Has anyone had experience working with the Amazon Kindle Newsstand?

I've had a pretty terrible experience trying to get my magazine on Amazon's subscription platform. The Kindle ebook publishing experience is great, but there is no equivalent UI for their newsstand. I've been emailing back and forth with an 'analyst' at Amazon who has to manually add my periodical to their system, but he has been less than helpful. He initially asked me to provide a PDF, which I did. He then said the PDF was not in the correct format for their systems, and sent along specifications, which I adhered to. He then said that we should actually use RSS-XHTML, which he sent me a sample for and I implemented, and then he said that we actually need RSS-NITF. I attempted to comply with that, and the final communication was that he "checked the feeds and receiving error while generating files at our end." No other more specific issues were forthcoming. I don't think he actually has any idea about how Amazon's internal systems work.

At this point I am pretty disgusted with the whole process, and am questioning the value of spending any more time on this. Has anyone else had experience with Kindle Newsstand, and if so, do you have any pointers? Thanks!
