Hello IH! Android Dev and wantreprenuer from London, UK!

Hello IndieHackers!

I have been lurking here a while now, and thought it's time to say hello, introduce myself and hopefully give back to the community. This site is great, it's a source of inspiration, full of useful data, and a great and helpful community, what a genius idea! I kind of came it across by chance, can't remember how, but now can't get enough.

About me: I have been developing mobile apps since 2006, working on old J2ME devices, BlackBerry, and then Android for the past few years. I have a bunch of experience but I have worked mostly in few startups across the years. If I could give back, I should be able to give startup advice, though I haven't made my own startup yet, I've seen what goes wrong and how to succeed. (Free hint: although definitely not a general rule the ones with tens of million pound budgets are the ones which ran into the ground, the lean ones are still going strong.) I'll also be able to hopefully respond to some Android (and app) development and deployment questions, I've worked on some pretty advanced apps, have led teams, interviewed quite a few people and hired both Android and iOS devs.

I'm now looking into making the move into having my own startup. It's definitely a different skillset compared to just writing code (trust me I had an app and it failed, I just couldn't monetise and I was far too comfortable focusing on code). I have a couple of ideas for startups, I think I will post the concept I am focused on in a separate thread - I'm moving out of the app game and into the online SaaS world.

Thanks for reading my post!

Amin
