[Feedback] When fun becomes a side project - looking for your feedback

Hi. Some time ago I and my friend launched a landing page for our app and something what was developed for fun became our side project.

Can I ask for your feedback? Landing page is available on https://betfolks.com.

I don't describe our app and idea here now because I would like to know whether landing page gives you clear and comprehensive explanation of the app.

I had a similar idea some years ago. In my case, it was the annual Grand National where families often like to organise private betting events that was the trigger.

I was seriously going to develop it for commercial use as you have done ... except that the betting and gambling laws in the UK are such that I would have been breaking the law (at least as I then understood it).

So I love the idea. All I would advise you to do is check not only your local licensing laws but also those of any country into which you intend to sell the application or you may wake up one morning to an unwelcome knock on the door.

I am not a lawyer nor an expert in gambling law. I know just enough to be dangerous. What I do know is that the dead hand of Government gets everywhere.

Some light bedtime reading (all UK):

    https://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/for-the-public/What-is-gambling.aspx

    https://www.legaleze.co.uk/members/RB_Gambling.aspx

    http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2005/19/pdfs/ukpga_20050019_en.pdf

I have no idea whether this sort of stuff will apply to what you are doing but better to be forewarned and make sure you are compliant before you start. The above only applies to the UK of course but I would be surprised if other countries did not have similar legislation you might need to consider.

Thanks a lot for your remarks. I'm really glad to read it. Betfolks is a tool which is made to remove excel spreadsheets or paper when you organise prediction contest for your friends, client or employees. People organise such contest via forum (eg. sports fans) so forum is a tool here and Betfolks will be some kind of more advanced and featured tool. There will be no money transfer between participants and organiser. If organiser wants to offer some awards for best participants it will be handled outside Betfolks. We are not bookmaker we deliver only a tool which should make contest organiser's life easier and participants more engaged. Companies often organise similar contests on Facebook when you are asked to predict sports results but it is only one-shot action. Betfolks is made to help companies, sport clubs keeping customers more engaged for a longer period of time.
