I purchase websites all the time, nowadays is actually really easy.
Plus you can always use services like escrow.com and payoneer.com they can be very helpful ...
What do you typically ask to see before a purchase?
Usually I ask access to Google analytics and revenue info.
Do you purchase them to sell them? Do you consolidate? Fascinated by this idea.
Usually I buy them to make my own projects and ideas.
Plus sometimes is just great to build on top of something instead of starting from nothing.
This is very interesting. I have been tempted to do this myself. But I am scared that tiptoe'ing around in someone else's code that I didn't write, will just take lots of time. Can you tell us more about how this worked out for you?
Really depends on each project... But I usually pick projects with ideas that fits my long term plans.

I am really interested in purchasing a few websites but have always been leery of the process. First of all, I purchase businesses based on seller financing and earn outs and not pay the full amount upfront. The current marketplaces don't allow for that... How do you negotiate the payments and pricing?
Secondly, transferring of assets is something I'm still not sure of.. How is that done? A deposit is made through escrow.com then assets transferred.. Then payment released? No legal paperwork?
Lastly, I would like to work with someone in the purchase and sale of websites, however, not sure if this can be done remotely between investors. Anyone would like to brainstorm a process with me?

Slightly off topic, but what about Android/iOS apps? Anyone knows how does the purchase/sell of those work? I don't think you can transfer just the app with all the stats, would you have to sell the whole account?
