handy... and dang, it's the first open-source project I've seen on IH.

  19. 2

    Sure https://ideazap.xyz.

I'm curious: How can I make validating ideas easier for you?

    1. 3

The auto-expand on hover is incredibly annoying and frustrating.

  20. 1

I actually just shipped my first SaaS project last week. I learned a lot through the process, and had to fight to push it out the door. I learned a lot about where I would improve my processes next time around

https://qalm.io is a tool for holding "Ask me Anything" style internal corporate Q&A sessions. The company I work at full-time started holding them, and I loved the idea, and saw the value of the employee engagement, but there were a lot of flaws in the execution, as we didn't have a good medium to use. So here we are!

  21. 1

I'm mainly working on Geek Beholder https://geekbeholder.com where you can find the most awesome geek products from different e-commerces at the same place.

  22. 1

    Hi!

My list has dwindled, but right now the ones I have live are:

    https://beetle.email

    https://carhunting.co.uk

    https://enormous.io

    1. 1

Hey man, enormous.io docs page is down (502 Cloudflare error)

      1. 1

Cheers mate, yeah I managed to delete the blog that it was on a while back and haven't got round to writing it all again from scratch. Nightmare!

  23. 1

I’m working on an art studio with a business twist: https://chadthiele.com/

The photographer angle discussed here: https://chadthiele.com/interest/photographer/

  24. 1

I'm working on https://www.pmlesson.com - a product management coaching business. We're launching publicly our full course on August 15th.

Great to see everyone else's projects!

  25. 1

We help campers nab otherwise sold-out campsites: https://www.campnab.com

  26. 1

last year, we started https://toptalkedbooks.com, it is still running, but not generate much revenue. Now we started https://thingsreview.com, an amazon affiliate site, it is slowly making some money.

  27. 1

Share on makehub.io too if not already!

  28. 1

    Hi! I have this https://zircleui.github.io/zircleUI/

It is an unconventional UI library that uses zoomable navigation. This is the 0.3.3 version, but I'm working hard to publish the 1.0.0 with lot of improvements, better documentation and a detailed tutorial.

  29. 1

I’ve just finished building and launching Cloudy - a weather app for iOS 🚀

    http://getcloudy.app

I works on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch and has a set of neat features 😌

  30. 1

    I think I'm a little late but here's mine, recently launched: wordsworthwhile.co

I help businesses to connect with their audience better for greater engagement and more sales with content marketing.

  31. 1

I'm working on http://sprintkit.io. I built it initially for myself and teams I was working with but have decided to open it up.

Currently trying to spend more time on marketing and getting first users :)

  32. 1

I'm working on a waiter-in-your-pocket concept. Which enables restaurants to take their menus to the cloud, allowing customers to order from their phones instead of solely relying on a waiter. The restaurant business is tough to crack though. Integrating with POS is non trivial bottleneck. If you're interested, there's a demo at http://prediqt.appspot.com - Enter any dummy email and use b11d as the table ID (view using a mobile viewport)

  33. 1

Hi Xaticbeat, of course you can see my side project. You are welcome to chime in your $0.02 in thoughts/remarks/feedback.

    https://www.producthunt.com/upcoming/knot

    Thanks in advance.

  34. 1

Currently working on https://www.datagekko.com. Been drowning a lot of hours in it lately. Will probably open up the floodgates (more like a trickle :D) within the next 10 days.

The stack is quite complex, but I'm open to sharing details. Started a blog recently and yesterday I've published our first post which touches parts of how it operates and what it's made of. Will probably continue by covering more parts and then going more in depth of the individual topics.

  35. 1

Currently hacking away on https://habitrabb.it as a quick project to learn Ruby on Rails. Building a Turbolinks Android app for it as well. Still very much a work in progress but it has been a lot of fun.

Recently shipped https://seyoh.com as a sort of standalone clone of Yoast plugin. Though we're trying to now do more research into B2B market for content management at scale which is a different thing entirely.

  36. 1

    Sure!

So my main project (full time with two other indie hackers) is PostPerk - we turn ecommerce customers into influencers on Instagram.

I also have a weekly newsletter for founders at FiveMinuteFounder.com - about 2'000 founders subscribe to get a 5min piece of actionable advice which should grow their business by 1% each week.

Finally, as a spin off from some consulting and content marketing I've been doing for PostPerk, I'm putting the finishing touches to my first info product - The Social Proof Handbook. It's a playbook for founders and marketers, where I show you how to grow your revenues by potentially 20% with a more structured approach to using social proof.

    Feedback welcomed!

  37. 1

As you are here, I guess at least one of them will be helpful to you ;)

    1. 1

Hey @StanBright your UI is awesome. Are you using a template or building it yourself?

      1. 2

Thanks @vez1132. I'm building it myself using Bulma as a CSS framework.

        1. 1

Bulma seems like a great resource. I am getting ready to start a project of my own and was dreading all the time I would have to waste worrying about CSS and design. Thank you.

          1. 1

I used it as well for the first time for a project and I have been very happy with it so far. The only little issue was that you can't really find any good examples to buy/borrow/steal since all themes and such out there are written using bootstrap.

I don't know what kind of thing you are building but if you're building something dynamic then take a look at Buefy which is vue components in Bulma: https://buefy.github.io/#/
