EPIC Get my product ready for a legit, public beta. User auth, a solid value prop, and ready for payments. Continue to research the space/marketing avenues/my audience and network.
TODAY I started a Firebase project for eventual auth, fixed a bug.
TOMORROW I'll be meeting up with someone who has attempted to apply ML to the news ( just like I'm currently trying to do). I'll learn from him as much as I can and begin to think about collaborating if it makes sense for both of us.
Work in progress I push updates to this staging environment pretty much every day - it's super raw and full of unfinished stuff. But hey, show before its ready. https://newsbie-staging.herokuapp.com/dashboard
Shit. So you did decide to take on ML? Can't wait to see how you apply it!
I've played with it, hoping to use sentiment analysis to curate opposing views/takes on the same subject, but the pre-made libraries for it don't seem effective enough. Hopefully I validate the product without it and can justify taking a deeper dive...
Epics:
By end of September:
✓ Users are able to view any first chapter of any author.
✓ Users are able to view any author of any teaser.
Users are able submit a second chapter for any first chapter.
(Stretch Epic) Users are able to accept a second chapter for any the first chapter they've written.
Today: Polished (a rough polish) added to the page and chapter views. The search for an illustrator continued. And I made certain to respond to folks who commented on my Reddit posts.
Tomorrow: I'll start building the mock to write Chapter 2.

So where does your september epic fall in your timeline? Is it the tail end of development, or not quite the finish line yet?
I haven't yet finished the negotiations, but if all works out, I'll launch onboarding the beginning of October and launch the full app in mid-October. (Smiling) If that's the case, I'll need to add "just a few" more epics. After I finish the third epic on the list, I'll have completed about 2/3rds of the app. Not only am I more than a bit nervous that the hard part is yet to come. I haven't yet started on landing page v2.
For a qualitative launch, I could easily use another month. But I'm keen to launch my baby before end of year.
