So all we read about as indie hackers is “validate your idea”, “do experiments” etc.
However my question is... how do you get enough eyes on your product to validate it?
I’ve deployed several MVPs and there is no way that I can say wether they are valid ideas or not, because no-one knows they exist.
I’ve done quite a lot with my current side project (it’s my first that I actually believe could release me from day job hell) but even throwing several hundred dollars at various ad canpaigns etc, the level of traffic is very low.
How do we as bootstrappers and hustlers get enough eyes in our products to do them justice?
I believe the best place to promote your side project is where your audience already gathers. For example, if you're writing a book about a programming language, the subreddit for that programming language is a good place to start. The point is to discover where your public are and engage them there. But in a more organic way, not as a spammer. Try to actually help them, don't just drop your link and go away.
You can start this process even before you release yours projects. Actually I believe is much better when you start the conversation before you write any line of code.
