How we screwed things up on Product Hunt
Hi Indie family!

The feedback received was great! Everybody loved the design and that makes us very happy. Now we're improving the tool and fixing some issues.

I ended up with around the same number of upvotes when I launched on PH last week. Still brought in quite a lot of users, but would have been a lot more if I'd made it above the fold.
Your website is gorgeous, I love the design and I'm a fan of products that use gamification (especially as mine does too).
It's okay that you didn't make it to the top of PH, you can launch a 2.0 with this knowledge now!
Maybe we're overreacting a little on the post because we got a lot of useful feedback and that's cool. But the truth is that we had higher expectations.

I had higher expectations too, I was expecting this huge rush of users, but I guess my product doesn't fit the typical PH mold of job board/crypto/something generated with a spreadsheet :D

Have you reached to PH and tell them that it was your family who did some upvotes (voluntary) was? I heard of people getting into the same trouble, but reaching out to PH solved that.

We were thinking about re-launching in a few months as "Crammut 2.0" (some issues will be fixed, there will be new features...). But if contact them works it will be great because we're even banned from the search results. We could get some traffic until Crammut 2.0 is released. Thanks again! :)
Yeah, I am not sure if it is not too late, but try anyway. It won't hurt trying it!

you need to know an insider or pay PH to feature you, but no matter how much upvotes you get, the popularity on PH is the most fake and temporary publicity you can get anyway
Exactly... I read something recently that said PH shouldn't be your entire launch or marketing strategy. It's just a nice boost.
We're not completely sad because our target is not on PH, so it's not a big deal. But we love the attention hahaha

Yeah! Lesson Learned. But I'm jinxed so maybe I'll screw things up again next time because of different reasons hahaha
