About 8% of all males are color blind. I started We are Colorblind create an understanding of what color blindness is and why it’s important to keep the color blind in mind when designing websites, apps and other products.
The website used to be a side-project I could not dedicate a lot of time to. Recently I decided to quit my job and started working full-time on We are Colorblind.
Today I'm releasing the MVP of the professional services that will help professionals get their product right for the colorblind!

I'm pretty excited about sharing it with you guys, and I would love to hear if you have feedback on the site.
I have a type of color blindness where by I can only distinguish between 10% of the shades that most people can. So I can see all the colors but I'll sometimes say something is purple and others will say it's blue. I've learned to not argue with them and just accept that it's probably blue.
Sounds very familiar :)
I didn't work it out until my mid 20s so I had the occasional heated debate once or twice a year whether or not something was orange as opposed to yellow, purple as opposed to blue or yellow as opposed to green. I was sure I was right because I knew what I was seeing. It always struck me as really odd 3 or 4 other people always took the other side and I never won a single one of those.
I don't feel color blind except whenever I see the local bus and I'm with my 3 year old and he says "the yellow bus" and I have to hold my tongue from correcting him that it's not the yellow bus, it's the orange bus. I feel "blind" in that moment because he's only 3 and it very may well be that I'm right and it's actually orange but I can't say for sure that it is.
That's about the extent of it for me though. I finally figured it out one day when doing a particular type of color blindness test, not the one with the numbers but one where you have to compare shades and put them in order from darkest to lightest and the hue changes between two colors.
Cool project. Serves a market I didn't even think about.
Thanks Macario!
