I built a todo app using mapped lists instead of regular lists : any feedback ?

Hello hackers,

I just launched a new MVP 🎉 It's a todo app using mapped todo lists instead of regular lists !

It's bugged and very beta, but I released this complex MVP in only two weeks ! (+ made while relocating from Thaïland to Vietnam, and even while being sick). Needless to say, despite the raw interface, a lot of efforts was put into this.

Hope I can give you a feel of what the final product will look like, and I would appreciate some feedback 🤗

In the meantime, take care !

So it's a mind map where the items are each a separate todo list? Sounds interesting! But hard to understand without a little more explanation or at least some screen shots :) I was thinking about building mind maps or brainstorms into my open source app, Brisa Boards.

Unrelated, how is it getting around in Vietnam without speaking the language? I've been to Thailand a couple times, but always with my Thai friend to do the translating haha. But I've wanted to go to Vietnam forever - it sounds amazing, and pho is one of my favorite foods (not sure how similar it is to what we have in So Cal, though).

Congrats on the quick launch! That's impressive, and cool that you're linking to your trello dev board!

Demo screenshots, got it :) Exactly. I want to combine the powers of mind-maps and todo lists in an app, so that I can align my values, my goals and my tasks.

Luckily I have some extended family here, so I speak in english with them. When I'm by myself, I get by using sign language. It's not a big deal since I'm staying in Saigon.

If I feel like socializing I can just go to the district 1 :P But didn't have to so far.

I'm documenting my stay here if you had like to read : https://twitter.com/basilesamel/status/1046602316223139840

      Thanks for the feedback !

Vietnam isn't that hard to get around, hell I stayed in Sapa at someone's homestay and no one spoke English. We communicated through Google Translate. It's generally not too bad, especially in Saigon, Hanoi, and other cities.

Pho that you see in the States is considered to be southern Vietnamese style, from when many fled to the US after the Vietnam War. There is also the northern Hanoi style with a milder, clearer broth, both are delicious. You must try their banh mi tho, great sandwiches.

A agree with the screenshots idea. Going into the page I didn't know what mapped todo lists were and after a minute or two on the page I still don't . I think some screenshots and more explanation would definitely be beneficial.

Hey so here are my thoughts.

1 - Sign up, this flow needs to be improved, I almost forgot to heck my email, so your probably losing conversions here. Why not let the user set their own password?

2- I like how you make a list very simple, but what do I do after that? I was confused. If theres a next step make it very explicit to the user. I got as far as adding stuff then couldnt figure out what next

    Baz, first of all, congrats!

Simple feedback- I'd love for the landing page to allow me to see it before signing up.

    Congrats on the launch! 🚀

An easy way to improve your conversion, in my opinion, is to put a screenshot of how the lists actually look like once they are created. When I visited the page I was welcomed by a "normal" checklist of what the app can do, but no facts.

Good luck with the app in the future and keep us posted about cool updates ✌️

Thanks for the remark, will do :)

    Hi!

Have you considered adding the ability to combine tasks not only up and down, but also right and left? Honestly i don't see the functionality that will convince me that your app is better but it is MVP so i will follow :)

    Good luck! 👍

      Totally !

In my head the final product should be a list system like Trello, but where boards are mapped, in a single interface.

So basically in the next update, you will be able to add siblings to a given list, and they will be displayed in a clean way like a deck of cards. Very useful for my kanban boards.

Hi, Signed up for the MVP. This needs some hand-holding? I got a clean blue board with 2 icons on top right. (Settings & View, i guess)

It's a bug, sorry about that.

If you try to refresh/reload the page, you should have a root node right at the center of your viewport.

      Otherwise, the javascript is broken.

Sorry. Tried refreshing again. Same result.

Alright no prob, I will update you once it's fixed.
