Does Name My Rocket make sense for Product Hunt?

Thanks to this awesome community, I've answered the first question: Can I deliver a qualitative product that solves a problem? Of the 5 volunteers, I successfully named 4 start ups, ranging from cybersecurity to lucid dreams.

Now I need answer the second question: Will anyone pay for this product?

I hadn't heard of Product Hunt before joining IH. Would this be a good fit for Name My Rocket? And do you think it would provide a solid answer to the second question?

Yes people do. At least I did a couple of time.

    Here's a service that I actually used twice: https://www.pickydomains.com/

If you search for "business naming service", you'll see a few Ads. This is the evident that there's a market for it. I also use one of those services in the past.

Basically, these service find you fancy names that are "Googlely unique" and comes with matching available domain names. The combination of these can be quite time-consuming to research sometimes.

Gonna shamelessly plug my new thing here: https://www.hotsuto.com/

You feed it a keyword, and I translate it to 60 different languages and check the availability of "your-word-in-german.com" "your-word-in-Russian.com" etc

Just added to my toolkit! Thanks!

I love this! I tried to make this exact thing a few months ago and got frustrated and gave up, so I'm so glad someone else did it!

No kidding?! I'm glad that you like it! Thanks so much for checking it out!

Nice! Do you think this would be something to launch on Product hunt?

      1. 3

        It can be.

I wouldn't bother (as a client) unless the product has USPs that I cannot find elsewhere. This is because there are quite a lot of X for Y products on PH.

However, I may not be the typical PH audience when it comes to naming. Lots of hackers prefer to name their own babies so even a simple POC can be a fresh breath of air.

EIther way, I strongly suggest you prepare a working order (where people can pay) before launch. Otherwise, if people get on our landing page and found no such form, the idea of a naming service would still have entered their conscious mind. They get on Google, and you may lose a lifetime client.

          Thanks for the advice!

Is there any data about the average number of conversions/paid conversion for a Product Hunt launch?

  2. 2

there is a market for this - see squadhelp.com for example

I created namelix.com which was featured on PH, it's definitely a good fit.

Awesome! Namelix has been mentioned several times as a reference on IH! May I ask how many conversions you had during your Product Hunt debut?

Totally makes sense, I mean the worst they can do is ignore you right? Chances are you'll get a sweet bump in traffic and ideally some real conversions!
