I finally launched my first SaaS

After years of lurking around the SaaS space I've finally launched one of my own. Let me introduce you to https://ironmic.fm a website host for podcasters.

With this our primary target audience is anchor users who inherently don't have a website for their podcast, though any podcaster with and RSS feed will be able to use IronMic.

Let me know what you think about my project and I'm excited to get everyone's feedback!

P.S.: Here's our Product Hunt post, planning on giving out some coupon codes on there soon :) https://www.producthunt.com/posts/ironmic

    Congratulations!

I loved the idea of the hover to look at a demo site, kudos!

  2. 4

    Congrats Kyle, it looks good!

One small comment on the landing page - personally I'm only missing a list of features. E.g. can I change themes, can I use my own domain, can I use your subdomain, can I show the podcast ratings,... Usually before deciding for one tool I'll check a few competitors and compare their pricing vs features.

Good luck and keep us posted!

    /m

Thanks! That's a good point, probably something we should revisit again soon.

  3. 3

    Congratulations :)

First of there is a mistake in the second sentence.

"Maybe you’ve already had some success with your podcast already?" <- there are 2 already. drop the last one.

Second I agree that there is too much text and in my opinion it's not easy to see what you offer really is. (the hosting)

I have to read quite a lot of text before I really get what you offer.

Instead it should be clear without having to read any text at all (in my opinion)

    1. 1

We actually just updated this entire copy block if you'd like to take a second look!

      1. 2

Better but I would actually pull your CTA at the end of the page to the top.

"Create a custom website for your podcast

Get started today with a custom website for your podcast. We help you make your podcast more professional by showcasing current episodes, the hosts, and the description." <- this describes your offer in just 1 sentence so it should be the first thing a visitor sees :)

  4. 3

    Congrats! What an achievement!

    1. 1

      Thanks! :)

  5. 3

    It looks good! Congrats!

Is it integrated with existing podcast platforms?

    1. 1

Thanks! It can be integrated with any podcasting platform, just need to be able to grab the RSS feed for said podcast!

      1. 1

So, if someone publishes through your site, it automatically appears on Stitcher, Spotify, etc?

        1. 1

We're not a publishing platform for podcasts, but rather a website host. So if you're using something like Anchor this would be a perfect way to distribute your podcast through a website.

          1. 1

            Thanks for clarifying!

(I'm just starting to set up a podcast and the publishing flow is not super clear to me yet).

            1. 2

No problem! If you need any help setting up your podcast in general feel free to reach out to us, Would love to help!

  6. 3

Interesting idea. I can see many podcasters not wanting to have to get into the business of creating and maintaining a website.

After the setup, which I assume is automatic, do you have a human review stuff to make sure it's looking good?

    1. 1

      Great job and good luck!

      It's a really good idea.

    2. 1

Yeah we check up on everything and also make it easy to contact us for any issues. The episodes stay up to date automatically and we make it easy to contact us if something goes wrong (if we haven't caught it already).

      (I co-founded IronMic with Kyle)

    3. 1

Appreciate the validation of the idea!

We don't have a person necessarily checking each site as it's created but we've tested with lots of different data sets so that we shouldn't run into any issues! Though of course we have lots of support options if something goes wrong :)

  7. 3

Looks great! Keep up the good work.

    1. 1

      Thanks buddy!

  8. 2

What a great idea! I wonder if it would be worth it at some point to add a community to this, where users who don't have podcasts can come in a find top rated podcasters. I've seen so many posts on FB and such where people put out asks about suggestions on new and interesting podcasts. Might be neat to get listeners together with publishers all in one place. Good luck!

    1. 1

This is definitely something we want to do/have planned if the community grows into something like that!

  9. 2

Upvoted here and on PH :) Looks great!

  10. 2

Congrats @kylemcd 🙌 Keep us posted with your progress!

  11. 2

Great idea, I would put a bit more time into improving the landing page. It should look easier to the eye, less text and more beautiful.

There's too much text cramped in little space. There should be one sentence which explain your service. Not a whole paragraph. Also a call to action button would be good. Also what's the deal with RSS feeds. RSS just was removed by firefox, why would you even think of supporting such feature which no one uses.

Might need to hire a designer.

    1. 1

Thanks! Definitely plan on improving the landing page.

As for RSS feeds that's what podcast feeds are stored in, so every podcast uses this for distribution :)

Congratulations...Yes, indeed its an innovative thinking & idea as well... We have launched a new product.. Kindly let us know your views.. https://www.slickaccount.com/profitability/index

    It looks good! Congrats!

    Clever idea. Congrats!

How did you get this idea and what is your business model?

    1. 1

      Thanks!

It was made from a pain point my business partners had. They created a podcast on Anchor but there was no easy way to create a website for that podcast. Our business model is a monthly and yearly plan to host someone's podcasting website for them where everything is automated and they just have to create it once then forget it! :)

  15. 1

Congrats! Pricing strikes me as odd...

    1. 1

What would you change about it?

      1. 3

$10 down to $9 just because the mental hurdle of ticking over into double digits is real IMO. I think a 50% discount for annual pricing is too much. With something like podcasting, churn is going to be huge just by the very nature of it... so forcing people into annual pricing could have weird side effects. Stick to the proven method of 2 months discount for annual billing.

I'd look at Transistor for pricing clues, I think they've given their model quite a bit of thought and your product runs in the same vein: https://transistor.fm/pricing/

Thanks for the solid answer, you definitely bring up some very good points! :)
