@aytekin Great article. 👍 I love that there are more and more proponents of not listening to cliché/unicorn advice.
Do what needs to be done first, not what you dream about.

That's a great write up, thanks!

Congrats on the approach, persistance, discipline and common sense approach to building a business @aytekin!

Very grounded approach, I like it. Having just released my own self-developed, self-funded SaaS https://gitpitch.com I'm following a similar path. One slow step at a time. Aytekin, your product even inspired a new service within my own product, where I've made JotForm surveys a new slide type available within GitPitch slideshow presentations, see https://gitpitch.com/surveys

Looks great. Thank you for adding support for JotForm in your product. You can get your app listed here: https://apps.jotform.com/
Thanks for your kind words. And this tip. I have gone ahead and registered GitPitch within the JotForm Form Apps directory. Now just waiting for approval.

I think I used Jotform first time around 6 years ago. You gave a possibility like no one gave at the time - a properly working form with payment integration. It helped me to validate ideas before moving on to custom solutions.
The only missing part was subscription tracking, which forced me to work with excel through the month and cross check all transactions.

A lot of indie hackers use JotForm for the same purpose because JotForm does not take a percentage like subscription management services. You can create a Stripe or PayU subscription form in minutes and you don't pay an additional percentage on the sales.
We're quite aware that we are missing a lot of reporting features on our payment forms. The good news is that's one of the priorities for this year.

I needed to hear this.
I guess I'm taking a similar approach. No funding and investors to answer to, no team yet, bootstrapping and slowly figuring things out, maybe doing some other work every now and then.
The all-in approach could make sense sometimes, where you move fast, burn cash, growth exploding and champagne bottles popping... but it shouldn't be the norm for entrepreneurs. Probably the norm should be closer to what you've done.

Congratulations!
Although all these posts about solving existing problems are making me feel guilty. I keep building stuffs for 2 reasons: because it's fun and because I can do it. And yes, I do hope to monetize these projects one day. But yea, it's like there's this invisible barrier I have to face because I'm not even trying to solve an existing problem.
It's starting to sound like a very common entrepreneur's mistake, which I'm willingly making. But I'm keeping my day job until I get lucky and break that wall. Anyways, this post is about you, so congratulations again and good luck!
