I ran an a/b/c test on my product. 33% traffic split.
I was comparing CTAs
I had
“Start your 14 day free trial”
“Start your free trial”
“Get Started”
Which do you think converted more?

What did you define as 'converted more':
Click on CTA button?
Started free trial?
Became a paying customer?
In this instance conversion = clickthrough
I'm sure you're aware of this, but optimizing for CTR isn't particularly effective :) If I put "Get your free Tesla now" on a button, it would probably have a high CTR but extremely low number of actual paid conversions.
Appreciate that man and I am doing multiple optimisations. First thing I wanted to establish was - all things being equal, what button will get people into the funnel more.
Your example is, I believe, very skewed because by saying something crazy like "free teslas" then you are simply lying, which will of course lead to valueless conversions. However my homepage makes it clear what the product is so moving onto the next stage of on boarding should bring value to the user and not the disappointment of being misled.
"Get Started", likely because it doesn't evoke images of putting in CC details in peoples' brains like the other two would.
Well you mostly got it right.
With a 74% probability to be the best, the CTA that won the experiment was “get started”
Get Started -- it's what you'd say to encourage a friend to try something they might benefit from.

Under the CTAs (clearly displayed) so I don’t think that was a factor.
