I'm not good at earning money

Hi,

I've launched a french blog.

It talks about culture : I write articles about history, culture, grammar, art, etc.

It's a real passion to me.

I'm doing mainly SEO (but not only). That means that people do not connect on my blog for my personnality or to find a way to become an educated gentleman. Trafic comes because people need information.

I've managed to generate a not so bad trafic (around 20 ~22k visitors a day) and managed to grow my social networks followers.

But unfortunately, I'm not good at earning money.

My main source of revenu is... Adsense. And it's scarce...I can live, but it's not prosperity.

Any idea on how more generate revenus with such a model ?

Thank you

You've done a great job until now and are in a perfect position to monetize further. Congrats!

Some options you can explore and experiment with:

    1. Affiliate marketing such as with Amazon. You could be recommending relevant books (or other relevant products) with each article that you have.

    2. Donations using Patreon or similar. Allow your fans to donate money. See https://www.brainpickings.org/ for a good example of this.

    3. Premium membership/content with a monthly subscription. Let fans pay to get access to exclusive content or to an exclusive Slack community or similar. See https://fs.blog/ for a good example of this.

@Cultureindie I'm working on a patreon like product now that might be able to help you out a little. Cool if I send you an email when it's go to market?

As for the other suggestions on here, yeah totally set up Amazon Affiliates, I just did for a low traffic niche blog I run and made a couple bucks yesterday!

    Hey @Cultureindie

First of all 20-22K daily visitors is no small feat.

Below are some ways through which you could make money

1.Apart from adsense you could look into alternative ad networks that might give you a higher revenue

2.Have monthly partnerships with relevant companies/brands to write sponsored articles and display ads on website and social media. Make sure not to over do it and to keep the brands relevant to your target audience.

3.Affiliate links to books and products.

4.Sell courses, e-books or short information brochures (Gumroad is a great platform to set all these up)

5.Write blogs for other relevant brands so basically offer content as a service.

6.Have a premium membership so premium members have more access to content and tips/advises

7.Since your target market is very niche, you could create a jobs board.

    Hope this helps.

      Thank you Nakkeeran !

Do you a reliable alternative to Adsense ?

Unfortunately not. Maybe someone from IH community might know.

You might get some ideas from the business model of Brain Pickings - supporters + Amazon earnings from book recommendations. Might be a natural fit...

20-22k is pretty good for a blog like that and I'm amazed you can live off of the adsense. How old is the blog?

One thing that comes to mind is maybe you could monetize via Amazon Affiliate links to highly relevant books.

More difficult but more profitable would be to build an email list and start putting together deals with tourist places like museums, orchestras, etc...

      Thank you for your reply

Yeah I did but it doesn't earn much...You need a massive trafic (several millions) to make something really interesting with amazon (or being really talented to inspire people).

The blog is two years old !

Hey @Cultureindie 20K daily visitors is great and you can definitely find a way to monetize this further. However, I may not be the best person to give you advice as I do not run a site like this. But I will try to help out as much as I can.

Do you have any really active users who share and comment a lot? It could be interesting to see if their are premium features you could offer them. Also do you have one topic that really interest you and your readers? You could make the blog more niche and really target that user base and create products for them. Focusing on a larger array of topics makes it hard to create the best content for the readers interested in that niche. Also, a quick google search took me to an article with some good ways to monetize a blog (See image below). Cheers and good luck!
