Feedback on an Idea: Quality Assurance (QA) as a Service

I work for a large WordPress agency and we work with a lot of enterprise companies. Where we can, we handle QA but often the client brings internal team members to do the work. The way it's done is often rushed and can be disconnected from the work (stories) being worked on by our team. Despite its importance and value, it appears as an afterthought.

With QA, the process, tools etc can be fairly well defined. I'm wondering if this is something companies would find valuable as a service that can be scaled up and down easily depending on current projects.

What do you think?

I did some research on outsourcing QA for my employer. There are tons of companies that do provide QA services. You can find offshore and onshore QA engineers. We worked with Shasta QA and liked the experience so you might want to check in with them.

Cool. Thanks for that. Sounds like the space could be busier than I thought.

With your experience with your employer, what was their motivation for outsourcing the work?

Our company was bought by some other company. Once we were bought, we were told not to increase operational expenses and as a result we can not increase head count. What we figured is that we can find QA vendor and use that vendor for new CAPEX projects and that is why we started looking for a vendor. We have team of seven developers and only one QA engineer, so we do have plenty of stuff that needs to be done. All the way from manual testing to developing automated tests.

OPEX limitations is the vibe I get from the clients we engage with as well. If you have that list, that would be great. No pressure though. :)
