Got Nir Eyal as a paying customer, and he agreed to give a testimonial!

We recently landed Nir Eyal as a paying customer of OneUp, and he gave us an awesome testimonial that we added to our landing page: https://www.oneupapp.io 🎉

For those that are unfamiliar, Nir is the author of Hooked: How to Build Habit-Forming Products, which is co-written by Product Hunt founder Ryan Hoover.

We're pretty pumped about the endorsement!

How did we do it? Well after Nir signed up for a free trial, I recorded a personal thank you video for him, with me holding his book (it helped that I already owned it). He was really blown away by the personal touch 😊

Honestly one of my favourite books and changed the way I think about building products. That's so cool, congrats! Nice idea too

    1. 1

      Agreed! And thanks!

  2. 3

Congrats! That's a pretty big endorsement, Nir is the man.

Also well done on the personal video idea - that is brilliant thinking!

    1. 1

      Thank you 😊

    Congrats @DavisBaer on the testimonial.

I love the concept of re-cycling old posts on auto mode. Wish I was more active on social media :/

Just a random marketing suggestion , have you considered selling the service to PR/Marketing firms who manage clients social media accounts? It's like selling to one PR firm who handle let's assume five accounts so that's five sales by making one sale. Just a wild thought :)

    1. 1

Great question :) Yep, we already have customers that manage many social media accounts.

  4. 2

    Nice touch!

      Thanks Marko!

      Thanks Kevin 😎

I signed up. Is repeating yourself on social media a good strategy?

    1. 1

Thanks for checking it out :)

When you share something on social media, it is typically only seen by ~5% of your followers, depending on the network.

For a lot of people, repeating yourself on social media probably doesn't make sense. But for people with a lot of evergreen content such as blogs, podcasts, videos, or other types of social media posts, resurfacing those posts every now and then can be an effective strategy to drive traffic and engagement - while saving yourself a lot of time and energy.

    This is dope!

    1. 1

      Thanks Dan 😁

For those who have access to Lynda subscription, Nir has a course in there about distractions versus traction. Highly recommended.

    Well done on the testimonial!

    1. 1

      Thanks!

Havent seen that course, but maybe I'll check it out 🤓

May I ask how your product is different from buffer?

    1. 1

The biggest differentiator is that OneUp allows you to repeat your posts automatically. Buffer does not.

I wrote a side by side comparison of the two here: https://medium.com/@davis1/what-is-the-best-alternative-to-buffer-for-scheduling-social-media-posts-ba6b3d6635c8?source=linkShare-1d1a20b08c6-1538104559

      Thanks Suhas!

    Nice! Congrats!

      Thank you Bruno! 🤓

  14. 1

    Congrats Davis, that's awesome.

BTW just had a quick look at one up and it looks great, I just have a quick question.

Did Twitter not block evergreen content?

    1. 2

Good question. If you set a Twitter post to repeat, OneUp actually deletes your old tweet before tweeting it again, keeping it in line with Twitter's TOS 😊

      1. 1

        Nice work around :)

Why is your site not mobile friendly? I am browsing via Android chrome browser and I see a desktop version of site with horizontal scroll and too small text which is very difficult to read.

I have taken screenshots and I can email to you if you want.

Hey Milan, we are aware that the landing page isn’t mobile friendly. Are web app is not designed for mobile, so we haven’t prioritized optimizing the landing page for mobile.

It’s on our road map though 😊
