A while back I decided to finally follow my dream of creating a startup and brought to life an idea I'd had in my head for years. PipeGears http://pipegears.com is a SaaS development platform that lets you create and run Web backends and REST APIs quickly by snapping them together visually from prebuilt components.
After several months of development, I finally released the open beta last week and have done a bit of posting to build awareness. I have a few users so far but am in the process of trying to build more momentum.
The main value proposition is that you can iterate and release products more quickly by building your application backends on a service platform like PipeGears which allows you to spend more time focusing on the frontend where you're more likely to build differentiation.
I'm hoping to have more users try it out and provide feedback. I'd like to validate my value prop, and to get a better sense of the target user that this is ideal for. My working assumption is that a developer with frontend experience, or a mobile app developer are great target users, or someone who does system integration and needs to make things work together quickly.
Some of the feedback I've received indicates that it may be too technical for some users, but I'd like to hear from more potential users, anyone who has experience with this type of product, or if you just have some thoughts about it.
Thanks, and looking forward to your feedback!
Website looks fine on my S6 and is responsive. It's a clean design. You really need to add a SSL certificate to be taken seriously though, considering its one of the things you also advertise as part of your service.
Good point, thank you! I have one for the actual product, just not the website. Will rectify shortly.
Checking now. I think would help if you had some examples or a showcase demo of what's feasible. Could be gif screen recording. Or just some screenshots.
Oh, and viewing in Chrome on my Samsung S8 Active phone with no problems.
Agreed, I'm planning on creating some sample apps that can be imported, like a backend chat system, leaderboard, or maybe an IOT dashboard, ideally accompanied with sample front-ends for each one. Thanks for feedback!
Sounds like a great starting point. For me, i learn best by seeing possibilties, even if simple. So these would be tantamount to me buying a product or signing up for SaaS.
I’m on mobile 90% of the time so I just checked out your site on my iPhone 5s. I get a blank screen - do I need to view it on my laptop? Thanks
Just tried on a 4th gen iPod and the website works with no problem. Although if you do decide to create an account and try the application, you'll have a better experience on a laptop.
I’m using iOS 11.4.1, tried with Safari and Chrome. Strange! Will try later with my laptop
It works on my Galaxy S6.. Should work fine. But now you've got me worried.
