Why?
That extra nudge of accountability to achieve even a small step on your IH journey each day.

05 [Optional] Share your Work In Progress to underscore your accomplishments!
Then tune in the tomorrow to share how you did on your own tasks!
Epic: Get 10 paying members by end of Oct.
Yesterday: Lots and lots of people told me how great my copy was, but nobody was buying, so I took several hours to write a heartfelt story that actually makes my copy way LESS fun... but I'm hoping it resonates with people.
Today: Try to find a room to rent in Portland so I can stop having that worry distracting me from getting work done.
Heartfelt story, indeed! Poignant. And I suspect it will ring true for many. Definitely did for me. Thank you for your courage.
Any success with the room?
No luck :(
Ugh. Shelter-hunting sucks, but you'll find the right fit!
EPIC Finish my UX revamp, get Stripe and auth fully set up, and gather feedback from my first very small, informal beta.
Also participating in sober October - I'll be curious how it affects my side project stuff.
Yesterday Implemented the new "articles" tool. Tons of search/filtering options.
Today Work on a new "Topic Analyzer" and think about how I want to follow up with my small batch of beta users.
Work In Progress https://newsbie.io
Ugh. Sobriety?
(Laughing!) Teasing. Definitely interested in following your October journey!
Really digging the "locked" feature and the request to sign in to access such.
I like the idea of sober october. I think I'll join ya. Gonna have to be inventive about going on dates, but.. it rhymes, so they have to be cool with it!
Nice! Was a last minute decision for me too. Let's report back about impact on our work/social life/life in general
I really like reading your posts, but the barrier to participation is a bit too high!
I’d just have two: what are you working on today and what did you achieve yesterday?
Yesterday I fixed a reference extraction bug and put in place config options for a new summarisation API endpoint.
Today I’m adding ePub and Powerpoint support, and coding up the summarisation endpoint.
Kudos for joining! What's your project?
Hi, it's scholarcy.com
Hey, the site didn't load after 30ish seconds. (Just a friendly FYI)
Thanks, that’s odd. It’s on SquareSpace, although I’m moving to Wordpress in a few weeks. Pingdom says it loads in 1-3s and rates it a ‘B’ globally
Super fast now! Weird, not sure why it didn't work before.
The idea looks super cool, great narrow niche market opportunity.
For the landing page, I'd recommend making things a little smaller and spaced out, like the demo video is a bit too big and potentially in need of some header/context. The menu is also a bit scrunched.
Thanks for giving it another try! The whole site is being reworked at the moment, it will look completely different. The current site is my own attempt, I now have a designer doing it properly :)
(Grinning) Indie Hackers. Always up for feedback... Love it!
I think having a North Star each month is pretty damn important. (Smiling) But I'll compromise and make the last two optional.
And feel free to take whatever you want and leave the other stuff on the table. Whatever helps you get to the finish line!
And now for Scholarcy... That's a fab tool! What inspired such?
Thanks, agree about keeping the Epic in there. Good compromise!
Scholarcy was inspired because I was wanted to keep up with the latest research papers but didn't have time to read them. I just wanted the highlights. All the other tools out there were about discovery and recommendation, nothing out there would actually read them for you!
EPIC:
By end of October, users can make their own happy ending.
YESTERDAY:
TODAY:
Complete refactoring for tales.
Fix title bug.
Deploy.
KUDOS: Pending others joining in!
