Hello fellow indie hackers 👋
It is an exciting day today, I've been working on side projects for several years now and I've finally just now launched my first one publicly called ThemeLatte (https://www.themelatte.com). I always find myself in love building things, but when the time finally comes to share it with the world I find myself thinking no one will use it or it's not good enough.
This isn't really a post to promote ThemeLatte, but feel free to check it out 😄, but this post is more about not being scared to share your projects. Great things can be built when you share, receive feedback, iterate, and repeat.
Okay ... I'm done now, until next time Indie Hackers.
I know that feeling. Sometimes it feels like the closer I get a project to launch the more my confidence in whatever I am working on decreases. Congrats, Themelatte looks great!
Thanks Mikel! 😃
Congrats on launching! We talk a little bit about this in our IH interview, but we had a lot of qualms about "launching". Truth is, you learn everything after you start shipping.
Good luck!
Thanks John! I agree, there seems to be way more things to learn after launch.
P.S.
Endcrawl looks super fascinating, I never imagined how complicated it could be to put those ending credits together.
The website looks delicious <3 Congratulations man.
Thank you! 😃
The website looks awesome, great job!
Thanks christopher, I appreciate it! 👍
Hey congrats. You might want to work on responsive support for your Bailus theme -- looks great though.
Congrats on shipping and good luck with your business! :)
@Dylan_Dotolo Congrats on your launch !
how long have you been working on this project?
Thanks Kaushik! I've been working on this particular project for about a year.
During this process is where I would develop the site and make some themes but would never launch theme. I thought they weren't good enough so I would start all over from scratch. I did this a couple of times throughout the year.
So to fix this I sat down and for about a month just planning things out. Things like how I would build the themes, what technologies I would use, what my target audience was, the brand etc. This really helped me to be able to launch this time.
Plus seeing that is had been about a year made me think geez, I should just launch it and see what people think. 😂
Did you work on it alone? You can always get in touch with me for feedback on themes.
I recently started using pages.xyz to seek inspiration for landing pages.
You are absolutely right. Just launch it and see what people think. I remember a friend of mine built parse.com competitor (and better) for 4 years with no launch. Ever. Demise was inevitable.
Nice! What did you use to build your landing page?
I designed the site inside of Sketch and then built it out in Webflow so I could use their CMS. 👍
That is awesome, congratulations!
Congrats! Nice project) Looks good
Congrats on launching!
Congrats on the launch! This is a great milestone to celebrate!
Nice work! Celebrate the milestone!
Congrats @Dylan_Dotolo ! What's next for the project?
Thanks Julian! As for what's next for the project, I plan on designing and developing more themes at the moment. I want to make sure the themes look great and are super easy to use.
My sort of north star I am trying to follow is helping people build beautiful and easy to use things on the internet. So I'm not sure if that will lead me to build a website builder, develop some courses, etc. I'm just enjoying the journey and I will see where it takes me. 😀
The best "growth hack" 👍😉
"working on side projects for serveral years now"...
Thankyou! 😅
This makes me feel better taking a while to launch something... a combination of, not finished, not enough time, not ready etc. There's no excuse, but nice to know I'm not the only one taking a while...
Hello Dylan, Good to see your website. I am in this template industry almost over 4years. Nowadays it’s tough to sell HTML templates where users can easily build their websites with CMS (WordPress,Joomla etc ) drag and drop builder. It’s now really a competitive market. You can only sustain if you follow these tips :
1- Create very good quality templates with amazing design
2- Focus on the UX of a template
3- Submit your templates on different marketplace (ThemeForest, wrapbootstrap, mojomarketplace etc) to get users.
4- Show some free staff to get listed on different blog sites.
5- Try to create audiences in Dribbble / Behance / Github.
6- Focus on quality not quantity .
All these points come from my experience. www.themefisher.com is my very own theme start-up. I have been working on this site almost 3years. Now I have almost 60k users and 15k downloads per month. If you want more deep info feel free to contact me anytime.
Thanks
Thanks for all the info Mehedi, I will definitely keep you in mind for questions that I end up having. 👍
Congrats on launching! It looks great.
Congrats on launching! You have a great eye for design, well done.
Thanks Felix, I'm looking forward to the launch of Landen!
I love your Balius template, I'll use it in one of my projects that is still in the works. So for now, your page is on my fav list :)
Looks fantastic, congratulations, keep up the good work.
Congrats! Let's all keep doing this!
Congratulations!! Looks great and is already bookmarked! I am dying to launch my little project, but I am still struggling with coding it... But it will come soon enough!!
Thanks for the bookmark Daniel! 👍Hang in there and I look forward to seeing your launch! 😀
Nice job launching! Good looking. Just started messing around with drift myself.
Thanks David, I just added Drift right before launch. It seems like it can be a pretty powerful tool. Let me know how Drift works out for you.
Will do. Put it on my agency site to mess with it. Thinking of using it for an upcoming project
Awesome! Thanks for sharing that, it's inspiring to see first time launchers. Sometimes I feel like everyone here launch a project per month, it's nice to see new people doing that. Thanks bro.
Thanks Lucas 😄 and I know what you mean, some people seem to be launching things left and right.
Nice job! Your landing page design is slick, loving it.
I've also 'soft launched' my service today, and it feels good! You have to just push yourself to complete something and get it out there.
Now, onto the marketing stage :)
Thanks Alex! Good luck with ShupKeep!! 😀
So exciting. I can't wait until I launch my first product :-) Thank you for sharing.
No problem dustfinger, looking forward to seeing your launch.
Congrats on yout launch of themelatte :D I love the name!
Thanks, my wife came up with the name 😂
Congrats!
Thanks yizi!
Congrats on launching! I find my self in the same boat, always criticizing my own work until I don't feel like making it public anymore. My current project will be the first to ever have officially launched (working through beta right now) and its very exciting/terrifying.
Thanks Ken, I hope to see a post about your launch soon! 👍
Nice one congrats on launching! I used to struggle with launching my side projects too. Now that you have one out there it will get easier :)
I am hoping so 🙂, thanks Steven.
Nice, did you think of going with the Envato Market or so?
I thought about uploading to the Envato market but decided to focus on the main site first. That said, I may end up designing a few themes to upload to Envato as a way of marketing ThemeLatte.
Nice! I just signed up. I can always use a good template for a project.
Thanks for signing up Ryan! 😀
