How I sold $50,000 of Product in 1 Month as a Full-Time College Student

Love the hustle man, Thanks for sharing!

Was it diminishing margins that made you stop or you just decided to let it go?

    1. 2

Thanks matey! Yup, diminishing margins made it non-competitive to sell after a while. Also, that pop-up store only stayed open for 3 months.

There are several things I love about this, but the thing that stood out the most was your ability to speak Chinese gave you access to deals that no other person would have been able to source.

Unique skills and talents can come in handy in ways that we don't predict unless we apply ourselves to a challenge, and I love that you applied yours towards making this work!

Yeah I did one year of Chinese in HS (4 years prior to this story) bc they ran out of Spanish classes for me to take.

I was able to remember enough to talk with the Chinese sellers and negotiate on price, quantity, etc. It felt so Awesome. Thank you

Good point, though Chinese speaking ability in New York is far from unique. If you know the right areas to go, you can eat, shop, book hotels and take tours without much English at all!

"I can Speak Chinese so I was able to buy massive quantities at low cost."

Those were probably knock offs. and you can get in a lot of trouble for selling them. Not try to rain on your parade. you did a great job of hustling. just be careful reselling branded stuff if you don't know where it came from.

They provided receipts for every unit (unique receipts that only the Snapbot gave out) and I bought the units from them at an above-the-Snapbot price (including tax). They had an army going to the Snapbot Vending Machine every day (that's how I met them). They earned their margin, too.

Props for the due diligence on the receipts! Plenty of people wouldn't have done that.

Thanks and it helped that the Snapbot receipts were so unique that customers actually wanted to have the receipt shipped to them with their order.

Here is what the Snapbot receipts looked like: https://qph.ec.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-859179eaa8121918e05ff4e1b81c2b4e?convert_to_webp=true
