Indie hacker Hackathon?

Hi everyone I'm really interested in hackathons and making products, since this is a community of makers and people trying to build stuff.

I was wondering you will be interested in having a weekend long hackathon.

Some of the rules I thought about:

  1. submission would be a link to you finished site or product

  2. Anyone with an indie hackers account can vote for the best product.

  3. No prizes just for fun.

There are also a lot of wantrepreneur around and I think this will be a way for them to build and release.

What do you think? are you interested or do you have any suggestions??

yes, 100% down for this. Have definitely thought about making a similar post.

    Some suggestions:

    • 1 Day Hackathon

    • 12 or 24 hours from start to finish.

    • You need to submit before hackathon ends (enforces shipping code/products)

    -----------------------------

The goal for me is just getting comfortable shipping products on a deadline, especially ones that only get to that 75 - 80% complete. I find I get stuck with polish.

Plus, it's amazing what you can build in 12 - 24 hours.

This is a great idea! How do I sign up for it? I'm most comfortable with web development.

    2. 1

I like the idea of a shorter & more intense event. With kids, I can't really clear a whole weekend. One day is much easier to schedule and I'm more productive with a stricter deadline.

Less time means less scope creep!

  2. 2

I would totally do this. I need a few weekends notice to clear my schedule though. Client work! Woo!

    Sounds fun

Checking in on this idea. We all need a little motivation to get up and get creative. I am thrilled at the opportunity to get a little competitive. I wonder if there is a template somewhere that can help keep this thing organized. Anyone have suggestions on where such a template or guidance might exist?

  5. 1

    Count me in!:)

  6. 1

I'd be down come the summer when my schedule opens up a little more.

  7. 1

    Sounds awesome, count me in!

  8. 1

    Great idea, count me in.

Definitely something cool to get involved in. I already started my journey of forcing myself to launch products. This will add some practice to that :D

  10. 1

That would be cool, maybe it would be nicer if it could be done through teams, to get to know each other better & combine the skills.

  11. 1

I think it would be helpful in getting us to ship something! I've got plenty of smaller ideas that I could work on.

  12. 1

I wish I could build things fast enough to do something like this, but I don't think I have ever thought of a project I could complete in 24 hours. At least not one worth doing. Do you have any examples of things other have created in under 24hrs?

  13. 1

    YAH! 48h straight!

  14. 1

@vez1132 posted awhile ago with this idea too so you should connect with him! I'd definitely be open to participating

  15. 1

That would be a lot of fun :)

Perhaps even indiehackers staff would be able to get involved somehow (interview the winner?)

  16. 1

Have thought about this as well. Would need structure though for sure.

  17. 1

    Count me in, sounds fun!

  18. 1

I would love to do this! Just need appropriate notice to clear my schedule.

  19. 1

    I’m interested, I think it’s a great idea xD.

    Sounds fun!
