New to the Indie Hackers community? Been lurking for a while without making an introduction? Here's your opportunity!
If you have any advice or feedback to offer other newcomers posting in this thread, or if you just want to say "hello," please do! (Veteran members are free to reply to comments as well.)
Post your own comment letting us know who you are and where you are on your journey to becoming (or improving as) an indie hacker.
Hello, I'm not lurking much, but I don't think I gave a proper introduction.
I'm Josh.. I live in Dubuque, Iowa. I built my first website in January of 1997. I've had a wild ride since then. I built adult sites, I worked for major companies as an engineer, I was first engineer hire at a startup, and now I am building my own business.
I run a consulting and development agency called NiftyCo where I work with a primary client who has me work on their client stuff as one of their 3 primary developers.
On top of that I am building a product, a custom merchandise platform that allows anyone to create a store and sell products without any upfront cost or risks called Merched. There's a lot of work involved in this product so it's not ready yet, but I spend a lot of my time on it.
Outside of tech, I spend most of my free time hanging out with my wife, 8 and 3 year old daughters and 1 year old Chocolate lab.
Love the idea. I’ve thought about using a similar service. That project is on the back burner but look forward to checking your app out.
Hey Josh, good to see a fellow Midwesterner. I'm down in Peoria at this time. I was up in Dubuque not too long ago for an interview with JD that I ended up declining. Look forward to seeing your product launch!
Ah you must have been in East Moline, IL or Davenport IA, not Dubuque. Common mistake. Deere HQ is in East Moline. There is a Deere in Dubuque but it's a manufacturing shop. Unless of course you were applying as a worker there. :D
I spent AUG2017-MAR2018 as a senior frontend engineer at Deere. Drove 1.5hr one day 3 days a week. Was terrible.
Anyway, thanks, and good to see more people from Midwest too!
Now in the bay area, but spent the first 18 years of my life in Quincy, IL. Hello to you both!
Haha I grew up in Springfield, IL. Played you guys in school. Been living in the bay as well for almost 4 years.
Hey Josh, I was born in Moline and grew up in Rockford. I moved to Los Angeles in
73, left in88, and now live in the Ozarks near Branson, MO.I built my first website around 1998 and my first web app, ezInvoice.com in 2002. The app code was written in Perl (makes me fell old just saying that).
I really love Dubuque. It's such a beautiful city, especially compared to Rockford. It was on my short list of places to live when I left LA.
Yeah I really do love it here... It's small but still got enough going on to not be boring, and beautiful. Need to buy a house on the river.
Hi There. I'm a humble MBA and formerly a self-taught hacker. See here: http://mbahacks.com/post/47216674637/why-i-created-mbahackscom-or-why-i-am-learnin
Product Management, Marketing and Growth Strategy are my areas of expertise. Though I worked with a small team to build www.writegreen.org, it's been ages since I write any serious code.
I quit my job a few weeks ago and am in the process of exploring what's next for me. I'm open to acquiring a small web business or partnering with someone that is looking for a business partner to help them grow their existing business or build a new one. Feel free to reach out or connect with me on LinkedIn if I can help in any way. https://www.linkedin.com/in/edwardcastano/

👋 Hey there!
🔮My name is Harry, not a wizard unfortunately...
🇺🇸 I'm from the US (currently Atlanta, GA)
🤖 I'm building a productized chatbot service called ConvoPanda for B2B founders and marketers.
⚡I've been working with chatbots since 2016 when I started ChirpyHire and have built over 80 to date.
📹I'm making Mastering Drift a premium video course to teach you how to generate leads and grow sales using Drift and chatbots.
🏹My mission is to help people increase their freedom and independence.
❤️I love to sell, ship software products, and build relationships.
A valuable but little known tip for people new to IH: don’t hesistate to follow up with people off the site. I email and have video calls with a lot of folks I met on IH and I feel like those relationships are stronger and more valuable as a result.
Hi folks,
I've listened to the podcast for a while and follow the newsletter regularly but don't participate much.
I had a startup in the past past where we
went through an accelerator
raised money
went through a VC program
had a documentary made that we were in ("Startupland" on Amazon Prime)
ultimately failed
had the ride of a lifetime
still have an offshoot of the product in production with Clemson University, and I almost never have to touch it
While I'm from Charleston, SC, I now work as a full-stack software contractor from Auckland, NZ and work on side projects (only 1 at a time, y'all) using Haskell.
While I mentor companies and devs regularly and always help others, imposter syndrome often gets the better of me, so I stay quiet on forums like these.
The best I can contribute out of the blue is a conference talk I gave on 'Behaviour & Your Team": https://robertwpearce.com/blog/behaviour-and-your-team.html. I'm not the best speaker, but it's a topic I care deeply about.
<3,
Robert
Hi Robert!
Why did you choose to start contracting in Auckland? That's a big move!
Thanks for asking!
When I was living in London a few years back working remotely, I met a kiwi girl! I've worked remotely for >6 years now, so moving around was nothing new.
Auckland has a high cost of living, but I love the people, and the scenery is breathtaking everywhere you go. I've been here 1.5 years so far and still like it.
That's a great reason to be in Auckland! I've never been, but I hear it is beautiful there.
Are most of your clients local or do you have many in the US or EU? How do you manage the large differences in time zones?
I have a couple of local clients, but I've found the best pay comes from companies in the US. It's worth noting that totally remote companies (like my main client, Articulate), are way better at different time zones and effective communication.
I work with people all around the world there, and with the vast time zone differences, it means that somebody / group has to sacrifice to make it work; this sacrificing should rotate through the team.
These relationships and teamwork are healthiest by keeping most communication asynchronous while also making a strong concerted effort to speak (audio/video call) every day or every other day.
Ultimately, the trick is to not have rigid process and see what solutions organically form. If you've got responsible people you trust and heaps of communication, then they'll guide the solution.
What sort of work situation are you in?
Hiya. I am Chetan and I've been "lurking" for exactly 8 hours :-).
I live in the Indian Himalayas in a little village. I spent some time in the US - I went to Kellogg - then moved back. I realized I love writing more than doing corporate stuff (I'm a published author), so I started my own place called the Himalayan Writing Retreat. We run courses on everything from writing to blogging. I think they're pretty cheap, as long as you don't add in the airfare :-). For those familiar with India, we're a 9 hour drive from Delhi.
Happy to be part of this awesome community!
Sounds like an awesome place to escape and do some writing!
Kudos to you!
This is a really neat idea - I just wanted to put a similar project I've found that I've always toyed with the idea of applying; I thought of it immediately after reading about your writing retreat: http://thearcticcircle.org/ - totally different place on the earth; but maybe it's useful to you somehow!
Hi there indie hackers ✌️
I'm a 23 year old student and love webdev and webdesign. I did a few pretty successful web projects in austria with a political/activist background and am now trying something different.
I've been reading Indie Hackers infrequently over the past few months and decided now is the time to start posting here because I'm my side project observely.net just got into public beta phase. It's a tool to create get an competitor analysis delivered to your inbox every week.
Hope to have an productive and educational time with you here 🙌
I've been blessed.
I was born and brought up in a village called Kajgaon in India where we had only 6 hours of electricity each day in a lower middle class family of four. As a kid I was crazy about computers, I used to work for local clinics so that they'd let me use the computer for an hour on Sundays but that wasn't enough for me so I somehow convinced my dad to buy me a computer when I was 15, asked my friends to help me install a pirated copy of Microsoft Encarta and read almost every single science and history related article available. I didn't have internet till I was 18.
My life's changed now, I live in a city, graduated in computer science two years back. Been doing world class web development for clients around the globe as a freelancer for last two years. I've also found a purpose that is to build even more efficient interfaces to the connected world around us and the technologies that surround us.
Launched my first ever app on product hunt (https://www.producthunt.com/posts/autopick) last week and honestly the encouragement and support I received there was overwhelming for a kid who tried to understand how computers work by reading BASIC code from books stolen from nearby town.
Now I'm trying to empower and encourage kids from my village to educate themselves at any cost to grow out of that place and see the bigger world.
So inpirational story. I was raised in he village as well. Since I remember I was learning how the Internet works from the books borrowed from my cousin, but I didn't even had a chance to use it, because there was not internet access in my place :D
But still, your history sounds way more difficult. It's great to hear you succeed, best of luck!
I remember carrying around cropped up pictures of browser windows from those books in my pocket and showing it to my friends in the school and telling them that it's the future and they thought I was crazy. basically pictures of cellphones, laptops, computer screens I used to have a stack of them with me all the time, even my parents used to think I'm trippin or something.
@ajithimself Your story is inspirational. Checked your product on product hunt and upvoted it too. It looks great though it needs some improvements and if you can solve business cards use case, I'd be happily using it forever.
Thanks for the praise, wasn't necessary though. Requestly sounds interesting, let's stay in touch, and holla at me if you come down to Pune by any chance.
Yes I remember, it's on my mind - the business card scanning feature, hope to build it in soon. Also I am working with a couple of startups to provide them autopick as SDK because it suits their purpose and they're excited about it.
Hey all! My name's Austin, and I can't believe I haven't heard of this website until now. I fell in love just scrolling through the site for a few minutes, and just had to join. This community seems awesome, and I'm proud to be a part of it now.
My goal is to start a simple SAAS (not 100% sure what that is yet), and hopefully earn some passive income from it.
Last but not least, I want to learn from you all, and bounce my ideas off your heads!
Looking forward to getting started!
Hi All! I heard about IH earlier, but I just recently discovered it's value. After listening to several podcast episodes I was really impressed with their quality.
👨🏻💻 My name is Sergey which is a common Russian name (e.g. Sergey Brin from Alphabet).
📍I live in Belarus, Minsk (ex-USSR) which is a developers land. We have not many business people here, but quite a lot of developers.
💰 I'm not a solopreneur now. At ASoft I manage a team and we develop Shopify apps, mostly for clients at the time of writing. I still do a bit of development in Ruby on Rails part-time.
🤦🏻♂️ During more than 6 years of development-entrepreneurship experience I already failed (= learned a lot) with several startups built from scratch as a co-founder or a contractor.
📈 Now it's time to grow our own Shopify apps with all wisdom gained throughout my professional experience.
💡 Pretty sure everyone will find some relevant content on IH. In my case stories from @Ryan @tylertringas @DallinKoski @FinbarrTaylor @gthartley @r_jacobs17 @andupotorac are the most relevant ones. Thanks so much for sharing!
🙇🏻♂️ Thanks @channingallen for creating this awesome community! Hope you can do more podcasts. I enjoy listening to them.
Hi, I'm Son and I'm from Hanoi, Vietnam. I'm still a student but I have some experiences with mobile/web development. After graduate, I will move to Japan to work at Fintech Startup (the company has raised 50m $). As a developer, I love building side project at home, and right now, I'm working on https://susube.com/ ( Save, Share and Discover the things that matter )
My friend introduced me IH, and I really love IH, this community gives me a lot of motivation and knowledge about building product.
Hi fellows,
I am Musharof, a self-thought front-end developer, trying to build online businesses. Working full-time with https://graygrids.com (HTML Template/Theme Marketplace) from last 4 years.
Beside GrayGrids, I am also running few more web design/development tools or resource-related pet projects such as - https://uideck.com (Design Resources, UI Kits, and, Web Templates etc.) also recently launched a free icon font pack https://lineicons.com (300+ Free Handcrafted Line Icons for Modern Web and Mobile Apps) and a few more projects are yet to launch.
Yes, I am working individually from home with two of my team members they support me remotely on specific tasks. Oh, I am also a regular student of computer science.
I am a regular audience of IndieHacker and its contents help for insightful learning and to explore amazing ideas.
My ultimate goal is to learn more and more about building scalable online businesses and moving forward :)
Hello! I'm Beekey and I live in Boulder, Colorado. I work as a software consultant while trying to build my own product on the side.
My goal with the product is to create an email client that can save professionals 5-10 hours of their time every month. I'm still doing user research so would love to talk to anyone who is currently having trouble managing their email.
Hi Beekey, I would like to know more. Does it work with Gmail as well?
It does. I made an email client rather than an email service because it is both easier to build, and it's really hard to convince someone to change their email address. I would struggle to do so for my own product.
There's an overview of some of the features I have as well as a signup for the beta test at https://maleega.com/ As I'm using it I realize I'm slowly coming up with things that are making it easier to manage my email, but I'm still researching what it is that other people suffer through with their email so that I can create solutions for those pain points as well.
Thanks for the reply. I have signed up for the beta test. Looking forward to try out the product.
Cool! Welcome to Indie Hackers :)
That sounds like a pretty specific goal for someone who's still doing user research - mind me asking what's driving you? :)
I'm pretty confident in a market for people saving time in their email. What I'm not confident in is coming up with the right product to capture that market. Lots of competitors in the field, but while they all have a niche, none have created something that has had the impact that Gmail had in 2004. Even Gmail itself hasn't really improved the state of email as much as it did when they combined emails into threads.
The driver for me is that I've always been passionate about productivity. I also spend a ton of time in email and always wished there was something that would help me manage it quicker, rather than some plugin that provided a minor convenience.
Hello there! I'm small indie from Russia, and my primal focus is to help people (myself included) solve their problems.
My first project after joining IH was "me-and-my-plus-one-as-a-service" to find speech therapist to the children, and currently 13 clients and 3 speech therapist are working with us.
My second project is www.threebook.co - simply list of books to help find your next read. I built it because I struggled with search for books. Now I working on expanding the MVP as I got some feedback from IH discussion & friends.
I really like IH and I try to visit everyday - it gives me a lot of motivation and specific knowledge.
Hey! Great to see another Russian developer :)
I just wanted to let you know http://www.threebook.co isn't opening. Good luck with your projects!
Nice to see you too, Sergey :)
Thanks for the feedback, I aware of that issue :)
Hi Guys,
👨🚀I'm Federico..I'm Italian 🇮🇹 grew up in Rome. I founded my first web company (still active today) at the age of 23, while I was studying law. I toke part of 500 Startups and raised $$$ for my company from world-class VC. After graduation, I started traveling and I had the chance to live in different countries: Brazil, United States, Chile, UK etc.
In the meantime I have carried on some side projects: 🕶️Kobrin (3D Printed Sunglasses) Emojics.com (Tool for collect feedback and leads through emoji). 😍
It has been a long way, starting from Italy studying law until I get to Silicon Valley and then starting again.
I really like this community, I hope to learn from you guys! 💪
Feel free to reach out or connect with me on Linkedin if I can help in any way: https://www.linkedin.com/in/federico-schiano-di-pepe/

Hey @fsdp, gave a glance at your product - emojics.com. This looks wonderful. I am gonna surely check it out. Nice and wonderful story indeed.
Hi @sachinjain024, thank you so much! Happy to be connected with you!
@fsdp yeah! likewise. I am gonna soon try out emojics.com no my website http://www.requestly.in. Do you have a product hunt link for emojics.com I can submit the feedback there.
Hello! I'm brand new here, but I feel like I've found my people!
My name is Teresa, and I'm based in the middle of Silicon Valley in San Jose, Ca.
I quit my full-time job about a year ago to raise my 3 kids and work on small business ideas. I started a "mom" blog, launched a photography portfolio, completed a digital marketing certification, and in a flurry of ideas, I found myself stalling.
My husband ( @gpcreativespace ) is an incredible graphic designer with a full time job. Together we want to work on "something." From online courses to simply freelancing design and photography, we are overwhelmed with options.
So I'm here, fully open to finding a technical cofounder. I love project management, workflow, and productivity. I have covered our home in sticky notes and idea mapping. It's a startup founder's dream, if only we had a startup (haha).
Feel free to connect and reach out with ideas, or if you are looking for a designer!! I can't wait to dive into these posts. This is an incredible community <3
Hello!
I am Breno. I work at Afterschool. We do outreach for YC and Startup Schools. We aim to establish a network of founders in London with the YC entrepreneurship culture and therefore diminish the barriers for people to follow their ideas. I am also a filmmaker at off times. Planning a documentary series in China atm.
Hello!
I’m Nick. I’ve had a bit of a roundabout journey to (hopefully soon) becoming an indie hacker.
After graduating from school, I first worked in finance trading tech stocks. After a year, I decided to leave because of the way technology is changing financial services. I hiked the AT (was something I had always wanted to do), and then got to work writing a research paper that would turn into a slide deck and eventually funding for my first big software project. I had never built software before, so my first year was filled with so, so much trial-and-error. (And lots of very kind people offering help and advice). Since, I’ve worked as a product manager for a few small SaaS companies. (And have found some amazing friends who also love building things along the way). I’m so glad that I discovered this path.
Along the way, my friends and I have built a number of small projects for fun, and we’re focused now on turning our latest creation into something that earns us some money. (And officially grants us entry into the club of indie hackers).
Eariously is our latest creation. (https://www.eariously.com/) Eariously is an app that lets you listen to the things you want to read just by adding a URL.
I think the most helpful advice I can share is that when you have a software question, you should always ask it. People who build things always seem to love talking about what they’ve made, and are super receptive to answering questions or talking about it. And sometimes you even make new friends doing it.
Thank you for reading! :)
Hey!
I'm Kyle, originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland but living in Chiang Mai.
I created a venture-backed startup in 2013, I got quite sick on my journey due to stress, so I pivoted into a lifestyle business. Now I focus on building passion-focused micro-enterprises in the software space.
Hey all,
Literally just joined after being linked to a post on here. Excited to be a part of it. The app is slick! 👌🏻
I'm Andy. I live in St. Louis. I've been a creative person for most of my life. I got my start in music as a guitarist/singer and have been in and out of bands since age 11. Designing album art, flyers, and merch led me to be more interested in design as time went on and later into web development.
Since the music career didn't quite work out I went to school for Graphic Design and eventually taught myself web design.
Fast forward to today and I'm now a product designer at Dribbble.
Aside from working with some awesome folks on an awesome app at Dribbble, I blog about web design and development at Web-Crunch.com. Paired with my blog is a YouTube channel where I make screencasts building apps and learning in public.
I recently launched my latest app called Affinicasts which took me about a year to build on my own.
Affinicasts features expert video tutorials and courses showcasing Affinity-Serif products. It's only been up for about a month now and has been doing decent for a brand new SaaS space.
I'm looking to take marketing to the next level and hopefully ramp up more subscriptions. If you have any feedback, suggestions, critiques, I'm all ears! Happy to chat :)
I'm also already thinking about the next app I plan to build. Maybe sometime soon I'll consider sleep! 😭
Thanks for having me!
Holy crap, look who's here! Welcome to the party man.
Hey hey! Super late response. Stoked to be here :)
Hi. I'm Scott, in Ottawa, Canada. I'm working on a "Game-Based eLearning" startup focused in cyber security for businesses, as that's my subject matter expertise, and there's a big need for training employees on cyber security. Anyone who's ever taken a security awareness course online understands how boring the content is. But it's becoming vitally important for businesses to have employees who can spot security and privacy risks, and make good decisions.
I've been building and running "traditional" computer-based training (CBT) solutions for a few years now, with good profitability, without much marketing. But I know there's an opportunity here, and I have some good credentials: 10 years of enterprise software product management, and 15 years of IT security consulting and training.
At this point, I have a solution designed and a full-time developer, with a commercial release date scheduled for November, 2018. It's not quite ready to launch publicly yet. Right now, I'm trying to ramp up "advanced sales" among my local prospects and customers who know and trust me.
So, this is my biggest challenge - selling a product that doesn't exist yet to people I don't know. I do have a prototype that I've shown to many prospects and colleagues, and have demonstrated in a couple of industry events. The reaction is overwhelmingly positive. But it's not at a point where I can let people play with it yet. The demo just shows a few pieces of what can be done, and what I'm planning to release.
So, I'd love to hear stories of innovative "pre-launch" SaaS sales approaches, including incentives for buying early. I will have a beta program in September. I'm also looking for potential "founding team members" who have skills complementary to mine, and looking forward to learning and contributing here, where I can.
Hi there, I'm Lukas from Switzerland. I've been doing jOOQ for about 10 years now, 5 years as a full time business, doing quite well. I've decided I want to grow the business much further, hiring people starting this year, and creating new products, and being even more transparent about the business.
I've heard of Indie Hackers through the incredible Sidekiq story, which has given me tons of inspiration. While it inspired me to grow the business, I'm sure I can inspire as well, e.g. to start a business.
With my little family (1 wife 2 kids), travelling has become a bit more difficult, so meeting fellow entrepreneurs online sounds perfect!
Looking forward to working with this community!
Heya fellow indie hackers.
I'm Snehal, I live in a 2 tier city called Hubli in India. Been on indie hackers for some time now. Recently I along with two of my friends @deveg and @omeal launched paybackhub.com . We are basically into webdevelopment. We often faced the issue of lack of money when we wanted to purchase certain tools that would help us with our work. And so we created paybackhub, where we wish to help developers/entrepreneurs by giving them cashback on purchasing a tool from paybackhub. As even a little dollar can make a big difference, which can be invested elsewhere. We always talk to companies, tell them about paybackhub and add useful, trustworthy products. Right now trying to reach many developers who are in need of tools and cashback ;).
Feedback and suggestions from fellow indie hackers are most welcome.
Hello This is Dwayne from New York i have joined indie hackers today , How are you all?
Looking to build and maybe leave a mark for the good of humanity..
Developer in the past life, 18 years at the same firm, and now I'm working to build my own.
Felipe from Merida, Mexico. I’m a digital marketer building http://immersejobs.com (with code and no-code tools) because I love AR/VR and the immersive technologies world.
Also I run fundador.co, a blog where I write all about startups and technology from Latin America.
Now I’m on my way of learning JS and making the first launching of Immerse. Very excited about it!
Heyo everyone :)
I'm Ben - it's great to finally meet you. I've been a lurker ghost for some time, though I'm happy to be one of the recent additions to the Indie Hackers crew. I'm stoked to be here with you.
I've been building apps for a few years now. Most recently, I've started a WordPress hosting company called https://cloudoptimus.com, and I'm getting ready to launch a brand new WordPress plugin, which I hope will not only serve and function well for the community, but also be ROI positive for the business.
I joined here because I wanted to share every step of the process for launching the plugin (whether it works, or fails fantastically haha).
Chat with ya'll soon!
Ben
Hey everyone.
I've been a long time lurker here. Decided it was time to stop reading and just start something.
I'm a marketer and so I've just launched a weekly SEO newsletter to help other marketers stay up to date with the fast paced world of SEO
Check it out: https://lostatseo.com
Got some interested things planned and I'm looking forward to getting involved with the community here :)

Of course you can join! :) The newsletter is aimed for anyone who wants to keep up to date with SEO news
I know something about computer programming and statistics/machine learning. I also know a great recipe for meatloaf.
Do you work with TensorFlow at all? Slide into my DMs with that recipe :D
Hi everyone,!
I'm Sven, alsmost 30 years old, born and raised in Belgium. Have been working in leadership positions at some of the fastest growing startups/scale-ups in Belgium & now just started out as a freelance consultant, helping other companies to grow just as fast. :-)
Why did you decide to move into consulting Sven?
After seeing so many VP's doing things in the wrong way, I realized there is a big market for someone with real hands-on experience. :-)
Hi, I'm Christian.
I'm here to build interesting things (ideas, projects, businesses).
I'm inspired by indiehackers agile approach to building products.
I led marketing for a few small startups (opendoor trading), taught growth marketing (growthX academy), and now work with startups on marketing strategy (cvonu.com) and mentor at a tech accelerator (german accelerator).
I'm using my experience working with tech companies to build my own.
I don't know everything about building great software businesses, so I'm learning from experimenting, from other people's experiences, and using these experiences to develop frameworks to build more productively.
Luckily, I have great friends to help guide me through this process.
My process is start building small and ramp up complexity. Websites > chrome extensions > iOS apps > web SaaS
I believe in building businesses around the needs of customers, so I work to validate needs of target stakeholders ( goals, concerns, and expectations) through customer discovery.
To better understand customer discovery, I read The Mom Test, participate in customer research interviews, create and analyze surveys, and interview people.
I believe in building products that enable customers to achieve their goals, so I work on matching UX to customer expectations.
To better understand product design, I read The Design of Everyday Things, studied UX at General Assembly, and participate in user testing panels.
Hi all, I am a Blockchain consultant at http://theledger.be . Outside of my day job I started working on a side project a few months ago together with a colleague of mine. I think we will have our first alpha ready in about a week or so.
Hey folks!
I'm Dani - just joined the IH community today 👋
I quit my job in April this year to give myself the headspace to start my own thing.
After working as a freelance copywriter for a few months, I hacked together my first ever business Scribly.io - an unlimited, on-demand copywriting service - in less than 2 weeks.
It's been the best thing I've ever done. I'm challenged every day, but learning so much.
In my spare time I write a blog about life in Denmark, run a meetup called Creative Studio, advise a UK based charity on their digital strategy and try to teach myself (mostly unsuccessfully) to play the ukulele.
Oh, and I have a really cute dog. You should check out @phoebe_the_schweenie on Instagram and see for yourself.
Welcome aboard! IH is very supportive.
Scribly looks nice and the content is convincing. I have done some blog writing as a service in the past but the issue I had was not focusing on a niche.
How has finding client been for you? If you don't mind, let's connect via Twitter or email.
Sure thing that would be great - perhaps drop me an email via the scribly website?
@DaniMancini - Great concept, i'd definitely be interested as soon as I get some capital! One suggestion, get your developers to put a certificate on your site asap.
Thank you for the feedback and the advice! Give me a shout when you are ready and let's do some work together !
Hey guys
I'm Dan, I live in New Zealand and originally from the UK
I work in marketing but always fascinated with the tech side- and looking to have projects created
Going the self funded route and just learning as much as I can about the industry, before I drop the cash into it
HI everybody. I've recently joined IndieHackers and with @janos we launched our first product here, https://newreleases.io which allows you to track new version releases from GitHub, PyPI, Docker, NPM... platforms and receive notifications in your email and/or Slack channel. I'm hoping to learn a lot from people here and try to help others in return. Good luck to us all.
Hello! I'm a Software Developer and Product Manager with most of my career experience in the IT Service Management and Application Performance Management spaces. A few years ago I parted ways with my former employer and took some time to achieve some "life goals" and spend more time with family.
This led my to my current project, http://pipegears.com born from an idea that was brewing in my head for a long while. It's a platform for building web applications, mobile backends, and api microservices without writing any code. I've just reached what I believe to be minimum viable product status and am looking for any kind of feedback, positive or negative, on everything from the messaging, product appeal, usability or just comments in general. And if anyone wants to try it out, let me know!
I've been lurking on here a bit and have found the community to be very friendly and helpful. I hope to contribute and try to help others as well!
Wow, that must have been a huge undertaking to build. I think there is a market for what you're offering. Just gave the video a like on YT. The video could benefit from moving some of the script from the end to the beginning, as I did not have a clear idea of what the product offered (esp. the cloud-hosted part) until the end. Also the music is not bad but is a tiny bit odd. Possibly something along these lines would be better: http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Scott_Holmes/Corporate__Motivational_Music/ The name PipeGears does give me the expectation that I will be doing plumbing by using it. Might be better -- if a name change is even possible at this stage -- to use a name that implies or connotes ease of use or reliability or automation, etc. rather than suggesting "here's a box of lego parts". Caveat: if your purchaser (not just your user) is an engineer then all of the squishy marketing stuff may not matter as much. Anyway, it looks like a product with real potential.
Thanks for the great feedback! I think I may redo the video to incorporate it along with some other good feedback I've received. I'm about to make the beta public and I hope you'll give it a try!
Hey! I'm Uday Singh! I studied computer science and graduated in 2016, have been programming for most of my life, and am working on a product called Epigrammar.
It's relatively simple: teachers upload files, students annotate those files, and we comb through those annotations to help teachers lesson plan, create assessments, and issue feedback based on students' notes. On top of that we providing grading, group chat, and a number of tools to help you run your classroom in one place!
Hey everyone, I'm Ozy and I live in Los Angeles. I'm a self-taught web developer who's always been interested in maps and geography. So I created https://geoshen.com, a media website that provides content to help people better understand the human made world through maps and geography.
I started working on Geoshen earlier this year and traffic has been steadily growing, though not fast enough where I can work on it full-time. I'd appreciate it if you took the time to visit the website, follow Geoshen on Twitter (https://twitter.com/geoshenmedia), and spread the word.
Aside from my interest in tech, maps and geography, I also love basketball and following the NBA. I don't have a favorite team. I just like watching highly skilled and competitive basketball!
Really impressive site. Good work!
Thanks Shawn, I really appreciate the comment!
Hi there!
My name is Gonzalo De Spirito, a 27yo chilean web developer.
I'm glad to know there is a community like this. Interviews section is the best 🙌
I'm running my own web development "boutique" agency, trying to take few but good projects. It is going pretty good, so far.
Would love to take some projects outside Chile. That's one of my short term goals, and of course, to create a SaaS or some kind of product would be great (if I can find a good problem I can solve)
Hi, I am Ibrahim. I live in Gothenburg, Sweden. I am from Maldives and just completing my Masters degree in Computer Science. I have quite a range of experiences from sysadmin work to machine learing and computer security.
These days I am learning react native and python-django. I intend to become very specialized in those two and intend to build a SAAS product on that tech stack. So far I am concentrating on finishing my degree. But of course, I want to work on my own in the near future.
Aside from those two tasks, I am also learning Swedish in my free time and learning myself to cook and hiking around the awesome landscapes in Sweden.
Hello, my name is Nikhil. I live in Seattle and work for Amazon Web Services. I used to run an edtech startup of my own called Classalyze, but now work as a Product Manager on a cool open source project called Amplify: https://aws-amplify.github.io/amplify-js/
I have long term ambitions to start another startup and love executing on ideas. I'm currently fascinated with Progressive Web Apps and think they're the future of the web.
Hey there, my name is Mike and I am from New York. I started working in IT back in 2008 and wanted to build a product that helped IT departments keep track of all their equipment. So, I along with a friend built: https://www.reftab.com
We've been operating since 2013, things are going very well! We've bootstrapped since the beginning and we love the process of building applications that make life a little easier. We've got customers across the globe who are now using our product.
I've been doing a lot of coding over the years. But as our product has been growing, I've been spending some time delving into the world of SEO and Analytics.
I'm open to connect on anything web dev / design / SEO / sales; you name it.
Hi, nice to meet you all! I see lots of interesting and inspiring people here. Thank you, IH 🙌
I'm Qi (chi), live in Los Angeles. My family migrated to the U.S. from China 20 years ago. After graduating from college, I didn't have the confidence to start my own company, so I continued my education to get a CS master from UCLA. I worked two years for ARINC, had an experience in a YC-ish VC program in China, failed many projects. I co-founded Smiley, a SaaS solution to help massage, spa, and beauty owners grow their businesses. We're still struggling to get product/market fit.
Thank you all and glad to join this awesome community and hope to learn a lot here.
Hi all,
Just found about indie hackers through a HackerNews post - I'm Isra, I'm a software engineer currently working at a SaaS cybersecurity company out of Raleigh, NC. I'm interested in healthcare tech, wearables, and AI applications in B2B as well as consumer space. Would love to connect with anyone/everyone looking to explore ideas, meeting potential co-founders, or plain interested in thinking of problems tgt! Also, I'll be moving out West sometime next year!
Here's my LinkedIN for a "professional" bio: https://www.linkedin.com/in/isra-shabir/
Feel free to connect!
Hello everyone!
I'm Pedro, a software developer from Brazil but I'm living in Portugal now.
I currently do some freelance job for the company I used to work in Brazil to earn some money while I try to start/continue some side-projects.
This week I finished a Slack app called Recordfy (https://recordfy.co) and will start to think about marketing it now.
A while ago I also did something similar. Smalltalk (http://www.trysmalltalk.com) is a Chrome Extension to record audio in Gmail.
I am new here but so far I have learned a lot from people, so thank you everyone!
Hi, I’m Marie, a Swift developer from France.
I’ve been watching IH for some time now, I even made a profile but never participated in any way. I’m finally making a proper introduction!
With my partner in crime Vincent, I started my company more than a year ago. After failing at our first product, we decided to change our life and way of working. We left our apartment, became nomad and started to follow the indie path.
We built Threader (https://threader.app), a Twitter client that curates good threads, and we’re working on a v2 which will (finally) include premium features. We also launched two paid apps recently: ipman.io, a Mac menu bar app to quickly copy/paste your IP address instead of Googling it every time, and pingman.io, a Mac app to monitor your ping from your menu bar and check which apps consume the most network.
As for now, we need recurring revenues so our next project will probably be a SAAS. I think IH is the perfect place to find advice for that kind of business. I’m glad to learn from you all.
Hi! Introduced to IH by my good friend @WarrenOF.
Definitely my kind of community. Just subscribed to the podcast, too - I recently worked out that I need to listen to 25hrs a week to keep up with my current subscriptions....
I'm British, living and working on a startup in Sofia, Bulgaria. Great quality of life, and an amazing adventure, but I'm currently thinking of returning to London (where I graduated an accelerator 2 years ago), or possibly Berlin.
Have basically been running businesses for 20 years - partly in the music industry (I was a recording artists and DJ for nearly 10 years), and have been running tech startups for nearly 10 years - although my home city isn't a real tech hub, so for the first 5 years I had absolutely no clue what I ws doing because I had nobody around me to tell me what I was doing wrong.
Anyway, looking forward to learning more from this community!
Welcome mate!
Hi all, I've been lurking around for a while, but as @csallen does a great job pushing this thread to the top every time one visits the forum, I guess it's about time to introduce myself.
I am a creator by passion, and I chose the profession of a software engineer as a means of creating; with 10 years (long time ago, in 1989), I moved from writing stories and painting worlds to building simple games on a C64. I loved how you could create your own rules and tweak everything easily with programming. At some point I was able to produce my own sprites and character sets (without knowing that I was just about to learn binary notation), and a friend's older brother explained to me how to write text adventures (with rooms, verbs, objects,... stored in DATA strucutures and a real parser, splitting commands by "and" or comma and extracting known verbs and objects from the input). Let's just say that, for a long time after that, my parents weren't really happy that I spent most of my waking hours in front of a computer, and admittedly, the latter hasn't really changed until today but at least my parents finally acknowledged that it wasn't as bad as they thought.
Games remained a large part of my career. I wrote an Ultima 6 like RPG (with partly "borrowed" graphics) for PC around 1995 (editor video here https://vimeo.com/12350612). With friends, I built a real-time strategy game mainly during my CS studies (screenshots here http://www.sechsta-sinn.de/_projekte/_dvw/dvw.htm), and in 2003 I was even credited as a programmer in an EA title. At that time, I also finished my CS degree, and I had to make a decision whether to pursue a career in game development or in another industry. I interviewed with a couple of game studios, but then chickened out because I also wanted to earn some money to sustain my other interests, like owning and driving sports cars.
So I jumped into the insurance and financial industry. This is when I really got into full-stack web development with a frightening large number of different technologies in the Java ecosystem for backend and server-side rendering, and an bloodcurdling number of JavaScript based stuff for frontend and/or backend.
In 2008, while being permanently employed, I started freelancing on the side (the sports cars, you know...), and I got hooked by the get-rich-from-the-app-store virus and built a Christmas-themed app with a graphic artist within a few weeks (trailer video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZKzmPQCTso). Truth be told, we didn't get rich, but I kept chasing freelancing opportunities and got more eager to start something on my own.
In 2010, after trying a couple of ideas which didn't work out, I eventually started a company with two of my colleagues, which is still my main focus today. We're 16 people now and active in a B2B niche business (we're specialists in building emoney and virtual account management software). Our products are used on three different continents and, while sales is really hard in such a specialized field, we're looking to grow further, slowly but steadily. Luckily, in a way, my co-founders like creating just like I do, so we're also re-investing parts of our revenue into building JVs in related fields. For example, this year we'll launch Value Manifesto, an Ethereum-based art project (https://www.valuemanifesto.ch/).
Even though I am married with two kids today, I can't stop building new stuff and exploring new opportunities. My wife is self-employed, too, so she understands very well; in fact, we're in the process of launching something together. While I've had some success in the B2B space, I still dream of building something in the B2C space, with more exposure, more end user interaction, and scale.
An overview of some projects is available at https://digitalbreed.com/portfolio; there's much more burried on my hard drives that I still need to catalogue.
My gravitational center is around Cologne, Germany, and I'd love to connect to likeminded people locally and globally!
Woops. This turned out to be longer than intended, thanks for bearing with me.
That's so awesome! Always jealous of couples who can work together.
Hi, I'm Volkan

Hey, I'm Phil. I've been coding for 20+ years in all kinds of different languages. About 8 years ago, I left my full-time job to start my own business. I've had some really great and really stressful experiences in the process but it has been worth it.
I currently build Laravel/Vue.js applications and have several side projects that I maintain and promote.
My wife and I travel and live full-time in our camper. At this posting, we are in the Kansas City area (Lawrence, KS). When I'm not working, you will find me working hard on my disc golf game.
Coding in C and running UNIX servers since I was 12. Now I'm 30 and the challenge is gone. So now I want to try going on my own. First step: ramen profitability. I want to share experiences with people in a similar situation. Let me know if you're ever in Krakow, Poland.
I am Grant Nieddu with State of the Spark, a lifestyle group of businesses that help Ignite Lives of Explosive Significance.
We have a website co, a bookkeeping co, and a social media co. We are adjusting the website co. for SaaS and scale. That's why I'm lurking!
Hello, I'm new to Indie Hacker. It's great to be here. I got linked from Product Hunt which I enjoy very much. I'm actually seeking to learn more on a specific niche on tech and hopefully learn soft skills like marketing and communication.
I started a company that creates website and web applications at https://businessangelsweb.co although we are focusing more on our SaaS (https://posangel.com) where we made a tool for SME to help monitor their growth and eventually has a single truth of their business which is the numbers.
Hope I can learn from you guys and this community on how you promote or sell your products online. It's actually hard in my country to introduce SaaS since we are a 3rd world country so we made a strategy to go from door-to-door and giving out flyers just to make sure our product could be known. We had several sales but still looking for other ways to market.
Cheers!!!
Hello IH, I've been a lurker for quite some time admiring all of your hard work and effort. I am a front end developer / designer that has quickly aspired to a CMO role at an industrial e-commerce store. I hope to provide assistance and answers to those looking to move into E-Commerce or the industrial products space. Glad to be a part of the community! I myself hope to launch a SAAS product within the next year in the nutritional space.
Hello,
I'm Mark.. I live in Queens NY. I moved back to launch a new app with minimal development skills... (FML)
I'm looking to gather as much knowledge as I can, and share some of my experiences if valuable.
Took me some time to break the ice but now that it's done I will be more engaging in the community.
Hi folks. I'm Chris, a startup technical co-founder and dev from Toronto. I've been lurking for a little while and thus learning from other founders. (Thx, btw!)
Thought I'd make this relationship a little more formal, and also see if I can help out in any way. I might even contribute at some point in the not-so-far-flung future.
Great to be here.
Hello there!
Just landed(thanks Nick!) and loving the place :)

Hello! I'm working on http://fastbmk.com/
Fast, lightweight and reliable bookmarks manager.
Hey. I'm Vladimir from Russia. I'm a procrastinator. I am struggling with my problem - postponing my affairs for later.
I have long thought that I can help in my laziness. And I realized - I need a good push.
I came up with an application where people push each other to motivate each other to do their job.
We gathered a team of 5 people and made such a mobile application - Whipcake.com.
It turned out effectively and fun. :)
Imagine you created a task that you can not do for a long time. And then there is a person who sends you a push-reminders about this task. A real, living person is not an automatic alarm clock.
It motivates, it's responsibility, it works. It helps me personally. :) And my team, too. If that, join. We will kick you. :)
And we are looking for marketer-cofounder.
Hi Everyone! My name is Giselle and I'm a digital marketer from Chicago. I currently do product, strategy, and campaign management for Push Notifications at Groupon.

Hello, I’ve just discovered IH and I really like it.
I’m Juan Carlos from Alicante, Spain. I built several websites from 2003-10, during the golden days of Google Adsense. During the last years I tech IT in a school and develop mobile apps as side projects, firstly in Android and lastly in iOS.
Since Apple launch ARKit I am learning to program augmented reality apps. The new one is shAPPes, an iOS augmented reality app for kids, built with ARKit. You can try it at https://itunes.apple.com/es/app/shappes-3d-shapes-in-ar/id1412316707?mt=8
Hi everyone! I'm a dev from Jackson, MS. I've ran a product agency in the past, then worked as a solo consultant until very recently.
These days, I've just started a day job as a frontend engineer and am currently working on building up DevLifts, a fitness company for developers.
I just discovered the community from a blog post my boss shared with me. Excited to be here.
Hello! I'm Akshay, Founder of growthwizards.co, a content creation company specializing in producing high-quality blog articles, infographics, eBooks, explainer videos and interactive content for content strategists, marketers and SaaS company founders.
Nice to meet you all:)
Was introduced about a year back but hadn't spent much time on the site until recently agreeing to lead a small consumer startup (www.lookoptic.com) and needing to get scrappy with decisions on how to run and grow the business. Recalled some great content on that topic here at IH and have spent the last few hours perusing all the areas I'm currently focused on, and feeling like I've barely scratched the surface.
Would love feedback from the IH community on the business if you're so inclined. My next big hurdle is creating video content variants for ad testing, with some relatively tiny budgets. Any great IH services I should be checking out that support production of simple but quality video content (GIFs would do) a product demonstration collateral?
Otherwise, some backstory. Sharpened my technology chops as product manager on an applications team within Blizzard Entertainment. Moved from technology to freelance small business consulting before taking a role as first marketing hire for artist marketplace Society6, where I led the marketing organization from approximately $10m to near $100m in global direct to consumer revenue.
Taking my first step (tumble?) into startup development, with occasional breaks for dance offs with my 2yo daughter or building minecraft cities with my 4yo son.
Looking forward to getting familiar with all that IH has to offer and learning more about the community!
Hi everyone! I'm Stephen, formerly product @ Google, and now I'm working on PMLesson.com, a site for self-service PM coaching with detailed lessons and courses online.
I'm excited to learn from the community on how to best grow the online course and best provide value to our users!
In other news, I'm an avid blogger at medium.com/@stervy and I'm passionate about the intersection of mental health + technology.
Hey All,
I've definitely been lurking for the last month so figured it was time to actually get involved.
I'm Jeff and I live in Toronto, Canada. I studied economics and politics in school so the tech industry was never on my radar until after I graduated. A friend of mine who was working on a startup is actually the one who got me interested in tech.
Soon after that, I launched my first company (getroxi.com) and though we had some challenges scaling at first, we were able to eventually get acquired without raising any money. It wasn't millions of dollars but it was definitely good. Plus we were very happy to have built something that someone was willing to buy.
After Roxi, I worked on a number of different side projects until I started another company (aircare.io). Initially, it was a marketplace model connecting hospitals with American patients. We actually "closed" a seed round and moved out to SF but because of immigration/visa issues, one of our co-founders was held back and we actually lost the funding. That was tough and definitely impacted the business and we were forced to go back to the drawing board. Now, we've pivoted slightly and are taking a B2B approach looking to hospitals the ability to offer loans to visitors.
Outside of tech, enjoy reading, sports, spending time with family and summer :).
I'm always working on side projects/ideas and open for anyone interested in jumping on board. I'm not a hacker by any means so any technical help/support I can get is a plus!
Heyoo, I've been lurking for a day or so now and think its about time I properly introduced my self :)
I'm Dan. Born and raised in Laramie, WY. Yeehaw... Graduated from the United States Military Academy, where I majored in Chinese (I already spoke the language), but wanted... no... NEEDED to do a study abroad and majoring in Chinese was my only option. Great short term choice, bad long term :/
After serving 5 years in the Army, I resigned my commission and moved to San Francisco where I learned how to code at Dev Bootcamp.
I've started and failed two companies before joining a startup fresh out of Y-combinator, Bannerman, where I ran their sales process, growing them from 0-1.2M ARR in about a year.
I left the company at the 1 year mark and joined another company, Keepe, fresh out of Techstars Seattle where I also ran their sales process, taking them from 20-90K MRR in about 4 months.
I'm currently back in the startup game with one of best friends, Anson. For those of you in SF Bay Area, ya'll might remember a company called Spoonrocket... they were one of the first on-demand food delivery companies.
We're working on a new kind of sales enablement tool called www.useorca.com where we enable teams to automate and sequence social engagements on Linkedin and eventually on and across other channels.
We believe cold emailing is on its way out (not completely, but definitely losing its effectiveness). Email prospecting, like any growth tactic, is subject to the law of shitty clickthroughs... and we think that social is the next iteration of sales enablement.
I don't code much anymore, mainly because I am terrible, just absolutely terrible. These days, I'm all about growth hacking and building relationships.
Outside of Orca, I spend my time producing music, singing, and dancing... and most importantly getting lifted with friends and family.
Living the life ya'll.
Oh and last thing... I always recommend one book in my conversations regardless of whether or not its relevant. If you haven't already... check out the POWER OF NOW.
Let go and all will come.
Cheers!
You know the power of sincerity, thank you for your words.
Hello Fellow Hackers,
I'm Darshan. I am from Bangalore, India. I have been coding since i was 17 years old ( currently 30 ) . I work as a software engineer at a tech startup and love to indiehack on weekends and free time.
In the past i have tried working on various side/hobby projects . Most of them have never seen the light of the day.
But Indiehacker platfrom & stories on people on this platform have given me enough motivation to build something that i can take out to the world.
I have been working on http://lynks.in for past few months. Happy to share that it is almost ready now and would love to hear feedback from you guys :)
Hello, just finding out about this web site. I'm an immigrant to Mexico and run a service to help those move abroad (https://www.beaforeigner.com). I also run a blog (http://www.keenready.com) about my daily life here. I'm a gorgeous geek at heart.
Just wanted to say hi, my name is Ben, and I plan on spending most of the time lurking. I am an active part of the angel community in both Boston and NYC, and looking forward to learning more about the various projects on the site.
👋Hey everyone, my name is Dan and I'm a full stack Javascript developer over here in sunny Venice, CA. I'd love to meet up for coffee! My goal is to hit $10k/month in passive income by the end of the year.
⚡I got started with building things when I built my first computer back in 2002. I got really into hackathons while I was in college and have been building software products ever since :)
🤖Currently, I'm building Slice Capital while doing some consulting on the side. I tend to focus on React/React-Native and building out MVPs. Check out some of the things I've built.
I'm on Twitter and also would love to connect via Facebook!
Hello everyone, my name is Alfredo and I am a web developer from Spain.
I know the Indie Hacker community since almost its start, and I had seen its evolution although I never had published nothing.
I hope to can aport something of my technical skils to this community and to learn very much from its members.
I am developing a side project, that I will talk about later.
Thanks and sorry for my horrible english ;)
Hi all,
I'm Sebastian, living down under for the last 4 years or so but also lived in Argentina and Brazil for pretty much 50/50 of my life.
I've worked in technology for most of my life, started as usual doing gigs with computer maintenance in my very early years then graduating to a full fledged developer after being introduced to it at school and uni and never looked back!
Have fooled around with the concept of a startup and even managed to land a first round of 1-on-1 interviews with investors when I was living in Brazil for an online stock market trader I had developed but unfortunately never made it further than that.
I have always been the lone entrepreneur trying to bootstrap ideas whilst juggling family, friends and work!
Hopefully IndieHackers will help me be inspired to try different approaches and maybe even find companions along the way.
Cheers!
Hi,
I´m Ricardo. I´m Spanish and live in Spain. RoR developer for 3 years and now working to build a business.
I work for a big consulting firm for about ten years. After that time, i wanted to do something completely different that allowed me to have more control over my time and learnt to code.
I´m working 50% as a freelance and 50% on my own projects. I have launched 3 projects but none of them managed to get any traction.
Working now as a freelance in the backed of an application called Leemur, chat stories. Also working in a new project related to education but taking a different path. Less coding and more customer development. Although is taking me more time, I think is probably better approach. I´m getting very interesting information mainly on things that I thought were important for people and doesn´t seem to be.
Although it was great working for a big company for so long, working with great proffesionals and making a lot of friends, I definetely prefer my job now. Hopefully soon I will find the way to be create a valuable product for a ton of users and spend 100% dedicated to build it.
Hello everyone!
I'm Morteza. Long time ago I had a side-project named Appjs (https://github.com/appjs/appjs). As usual, I was busy with my routine days at work so the project could not get big enough.
I want to get back on the train and start new side-projects. So I am here to learn from you guys and be part of the community!
Hi folks! I've been a super-lurker on Indie Hacker for a while now, but only just made an account. I love the idea of making something useful for other people that's enough to pay the bills. I'm from Adelaide, Australia, where I teach mathematics and digital technologies full-time.
I almost finished a web-app last year for scheduling parent-teacher interview times, called Meeting Times, but never launched it. http://meetingtimes.com.au
However, I am super-excited that I just released my digital marksbook for teachers, called ClassGen! http://classgen.com
I'm here to soak up everything that people have to say, because Indie Hackers is a pretty addictive website with a rockin' community.
Hello, I am Bilgehan, and iOS engineer from Turkey.
I am experienced with iOT/connected devices and Bluetooth technology, CoreLocation and iBeacons.
I am passionate about Swift (hello objc fans, yes I know objc is much better in a lot of ways, but still :)), have a love-n-hate relationship with Xcode, and sometimes when I am slightly melancholic, think that my only friend is my Mac.
I currently work on my own market-place application (which is available on AppStore Turkey) and hope to build its Android companion some time soon, if I can find some guidance or any kind of help at all.
I am always open to new ideas, so let me know if you need any iOS related help.
Cheers!

Hi, i am gator70, spent 7000 hours building my SaaS
Hi gator70, mind to share a link?
Hi Indie Hackers,
I've been a long-time, quiet member of Indie Hackers and figured it's time to say, "Hello 👋."
I'm Sharnie, and I'm currently a Software Engineer at Spotify.
I enjoy working on side projects, but I never thought it could be profitable until I discovered Indie Hackers.
I once built an entire app for the sake of boosting my followers on Instagram. It worked very well until Instagram gated access to their API. Here's a screenshot of the app if you're curious: https://twitter.com/SharnieIvery/status/972084899204288512
If you ever need help with code or social media marketing related things, feel free to hit me up.
Much love!
Hi, I'm Diya 👋
I'm a Digital Strategist 👩💻 & natural wanderer🏕️
I have completed my graduation in Business Administration back in 2016 and currently working with a couple of brands to help them grow and optimize the conversion rates 🎯
I'm ever-curious and constantly trying to evolve to be the better version of myself. At some point, I got into the Open Source world and amazed by the concept. Since then I'm loving to contribute towards the community and doing some pro bono marketing projects for startups.
When I'm offline from the digital world, I must be traveling to find the natural beauty and capture those experience with my gears. 📷 🌎
Hi all,
I'm Laura! First time posting on here. I'm currently based out of Toronto, Canada but originally from the States. No I did not flee the US to avoid Trump = P
Hoping to learn from all my fellow Indie hackers on here and share my tips on being both personally and professionally efficient and productive.
I'm currently the co-founder of Deputy Rabbit (www.deputyrabbit.com) where we help provide beautiful design work at an affordable rate.
Hoping to get to know this community better over the coming weeks. Cheers!!
Hi! I'm Jonathan. I started working about 5 years ago in the SF Bay Area as a Web Engineer, then took my job to the forests of the North Bay and worked remote for a year, then got laid off.
It's been surprisingly difficult to find remote work, so as well as submitting lots of resumes and doing hackerrank tests, I've been working on a passion project as a portfolio piece. I do a lot of posting on forums, and I post a lot of pictures. I got tired of dealing with various photo sharing sites selling me out as their product in various ways, so I'm developing my own web app.
The app is a somewhat typical photo sharing site with a bit of a twist to it, the photos will be stored in an easy-to-setup cloud bucket owned by the user. This gives them full ownership of their data. And, the pictures will be shared through a proxy, providing anonymity and collecting analytics for the user.
It's not deployed yet, but I nearly have MVP developed and I'm trying to figure out where I want to go from here. I started it as a portfolio piece, but now I think I should see if there's a market for it, and if there is decide how I might monetize. I've got a lot to learn, and a lot of questions for you all, no doubt. I'm looking forward to asking them!
Hello, I'm Marquis Shepherd new to the community looking to learn and become a sponge and soak up the knowledge from some successful entrepreneurs while being stuck at a regular 9-5 job its tough to get out and meet like-minded people. Also, want to help provide value for those in need of professional video and graphics for their marketing campaigns with my own business HERD Media.
Hi fellow IHs,
My name is Willy and I think I want to one day start something, but for now I like to try and come on to IH and read some awesome origin stories.
I've been reading some of the contents on here once in awhile, but haven't joined in on any discussions till today. This site serves as a useful resource about starting a business tech/non-tech which is the reason why I keep coming back. Its inspirational and insightful. Continue on the great work! Also thanks for creating this resource for all of us to see.

Hello everyone. I'm John Cole. 40-years large print publication designer turned developer in order to build a site where music fans can earn representing musicians music, merchandise, and tickets. Muezbiz.com is a social site enabling many to profit instead of the too few big outlets: iTunes, Amazon, etc.
This New Mexican first thought of the idea in 2012 when I became aware of Amazon giving an app which allowed their users to enter an independent bookstore, scan the bar code, then buy from them. That didn't sit too well with me.
For a few years I banged around Santa Fe trying to express the idea. I soon realized very few had enough background to understand what I wanted to build ... and, of course, most wanted money.
I made a decision to jump into Lynda.com and learn PHP, etc. fall of 2015. I've gotten really good at conditional statements. !-) The MVP is live, pimples and all.
I have recently turned toward becoming the entrepreneur instead of developer. Only today I discovered Quora's value with pretty fast feedback for a question. Faster then poking around AdWords. There are so many internet outlets to discover value gaining valued feedback. Now my journey is to work out messaging. I'm in it for the long run, and as of now, I have no investors.
I truly don't think the site is going to grow gangbusters, one never knows. Which brings me to indie hackers.
There is nothing like Muezbiz.com live today on the net where others can make money representing others people's content. It's the publishers of content and those representing it who really get paid. The site takes 2.9 percent from both, then pays all merchants fees. Very inexpensive advertising is also available with local conversations and global clubs.
Rattle my chain anytime. I look forward to reading and participating where I can be most constructive.
John Cole, aka Perky
Hey everyone! I'm Vidy, I went to an Indie Hackers meetup in NYC a few weeks ago because one of my friends had told me about it. I also just discovered this.
I mainly do iOS development, full-stack web development, UI/UX design, and produce music.
Oh also, I just graduated from college and I'm trying to get my startup off the ground & trying to learn about this world as much as I possibly can.
Glad to be here :)
Hi folks,
I'm Christoph.
I'm from Munich, Germany 🇩🇪
I made and sold https://www.LinksSpy.com - a SaaS for professional SEOs
My current project is the SaaS Email Marketing Handbook (https://www.saasemailmarketing.net/).
I'm pretty good with email marketing for SaaS/subscription-based products. If you have any questions or want me to look over your email sequences (for free), let me know.
Hello IH!
I'm John and I live in Montclair, New Jersey. I'm a software engineer and spend my time outside work on several side-projects.
My inspiration usually draws from solving my own problems or issues. In an earlier project (https://papyral.com) I tried to create a website for aggregating news/websites in one place and provide a place to share and discuss with connections. This is was my first attempt at creating a service for people to consume, but it took a long time to build (years) and I found it a crowded marketplace. Overall, the experience was amazing and I learned so much. Building a user-facing product is so much different than what I had done daily as an (embedded) software engineer. Papyral is still available, but not maintained.
I'm working on a new project to help reduce my expenditures on cloud services. I slowly built up a consistent $100+/month bill from AWS. Switched to GCP and saved some money initially but then built up over time to the same amount. Considering how low the utilization of my resources were, it was just too expensive!
I have a system I put together manually that allows me spend $5/month and host my resources at home, on hardware I own. Speed and connectivity are the same, along with reliability. This new project aims to automate the system (and network) and make it easier for developers to host resources on their own hardware, be in any location, and serve out content/resources to the Internet. Like ngrok but with features it doesn't provide. If you're interested let me know so I can contact you when I'm ready to open the door for a alpha/beta testing.
I have a longer-term vision to change app development/deployment with such a system and eliminate some of the resources we place in the cloud with the ubiquitous computers in our pockets.
In general, I'm hoping to meet and learn what other people are working on in the IH community. I'm constantly thinking about new ideas and I think this community is a great way to meet people who are doing the same thing I do in my spare time.
Cheers,
John
Hello, I'm new here. I found out about the community from a colleague of mine. I have a full time job in a company that deals with the IoT sector where I mostly do embedded development. But on the side I run a programming course for local graduates (I live in Cyprus) and also have various attempts at some small projects, either by myself, or with some collaborators.
I hope that one day some of my projects could become profitable, but I feel it's too early to consider that.
Hello, I've only just recently signed up. However, I have been lurking through articles and posts for some time now.
I'm Jack, I live in London, UK, and have only been learning web-dev for almost a year now! I am currently working on two projects both of which i hope to release soon. One being a to-do-list (i know, original!) and the other being a site for members to receive feedback and promote their site. Watch this space!
Spent some years leading analytics/product at various mid-large sized companies. I've decided to venture into consulting on data enablement projects to help smaller companies operationalize their data. I'd like to eventually build a product. This community has been amazing at providing motivation and resources necessary for entrepreneurs like me. Much love!
Hello guy!
I am an electronics engineer in the world of web development. During the past 10 years or so I have spent my time working as a web dev & hardware engineer. Last year I quit my hardware job to become a freelancer and while working for other people, build my own projects. Every day I am learning a lot about many different topics of running a business. Yet I don't have a big project online, just my sideproject pwdquery.xyz
I am going to start following indiehackers website (have been listening to the podcast for a while). If you guys need any hardware (and web) help, let me know! I would love to help ;)
Brand new to IH. Just signed in with the tweeter today. I'm in Tampa, FL. Started my own biz senior year of college in 2004 doing branding and web development, which has since transitioned into SaaS model. Currently working my keister off trying to scale WooCredits.com into the multi-million WooCommerce user base. Have 400 paid users in over 60 countries but running out of bandwidth and considering possibility of looking for co-founder/equity dev partner to reach goal of $1MM annual sales. Anyone have experience partnering via IH? Good or bad experience? Thanks and hope everyone is enjoying their summer!
Hi there!
My name is Peter and I build and manage networks and infrastructures for startups so they can build and run better apps as well as scale faster.
I'm moving from freelancer to becoming a business called "Hyperscale Engineering" https://hyperscale.engineering (WIP)
I also have a project to simplify remote access / virtual private networking that has been in the validation phase for some time: https://wormhole.network
Hi fellow hackers,
I am Bharath Kallur from Bengaluru, India. I work full time as a Software Engineer and also passionately building www.ideasplatter.com. I am learning a lot while developing IdeasPlatter and want to connect to some interesting people.
Most of my time while I am not working is spent traveling with my wife, learning music and practicing the Hindu Vedic literature.
What's up everybody?! This is Colleen, recently joining IndieHackers. ;) Definitely been learning from the podcast and finally decided to check out the community.
I have been working at a mobile ad agency for a few years and would get constant requests from our advertiser clients for something we could not provide - transparency in mobile ad inventory, especially that which can't be accessed through the duopoly. While we had access to quite a lot of this inventory, almost all suppliers choose not to be transparent.
After listening to me complain about that missing piece my developer husband started building a platform as a side project. Just last month I left the agency to work on building partnerships for this project and now we are a husband-wife cofounder team - what could go wrong?
Looking forward to learning from everyone who is a few steps, dollars and years ahead of me!
Hello everyone,
I'm Dario, an 31yo IT (both Italian and Information Technology) developer - founder of virail.com
I'm submitting my own story of moderate success, hoping to contribute to this community and to get in touch with people like me, expanding my very limited network of contacts.
Around 2013 I was broke because I used my savings to sustain myself while working for free for another, failing, project, and I was in a long distance relationship, my girlfriend at the time lived in Rome: I did whatever I could to save money, including comparing ticket prices for the 2 leading train companies who were running the Milan-Rome route.
As many IT guys, I'm a lazy ass, and as the task of comparing tickets was a recurring one, I decided to create a little script to fetch data from both sites to quickly check which one was the cheapest.
The idea was useful, so useful I decided to build a little web interface around it. Talking with an ex colleague, I also got some SEO advises.
In the following years, while being an employee for other random companies, I kept working on my project, because it made sense to expand the coverage to different routes and countries, as the problem was just the same everywhere.
As the traffic was naturally growing, it made sense to add also other transport means, like buses, planes and BlaBlaCar, as it was booming and perfectly fitting.
I met some business guys and together we founded a proper company, hired some people. Now it is a sustainable business with headquarters in Berlin and Milano.
I'm proud to say that virail is competing with big players such GoEuro, who is funded by 8zeros digits and counts 200+ employees. They are bigger, but it's flattering to think about the fact we are still comparable.
Also, if anyone is in need to suggestions on high scalable infrastructures, I'd be happy to share what costed me countless sleepless nights and save someone troubles.
Hello!
I joined Indiehackers to read people's stories and learn from them.
I am not really an "Indie Hacker" yet. I am a programmer, I work in a field called "high performance computing." In that field people write and execute code which takes a very long time to run. My specialty is very niche: I take that code and shave off percents of its runtime. Depending on context even a 5-10% improvement could result in a noticeably higher ROI for a client's expensive in-house computing hardware.
Ten years ago that skillset would remain solidly confined to large clients with deep pockets. Now though with cloud computing, bare-metal virtual machines, machine learning, and other changes in computing landscape I wonder if there's new & unique opportunities for people like me.
I don't know anything about making good UI or beautiful websites. But I'll talk to people and see what sorts of problems they need to solve and if they intersect with my skills. I've started attending development oriented meetups, particularly those sponsored by local companies. So we'll see!
I'm 6 years experienced web developer with expertise in Asp.Net Core, Web APIs and Angular6.
I am looking for projects matching my skills
Hi, I'm Nish. I live in Maryland. I am a Sr Software Engineer currently working with React, ReactNative, Gatsby, TypeScript, GraphQL and NodeJS technologies. Outside of my job, I'm currently working on https://spinthebottle.co/ with 2 other co founders. I recently joined indiehackers for an inspiration of ideas to build passive income stream.
Hi everyone!
Just want to say, love the forum and podcasts here on Indie Hackers. I've learned a lot, and it's great to hear I'm not alone in this tough journey.
I currently run a consulting company where I provide FP&A (financial planning and analysis) and accounting consulting with the main focus on ensuring people who use my tools are happy. It was incredible to see how many people were just not happy with their jobs, and by creating a tool for them that shaved 100's of hours off their monthly schedule, it was really rewarding to see I helped make their day a tad bit better.
My goal with my consulting company is to eventually productize it. I realized early on with one of my clients that I hated submitting proposals and then charging hourly for it. I'm hoping that by productizing my services this will eliminate pain points on both ends.
Outside of work, I'm also an avid martial artist and love helping others where I can. I'd love to connect with many more here in this community!
Hey, I am Nick. I have been lurking for a few months and have really enjoyed this community. I am product owner/software dev at a 9 person company called SVI, based in Fayetteville, AR. We build all kinds of corporate training software, but specifically a micro-learning LMS (Learning Management System) called Learner Mobile.
Hello fellow IndieHackers!
I am Renaud from Paris (France). I have been building websites for a long time, for various projects that I never completed. After graduating, I worked as an infra guy for a startup (then acquired by a big corp) for 8 years.
After leaving, my partner-in-life and I started working on Talegraph (https://www.talegraph.com/), a website that enables photographers to tell stories using their pictures. We both love photography and missed a way to share our adventures with our friends and family and not just plain pictures, so we decided to create it ourselves and try the entrepreneur life.
We are iterating fast and are just starting to get our first customers 🚀
So far the journey has been amazing, and we are looking forward to the next step!
Hi! just joined today. im Matt, been doing PHP work for about 10 years and just got my feet wet with fullstack javascript & React about a year ago.

Hello all, I am new to indie hackers, but have been quietly hacking away on my own coding projects for many years. Recently, in collaboration with my father, I have launched my first attempt at an online business - Autotutor.com.au. Autotutor is a high school maths and physics exam preparation website. Any feedback on that would be most welcome. Besides programming, my hobbies include cycling, weight training, and I've just started boxing training too. Lot's of physical activity to compensate for sitting in front of a computer for 10-12 hours a day most days.
Hi All;
I'm Mike, I'm a DevOps consultant and writer based in rural Suffolk, UK. I've been working in the industry since the mid-nineties, and still have an untempered enthusiasm for OpenVMS systems as a result (I'm sure it'll come back in fashion at some point).
As a consultant, I spend my day either working with enormous clients designing infrastructure, or working with startups to make sure they are set up and ready to deploy cool stuff to the world. Thankfully I make a point of working with more startups then Big-CO's since startups have a tendency to be more fun!
In the evenings I either work on my next book or try to cram Elixir knowledge into my brain to work on a few app ideas I've had.
Outside of the tech stuff, I spend as much time as possible with my children (2 and 3 years) and my wife wandering around the countryside and pointing at things and saying 'Oooh, pretty!'
Glad to have stumbled upon this place, seems relaxed and full of interesting folk.
👋 Hello, I've been here for some time, but only recently got into some indie hacking action.
I'm Tomas, I'm from Slovakia but currently traveling around Asia to get some perspective and see the world.
During college I worked in some startups as a front end developer and later designer. In my last college year I founded a "startup agency" Lunadio (https://lunadio.com) together with two classmates. It was a great experience, but after a year I knew that that's not the place I want to be in.
I left in May this year and I'm working on my first project FeedBear (https://www.feedbear.com). I "finished" a working site only a few days ago. Currently I'm looking for ideas how to position the service in the market / what unique value can I provide. (I asked about this in a separate post).
It's been only two months of this freedom, but I really enjoy it so far. And I'm sure I'll enjoy it even more, when I manage to get the first customer 😃
In my free time I enjoy exploring visuals through photography (https://www.instagram.com/tmvst/) and video.
Hello!! it's a big pleasure to be a part of IndieHackers community
Hello everyone,
I found here helpful topics and discussions. I like it.
I have a startup that helps companies easily process employee performance reviews and suggestion management. http://persono.com.tr
Hey there!
I'm Sanjeev from Bangalore,India.
I've started web designing using Django stack very recently and I'm open to some great ideas for web applications from anyone!
I'm looking forward to meet some new people.
Hi Indie Hackers.
This is my first time on the forum - avid listener of the podcast.
I'm a UX designer living in Edinburgh, UK and I have a side-project called Vocal which you can check out here: https://www.bevocal.co
Vocal helps businesses gather customer comments and suggestions privately and anonymously. Customers can find them easily by location and they can respond to customers through our chat feature. It's trialling in a neighbourhood called Marchmont right now but we hope to expand to the rest of the city shortly.
I'm not a technically minded founder and am really interested to meet anyone who is and who likes the idea of helping businesses understand their customers better.
Tom
Hello mates 🙂
I'm gilbert,22 from uganda and co-founder and CTO paidReview.
I am self-taught programmer and have always been fascinated by technology and how it can change lives . I quit my my job last 3months just to start a company and hell yeah journey began but turns out the journey fancy as I expected and lots of creepy problems that are bumping up will make it.
About paidreview , its an app (https://paidreview-web.firebaseapp.com) that lets you get paid by recommending products to people. Its really helpful for brands as they don't require savvy expensive budgets just to access influencers , they can rely on social media users since everyone is everybody's hero.
Other than am trying to build a SAAS company from a harsh territory, I hope by joining here I can find like-minded individuals who can mentor me , get partners as well 🙂 🙂 🙂
Hi guys! Nice to be here, great community!
I'm Matt, I'm enterpreneur and growth hacker from Poland.
I'm co-owner of fast growing SAAS start-up and a growth hacking agency, but your projects here are just great!
I hope that I'll be able to introduce to you some of my solo projects too. ;)
Hi,
I'm Ricardo. Been living in London for the last 4-5 years but originally from Portugal, Lisbon.
I am a full stack developer who has been focusing more in frontend. I am workin on a music learning platform that allows users to learn music through interactive exercises using their own midi devices. It's still very early but I made a landing page and after sharing to Reddit and some facebook groups got 180 people signed up, so now I feel also more committed to finishing this and put it out.
Would love some serious feedback about https://www.midicircuit.io/
Hello to everyone.
I'm a developer located in Sofia, Bulgaria and currently working on a couple of side projects. If there are any other indie hackers located in Sofia, Bulgaria please feel free to message me for a cup of coffee :)
@BlackShadow I just joined. British and based in Betahaus. Always up for coffee!
Sounds awesome. Let me just figure out how to message you in private, so we can arrange something :)
I can't work it out, either! Maybe just drop me a line - I'm Neil, and my domain is ramptshirts.com. Email is super easy to work out... ;-)
Greetings Indie Hackers community,
My name is Chris Stoikos. I am an outside the box entrepreneur that has created hundreds of millions of video views in the past 2 years using disruptive methods. I grew my last company, The Beard Club from $0 to $30M in revenue in 3 years.
I am now in the process of selling a chunk of my shares and my board seat to start another project.
I came across this wonderful website in search of a developer who wishes to team up and bring this wonderful vision I have to life.
Everyone on here seems super friendly, and I am honoured to be writing this post.
I am a high energy individual with a lot of ideas, all of which I match with proper execution. Building projects is my passion. I was laying low for a year or so as I just gave birth to my first child. This sparked the exit from The Beard Club, and the desire to start something else.
You can check me out on Instagram (I have not been too active) at: @cstoikos

Wow Chris. Impressive!
Hi there! I'm Paul. I'm a Lead Solutions Architect at TSYS, Founder of Rugged I/O and an insatiable learner with a passion for Cloud Computing, Payments Processing Solutions, Product Development & Serverless Architectures.
I am a full-time solutions architect for a payments processing company in the Atlanta area and live near Woodstock, GA.
About 4 years ago I developed a passion for programming and product development by working through the Laravel Framework. In that time I managed to build 2 SaaS applications that are https://ruggedtasks.com and https://ruggedprojects.com
Besides working on these applications, I am currently studying for my AWS Certification which I hope to sit for in July 2018.
Is anyone here working as a Cloud architect? Would love to connect

Hello,
I'm new to the community! My name is Austin and I'm in the St. Paul, MN.
I currently consulting as a Business Analyst and spend most of my time either sifting through some form of data or translating needs between teams.
I found the community through the podcast actually. I've been really looking for inspiration on starting a business and was pleasantly surprised when I found out about the community itself.
I'm a huge fan of new software and am always trying new things as they pop up. I've had a lot of fun looking through the things that people in this community have built, and hope one day I'll be able to contribute value in the same form.
Hi all 👋
My name is Jeroen and I'm from the Netherlands.
At the moment I run a digital agency and I am the founder of FullService (https://fullservice.co). We provide unlimited premium services for a flat fee per month. Our services start at $500/month and we offer web development, graphic design, content marketing and a few more services.
I started this startup with Arne Hendricks (https://www.indiehackers.com/user/Arneh) because oftentimes it can be really hard to find good, reliable freelancers or agencies and, besides that, it can be a real hassle to get constant high quality work done.
I've been on Indie Hackers for a few days now and I already really like to community! :-)
Hey there! I'm brand new to Indie Hackers. I first heard about this site on the excellent "Build your SaaS" podcast.
My name is Ryan Bennett. I've been in technology since 1995 and have worked for a number of companies in roles ranging from developer to Vice President of Technology. On and off for the last 6 years, I've also been a consultant and have done development, architecture, training, and strategy consulting for a number of well-known brands. I've also launched a number of small side projects that are in the vein of the Indie Hackers ethos that while unsuccessful, were great learning experiences.
I've hit a very strange wall recently and I'm working on figuring out how to break through it. I took a break from consulting in 2016 to join a company as their VP of Technology. The company was in a very turbulent period and I simply was not happy, so I went back into consulting. Soon after, my largest (and only) consulting client who had been with me for my entire consulting career closed up shop. Since this past December, despite attempts to rebrand, market, interview, network, and even begin working on my MBA, I've had very little success and close to $0 in income. Being 40, single, and with two young kids, I am trying to figure out my next move.
I've had opportunities in the past to join companies as an early employee that I was unable to take advantage of only to watch them become wild successes. I have friends and former colleagues that have built great products and companies. I just can't seem to break through at the moment.
Short story long, I'm hoping to network, meet some great people, and get some ideas on how to really capitalize on my dream, which is to eventually build a successful product (or more than one at some point) from the ground up. I have a list of ideas to draw from and I have the skills to turn them into products, and I'm already getting some great insight on how to move forward from this community.
Hi there.
I'm Bill. I am from Thailand. I run a small indie software business with a team of 6 people. Now we are focusing on our Cloud based HR software called EZY-HR (https://www.ezy-hr.com).
My background is in Mechanical Engineering and I self taught my coding skill but never take a full time programming job before.
After reading a lot of startup blogs few years ago, I and my friend decided that we should try to start our own, so we blindly picked one market that we tought would not be to hard which is HR.
I was wrong about it. Now I know the HR is harder to understand than my Thermodynamics stuff I learn in engineering school.
So we started with 0 staff with any background in HR or any related field. The first 2 years was like doing everything that got asked from our first few customers. This is very dangerous and a sure way to fail. Fortunately we survived despite doing a lof of silly things and finally got a real HR people in our team. After that, everything seemed to fall right into the place.
So one thing we learn is do not follow everything customer asking for. It is very important to have someone who really know everything about the industry/customer in your team and that person must be able to validate the customer requirements before we start implementing it.
Now we are very happy with the way that we are running profitable, bootstrap business with no outside funding. Lot of our customers asked if we are one of the Startups? but I always answer them that we are just a small indie <family> business instead.
Hello everyone, my name is Anuoluwa from Lagos, Nigeria. I learnt about IH, when Quincy Larson mentioned it on his Twitter TL. I am a self-taught software developer, I don't have any regular job now, I have some ideas, so I want to build viable startup and solve social problems, I need help to understand business part of tech(funding, value chain, execution etc), you can suggest helpful platforms, books, materials and any other resources that will help me on this journey. Thank you.

Thanks for creating this thread Channing. I'm new to the community; however, I've been an avid listener to the Indie Hackers Podcast. So I guess that makes me a "lurker". Anyhow, I'm excited to share/contribute.
For the last year and a half I've been working on a physical crude oil platform. We got off to a quick start and had 750KB transacted on www.theahe.com; however, we quickly realized that the incumbents did not appreciate the disruptive nature of our platform and were blacklisted. After doing some soul searching we realized the real issue is the friction involved with selling wellhead volumes. As a result we're building a SaaS solution ahe.meteorapp.com that streamlines the workflow allowing all documents / data to be aggregated and stored online. As I said earlier, excited to meet you all (I avoid y'all as I'm a native Californian).

My name is Prabu. I'm a developer with about 12 years experience working a variety of companies. I'm originally from Sri Lanka, but grew up in Sydney, Australia. Currently I reside in London.
I'm looking to dip my toes into building something of my own (or with some partners).
Currently in the idea generation phase, which I'm finding tough!
Any tips?
Thanks.

Best of luck with your enterprise!
Thanks @sebandres!
Hello everyone my name is Ibrahim. I am a self-taught programmer (more or less as a beginner).
Right now I'm just navigating myself through to the freeCodeCamp bootcamp, and it was yesterday that I received a tweet about a podcast from IndieHackers and so I listened to it carefully.
So today I decided to create an account here at IndieHackers and I haven't looked back or feared anything since.
Hello everyone. New to the community and I'm loving Indie Hackers so far :)
My name is Tony Lea and I am a Developer in Southern California (Close to San Diego). I've been working on a side project https://devdojo.com for a couple years now and I'm doing "OK" but hope to grow more. I'm currently at about $800 - $900 per month. I'm planning a new release of the site which has been overhauled with more content, updated pricing, and a slick new design.
I hope to dedicate much more time to create more content and add new features, at the moment I dedicate about 15 hours a week to my side project. I still have my day job and I have to make sure to save time for my family, but one day I'm hoping to spend all my time working on the DevDojo.
If y'all could take a look at my site https://devdojo.com and give me any kind of encouragement or constructive criticism I would love to hear it :)
I know that I just need to keep pressing and eventually the project will grow. When I submit my product here be sure to follow me so you can see how I grow after the new release.
Thanks again. Look forward to being a part of the community.
Hi Tony,
Took a look at DevDojo... very slick!
My first impressions are that it looks and feels very premium, which is a great thing. The production quality of the videos are also excellent, so +2 points for those features. These are great leading indicators to the quality of the products you're selling.
You know your site, products and audience a lot better than I do, but with my limited exposure, I feel like there might be room to promote your paid products in more places across the site. E.g., I dove straight into the videos and didn't realize there was anything for sale until I actively searched for it (knowing you have revenue).
This could be done in a respectful way too, perhaps listing your products alongside videos that have related content.
Another question I'd ask is, how often are you speaking to your customers and/or potential customers? How do you know what to work on next? You said you work on the site ~15 hours per week, I'd suggest possibly speaking with more customer during that time if possible (if you're not already :)).
Overall, really solid - I think the effort you've put into creating a premium look & feel was worth it. In my opinion, it speaks volumes about the quality of your product!
Hey Tom,
Thanks for the advice and the encouraging words :)
I love the idea of reaching out to the current customers or users to see what I should be working on, because right now I kind of just choose what to work on, so I think this would definitely add some value. Thanks!
Additionally, about the paid products I'll definitely be showcasing them more around the site in my new version I'm planning on releasing in the next couple months.
I was planning to have a Yearly Paid option where users can download any of the products along with a subscription. I was going to keep the price tag pretty low ($5/month when paid annually) ($60). Do you have any thoughts on that price tag? I'm wondering if I should charge more, but I also want to make the price affordable for anyone. Plus my main goal is not to get rich on my SAAS, my dream goal would be to make enough to sustain my current financial situation so that way I have more time to make the Product better :)
The pricing model could work well if your customers have a natural need for more than 1 of your products. From a quick look, it looks like you offer three distinct turn-key sites/apps. (I could be missing more of the things you sell, too!)
I wonder how many of your existing customers have purchased multiple products?
It also could be that the subscription pricing is so enticing, users might still purchase even though they only need one product and, in their minds, "might" need/want another in the future.
At the end of the day, you'll need to try it out and drive enough to traffic to start drawing some conclusions. Pricing is hard, but you've gotta start somewhere!
Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it.
This is my first time checking out Indie hackers and I love it :)
Totally hear you about the pricing as well. I think I may have to try a few different variations of pricing.
I'll make sure to follow you and we'll have to stay in touch! I'll be sure to checkout your product and follow it once you add it to IndieHackers.
Thanks again!
Hi everybody!
Long time reader, first time signer-upper.
I'm Tom, I live just outside of Toronto and I'm an engineer-turned-PM. My day job is working as a product manager for Buffer where I get the opportunity to build some really cool things with even cooler people!
However, I've always been driven by my side projects. A few years ago I launched Lessons Invoicing for iPhone (can link if you want). I did no marketing and it sees a few sales a week - those who use it seem to really love it. I haven't given it much love in quite some time, so I'm planning on giving it a refresh at some point soon and maybe even some marketing. Retention and love for the product is very high!
My current side project is teambook.io. I originally built Teambook to replace our "Team Stats" Paper Doc at Buffer, which at 70+ people, became quite unwieldy, and difficult to parse & search.
Teambook uses Slack to generate an automated Team Directory that anybody on the team can explore. It also aggregates the top messages sent each day in Slack (I'm loving this feature personally) and has an AI-based Slack bot that you can use to ask questions.
To be frank, Teambook has a bit of an identity crisis, and I'm hoping the IH community can help me hone in on what Teambook should ultimately be.
If you're a Slack admin, feel free to give it a go! I'd love love love to learn from you. Right now, the only user is Buffer and I've already learned a ton, but I need more input :)
Always happy to talk shop, or just say hi :) Thanks everyone!
Hey Tom,
This is a really cool project. I love the idea of seeing the daily top message. Sometimes there is so much going on with our slack channel that I can't see everything that everyone posts.
Question about your billing. So, if my team has 50 people would I be paying $150 per month since it is $3 per user?
Here is my recommendation for your Identity Crisis: (this is just based on first impression and what might have intrigued me a bit more)
Setting a primary emphasis on Team Management. Perhaps your headline could read 'Helping your remote team become closer and more effecient'
The reason that I suggest that is because although it would be cool to ask TeamBook what my co-workers wife's name is, I'm not sure how often I would use that. But knowing that TeamBook helps manage my team and the fact that it knows so much about my co-workers is the cherry on top.
The type of Team Management features could be:
Daily Team Standup
Notification of What Team Members are working on
Anyway, just thought I'd give you my 2 cents. The project looks really cool.
BTW, just upvoted your Introduction, be sure to take a look at my introduction and give me an upvote.
Thanks Tom :D
Hi Tony - wow, thank you so much for the response! I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts.
If your team had 50 people, yes the total cost would be $150. IMO, a $150/mo expense is small for a company with that many people, but only - of course - if we're delivering at least that amount of value! FWIW, I arrived at this number by asking myself "what's a reasonable price" - $1? Then according to advice from Patrick McKenzie, take that number, double it and then add a little. Thus I got $3. Also, $1/user just feels like it doesn't quite hit the value perception I was going for. That all said, it's relatively arbitrary, doubly so since nobody's paying it yet.
Re: Slack Bot - Couldn't agree more, while I see potential here, we use it very, very little IRL at Buffer. I imagine it being 10x more useful by, for example, integrating with people's calendars, or their availability ("Heads up! You mentioned Jennifer, but she is on vacation/out of office/sick day.", or "When's @Tom's next available meeting time?" -> "Book it!") Thoughts on this approach for the bot?
Thanks again Tony - going to check out your intro right now!
Yes! I think that feature would be amazing to sync with Calendars. I think the product is really good.
I know right now with the team I work with The Control Group, we use GeekBot for our team standups, but if TeamBook offers a Standup feature where we can add users to prompt for a daily update of "What they did Yesterday", "What they did today", and "If they have any roadblocks", then post the results to a separate room, I could foresee us switching to use your service.
Ah, awesome! Just checking out Geekbot now - very cool and simple idea. Definitely aligns with Teambook's "helping remote teams" overarching theme!
Hi, I'm Andrew.
I've built and sold a venture-backed startup, and now I'm working on an indie business to help other founders raise money 💰.
It's called Deck.vc and founders who are getting ready to raise can submit their pitch deck and get a report with recommendations from an experienced VC analyst. I'm also trying to do it with as little code as possible, as an experiment to see how far I can get with just Zapier and some other tools.
I'm in New York most of the time, though I've spent a lot of the last few years snowboarding in Canada and have a 3 month stint in Philadelphia coming up. I'm big into travel, restaurants, and concerts.
Hi there,
My name is Austin. I currently live in Woodland, CA but originally from the great state of Texas. 🌵
I do a little bit of everything at PagerTree. Our goal is to make a better on-call experience accessible to everyone. Been working on this since 2016, full-time since 2017.
In my free time I like to hang out with my wife and play hockey.
Hello, I'm Gareth, I'm from Dublin and I'm primarily a frontend developer.
I've been looking at the helpful advice and information on this site for awhile now. Its very nice to have a collective of like minded people who are striving to to achieve entrepreneurial success with their programming skills.
Its also very motivating seeing the success of others with detailed overviews of how they personally monetized their side projects.
Knowing what might work and what won't is invaluable information to have.
Normally, I'm writing down what I'm learning or what I think is interesting on my blog http://jsdiaries.com/home/ but I have taken a break in order to focus on a crypto currency dashboard with a series of metrics to display your profit/loss from a transaction.
My idea was to simplify data visualization charts for displaying profits, without being to complex for someone unfamiliar with detailed analytics.
My intention is to monetise it with specific crypto ads but I am thinking of introducing a premium service where you can save your crypto currency transactions to your account and can customize the dashboard in a settings page.
I may still need to expand on that idea for the premium service.
Still early days and its a bit buggy but you can check out an early version of this here. www.coin-profit.com.
Looking forward to see how I can improve with the help of this community.
Hey fellas!
I'm marketing manager of the music startup Louder.me. We are developing an eco-system for independent artists and music lovers who are looking for new songs. On the one side, it's a web-platform where artists can show their music and be heard, on the other — a mobile app where listeners quickly find unheard songs.
I’d like to get your feedback about product of Louder.me. Thanks in advance!
Hi everyone,

Hi All,
I've been a big fan of IH for a while and subscribe to the newsletter. I love the interviews. I'm a product manager working at a social enterprise based in Australia. I'm taking some time to travel overseas and am launching a little side project.
It's an email newsletter and I'm really enjoying the learning aspect of it - figuring out everything from scratch, putting together content, getting more familiar with Mailchimp etc. - stuff that I haven't really done since I was doing rudimentary web design for local businesses while at Uni.
I've been reading some of the forums and have found some things really useful so thought I'd sign up so I could thank some people and maybe contribute.
Cheers,
Tom
Hi there, I'm Thomas from Hamburg, Germany. I searched for an entrepreneurial podcast and found indiehackers on iTunes half a year ago.
I studied Computer Science and worked as a developer for a computer vision startup in the past. Currently, I'm in a management program of a mechanical engineering company. After two years working there, I have to admit to myself that I don´t like to work there anymore and the type of work in big companies is not meant for me. I stopped programming two years ago and have started to do it again since last month as I want to become a freelance developer and grow my side project.
I met a guy at my company who is my partner in our side project. We both like to learn new stuff everyday and recognized that we both have the problem to store and review all the inspiring pieces we find in books, blogs, podcast and social media posts, which we then want to integrate sustainably in our daily lives.
We are in contact with professional coaches who told us, that they have a similar problem, they call it "manage their knowledge library". While they are coaching, they need the right knowledge from their knowledge library just in time. Also, they want to share their content with their clients so that they can work on it between coaching sessions.
We are working on a solution to solve this problem for ourselves and for the coaches. Additionally, we are talking to the coaches´ clients in order to find out, how we can provide a better remote communication channel between them and their coaches.
Besides this, I'm very curious about you and your stories here at indiehackers and would love share my experiences, challenges and knowledge with you!
Hello everyone,
My name is Dmitri and I'm a CS student at UCLA. I've been working on random side projects at school / hackathons for a while but only recently discovered the concept of "indie hacking".
This summer I'm going to build some projects and see if I can make them profitable eventually. Either way, I'll learn something.
I'll be lurking around.
Hey There!
I've been lurking for some time.. it's time to participate

Hi everybody , I'm an italian "aged" new startupper... I'm not sure to be an Indie Hacker, for sure I'm foolish enough to think to become entrepreneur at fifty ;)

Hello every one, I'm Gurpal and I was introduced here by a friend.
I'm amazed by everyone's journey here and hope that my journey will a great too.
I did a diploma and degree in IT. Learnt to code there(HTML, PHP etc...), and throughout the years did bits and pieces here and there. But never ever felt like a good coder.
I want to build something, it's been eating me inside. Just want to build. But i feel a little rusty and I may have forgotten a lot of stuff.
I have an idea that I am looking to build. Will be looking for lots of help on how to go about it.
Thanks for letting me join, looking forward to learn from you all.
Hey there,
I'm Nitesh, I live in London and I build my first successful business in 2011 and ran it for 6 years working in online retail.
I've been running free entrepreneurship workshops for 2 years and I'd like to share three bits of advice I feel applies to everyone starting off:
1. Failure is only permanent if you stop. If you carry on, it's just an great story.
Failure feels detrimental and life threatening.
What if I told you the more you fail, the quicker you'll succeed?
If you've gone your whole life avoiding it, accept that one day it may happen and remember to be gentle to yourself.
Just like a toddler learning to walk, the falling down is as important as the getting up.
2. Growth only occurs when you're uncomfortable.
If you are sailing through, you're not at your potential. You can do more. After all, a job is easy when you've been doing it for years.
Seek uncomfortable, hold that uncomfortable level for an hour, then a day, then a week - and watch the magic you can create in one single month.
3. 20 seconds of courage.
It only takes 20 seconds of courage for you to change your life. That's it. 20 seconds to give your business card to someone famous, 20 seconds to gather the courage to pitch to a potential investor, 20 seconds.
Contact me at Become Business with any questions you need help with, I'm happy to help!
Thanks Nitesh.

Hello,
I am a visual artist and am in a continuing education program to learn more about website design, development, social media, and marketing. I have not read any articles yet because I can't wait to get off my computer to draw for my latest project.
Hey everyone!
Im a lecturer in software engineering at RHUL an entrepener in residence at Ignite (and accelerator) in London UK. Before that I co-founded 3 tech companies the last of which still stands (userelease.com). I left i got incredibly burned out.
Ive still got the itch to do thing on my own and as i continue to recover im looking forward to launching some of my own experiments and seeing where they take me.
This my first time commenting on the forum but ive been reading IH for a long time.
Hey, I'm Pablo Rosales, currently trying to move into living on my Newsletter and writing, of course I'm just getting started :) My site is at pablorosales.xyz check it out ;)
I'm a full-stack JavaScript developer (previously Python, PHP and Java), if you need something let me know!
Hi, I'm Viktor from Würzburg, Germany.
I love mobile development and work as the iOS developer for Garmin in Würzburg and run in parallel my side project – AutoWorkout. This is the app which automatically recognizes fitness exercises using machine learning techniques. Check http://autoworkout.app/ if you want to know more. And here are a bunch of articles explaining how the whole stuff works in general:
https://towardsdatascience.com/run-or-walk-detecting-user-activity-with-machine-learning-and-core-ml-part-1-9658c0dcdd90
https://towardsdatascience.com/autoworkout-how-to-improve-motion-activity-classifier-predictions-d047feead616.
The idea behind AutoWorkout as a project was simply to learn machine learning by solving a real-world problem. And it turned out to be a market segment which is truly emerging right now, so I'm excited to work further on that.
I had some past experiences running an educational startup and organizing developer community in my hometown Dnipro, Ukraine where I moved to Germany some years ago from, so feel free to ask for help!
I really enjoy being a part (hopefully more active in the future) of IH community because of how much value it brings to those individual devs like you and me.
Hello there! I'm Luana, a Brazilian expat living in Dublin, Ireland. I work as a UX Designer and I am also working on my side hustle, which is an App to help women with curly and coiled hair to find organic products.
My main goal is to give women of colour a chance to find better products that are not linked to cancer or fibroids, . I'm working on the discovery (research phase) still. Landing page is on (www.curlita.com) but probably will go through some changes before the MVP.
Hi, I'm Chris, based in Windsor in the UK and working as a python/javascript developer (mostly Django, NuxtJS and VuetifyJS) in Hammersmith
I just launched (and am now trying to work out how to market) https://www.python-private-package-index.com/, a cloud-based private Python package index. Its designed to take away the effort and hosting costs of open source, self hosted solutions such as devpi, pypiserver and pypicloud, at a much lower price point than existing products like packagecloud, cloudsmith and gemfury.
I've just started another thread asking for feeback on this at https://www.indiehackers.com/forum/looking-for-feedback-on-my-project-private-python-package-index-7f8d8dd14b. Would really appreciate any kind of feedback you have on this - is it a tool you'd find useful, are there any features you'd like to see added, etc? I'm also interested in any suggestions of how I might market it - as a developer by trade, the marketing side is something I'm still getting to grips with
Hi All, I stumbled across this place recently and I like the vibe. Bit more grounded in reality.
I've been hacking about with all sorts of code since I was a kid way back when.
I've had a couple of successes and have recently cleared the decks to start afresh on a couple of projects. Both consumer mapping apps/sites, which hopefully I'll be able to share with you in the not too distant. One with an obvious revenue stream, the other just a bit of fun with no obvious income, but it's an itch I want to scratch.
Hello, everyone!
My name is Allen Elks. I live in the triangle (Raleigh, NC). I learned to build websites in the late 1990's, and I've spent the last 11 years as a software engineer. I worked as a developer in the adult entertainment industry for a long stretch of my career. I have co-founded a company that I later left and worked at another startup a few years ago. Both last a bad taste in my mouth.
I'm currently in grad school for technology entrepreneurship. I have found it quite valuable, and our curriculum suggests we use our coursework to launch a venture. I love blending the things I'm learning from academia with the lessons from the Indie Hacker community.
My current status is 'Exploring'. I'm trying to talk with as many designers as possible to better understand their issues and validate some product ideas.
Hello there,
I'm Mark from Amsterdam, The Netherlands. New to Indie Hackers, so didn't participate much (yet). I'm building a new survey/form solution called Tripetto (demo here https://codepen.io/tripetto/project/full/AbbmLR/ if you are interested and want to have a look. It's a rather unique approach I think 😉).
Now looking for ways to gain attention for it. Did a launch on Product Hunt yesterday. Indie Hackers seems interesting as well. But still figuring out how... Let me know if you have any advice on the product itself or building up an audience!
Hey,
My name is Dave and this is my first time on IH. I am a recent college grad and I joined the community to gain insight on how to grow a startup. I recently launched a website: https://crowdlustro.com/
The site is an aggregation of investment crowdfunding deals from all major portals and allows investors to write and share reports/advice on these investments. When I started searching for crowdfunding investments it was tedious because it requires searching through many different portals with different accounts etc. I made this site to make the process easier for myself and hope it can help others as well.
I would love feedback/advice on any aspects of the site.
Hey there, I'm Nick and I am a web developer. I just recently found out about Indie Hacker and just started listening to the podcast. I've had the idea of having my own business for a year or so now and am hoping to learn a lot here.
Hi,
I'm Joris and I'm a math Ph.D dropout who started dabbling in iOS and Android programming. I'm currently mostly doing contracting work for one big client (educational company). I've been in a few small startups but none have taken off.
The last few years I've worked on my own idea (MusiMate, a classical karaoke app for aspiring cellists) and that was a very draining experience since I was doing everything from composing, music editing, audio editing/mastering, backend, frontend, to marketing. The last of which I'm the least good at, probably one of the reasons for its failure.
I'm currently living in Taipei with my wife and two kids (but soon moving back to my home country the Netherlands) and I'm learning Mandarin. Right now, I'm deliberating whether to start a new language learning platform/app. I'm a little hesitant to start it by myself giving my past experiences, so I've been trying to find some likeminded people with similar interests.
Hey Joris,
I'm in Taipei right now (also with wife and kids, ha), Have a ESL Facebook/Youtube platform and am looking to start a language learning app. Wanna grab coffee ? :-)
Hello, I am a UI designer and I live in Montreal. I always was interested in online businesses. When I was 20 I started designing websites and generating traffic through blogging. I then launched a wrestling company that paid for my university. After school, I freelanced in graphic design.
I now run an agency that specializes in UX and UI for data-rich applications (ffctn.com). It's a small team but I got to work on lots of different user interfaces with small and large organizations.
I am also working on a project planning tool for agencies called Min.team to help bring visibility on the pipeline.
I love working on products and I want to do more of that in the next few years. You can reach out on LinkedIn if you sense an opportunity: https://www.linkedin.com/in/audreelapierre/
Hello, hackers!
I'm Igor, entrepreneur and developer from Russia, who likes to build things from the ground up.
I'm working as independent consultant, developers team lead and mentor, but also participate in several startups and side projects as technical person.
Some stuff about me on the Internet:

Besides doing consulting for the living, I participate in online medical service startup - Medetel, developers-friendly content management SaaS APIQ, and e-commerce development company Zellmo.
Hi Igor! Glad to see other hackers from this part of the world :)
I see Zellmo does Shopify related work. What kind of work do you do there?
Hello, Sergey!
Yes, we're doing Shopify apps, store setups and themes development. Actually anything related to Shopify platform
Hello! I'm Alex. I've been lurking here for a while indeed 🙂
The most interesting stories to me are from those who have been lucky enough to succeed by their own merits.
I'm a freelancer, developing community-related software for over 10 years - mostly extensions to existing forum platforms and migration tools.
My dream project relates to a privacy-centric access control system that solves many pain points of the current web applications.
Hi there - long-time lurker here.
I'm a technology consultant and data scientist (read more about me here https://ericbrown.com). I've been working for myself for a long time and a few years ago got tired of selling my hours and started looking for ideas to build a few products.
In 2014 I launched Trade The Sentiment, which was based on my doctoral dissertatioin. The website was a service for investors who wanted to use social sentiment for investing decisions (I use twitter messages and Natural Language Processing / Machine Learning to generate sentiment readings). In 2015 I sold the business to https://sentimentrader.com and joined the acquiring company as CIO and part -owner. Since then, I've been focused on building out https://sentimentrader.com to modernize the site and add additional features.
I currently spend 50% of my time on https://sentimentrader.com and about 25% of my time on consulting projects while working on new side-hustle ideas.
I've been following Indie Hackers for a while now and love reading about the various ideas people have.
Hello Fellow Hackers,
This is Nishant, I am mobile app developer having 8 years of experience. So basically I am developing apps since iOS 3 :)
I have expertise in developing, promoting & scaling mobile applications
I run a mobile app consulting agency https://mobilefirsthq.com
I am also working on a product called "AppFixers" which is Application Maintenance As A Service. Planning to launch it soon.
Hey all
My name is Rohan and I live in the NYC metro area. While I'm sure I have a lot in common with others here, there might be one area where I'm different than many of you --- I have next to no technical ability.
I can handle some basic site building and plugin config stuff, and that's about it. Many of you seem like talented developers so I envy you!
But a little about me: I've spent my professional career in digital strategy and ops, working both for big agencies and big brands. I've built and run a somewhat-notable ecomm business in the past. And I'm definitely happiest building things and helping others think through those nebulous topics that I seem to feel at home with like strategy, positioning, branding, etc..
In my day job, I run large-scale digital retail ops efforts for a big brand.
Looking forward to getting a bit more involved where I think I can add value for others.
Hey everybody! 😁
I'm Jake, lover of all things food and fitness (mostly weightlifting, Jiujitsu, and yoga.)
I'm really passionate about UX design and entrepreneurship. And I enjoy copywriting and front end development too. 💻💼
I love learning new things and meeting new people. 📩 Shoot me a message if you're interested in anything I mentioned. Or if you're not, I'd love to learn more about your interests. 🙌🏻
Hi guys! I'm Bartosz from Germany.
I'm trying to build a startup from many years 😁 But now I'm a MegaMaker and nugget.one member. I think you are amazing! I hope that I am successful too. I want to make a like roninapp for virtual assistants. Good luck guys!
Hi, I'm a communication scientist who is currently working in Indonesian private university. Instead of my academic work, I am curious in building a tech product and keep updated with tech trends.
Before I join the university, I used to work in a digital agency as a digital strategist. I designed and plan a digital strategy for several brands I handled. I also host and created a digital marketing talk for Indonesian people who interested in digital marketing. Please see www.pejuangdigital.id and www.thehatch.id if you want to know about it.
Now, im currently building a tech product called Nomadspace. It is a platform to help a digital nomad to find a convenient coffeeshop to work.
Hello everyone, brand new here.
I am a software engineer in Chicago coming from a non-traditional route. I was an Econ / Spanish major in undergrad and my first job was in healthcare consulting. After about a year I was teaching myself to program and that ended up becoming something I was so passionate about I could not think of doing anything else, so I ended up enrolling in a bootcamp and leaving that job.
I have now been a full-time engineer for a SaaS company in Chicago for 11 months and love what I do. However, I have had the entrepreneurial "itch" for over a year and actually tried to start a consulting business last year and I would say it went pretty mediocre at best...
I dream of bootstrapping my own SaaS company in the coming years and hope this community can provide inspiration and guidance. I am beginning to think of ideas to launch as side projects and plan to implement side project marketing and sales tactics to get my product to Beta. I am also starting the Masters in Computer Science Program at DePaul in the Fall part-time, which should keep me busy.
Personally, I love to surf, play soccer, code, play video games (big Fortnite fan right now), watch and read Star wars and hang out with my wife and puppy. I am looking forward to connecting and starting my Indie Hacker journey!
Hey there,
Replying to this post has been on my todo for a couple of days now.
I'm Emil
I've worked at a kindergarten till last week as alternative to mandatory military service in Austria
As I've already done before, I now work full time on my side-projects:
Find Better Questions (a tool for Quora Marketing) and
Votre (a Personal Relationship Manager and Diary)
Find Better Questions is my focus now, as I see more demand for that. I started building Votre for myself, and just to learn coding in general.
findbetterquestions.com was started with the people / potential customers. I've been working on it way too long without launching it, but it will go live in June now.
Hey Emil!
Good luck with Find Better Questions. I will follow your work on it. Quora marketing is what I will be looking very closely soon.
By the way, the link in your comment has a typo in it (no worries, we all make them every once in a while).
Thanks! fixed it
I'm always up for a chat about Quora
Hi everyone, I'm Tarek and totally new to IH.
I worked in finance for a large corporation and now I've transitioned to working on a couple of projects including BizDev for a web-hosting company (eurovps.com) and building a startup that we hope will be a great resource for growth marketeers and online entrepreneurs of all kinds and backgrounds (growthmentor.io) Our new sign-up page went live a few weeks back and we'll be launching beta very soon so exciting times ahead :)
I decided there's no time like the present to reach out, share my experiences and hopefully get to learn about building a successful online business from some of you talented, interesting and inspiring people out there.
Hey! I'm Noah. I'm 17 (almost 18) and I build a conference app SaaS platform! I'm a full-stack JavaScript developer but I specialize in backend. I've been a developer since I was 13.
I own a company called Filiosoft where I do most of my work.
Hi, I'm Simon. I live in a small town called Andover in Hampshire, England. I have been building things and programming since I was fortunate enough to be donated a 386 IBM compatible in 1996.
My day job as a software engineer involves building online platforms for various pharma companies.
Outside of my day job I have built tapestry.cloud a blog aware, extendable, static site generator that uses the PHP Plates template system; as well as a small, yet growing ecosystem of documentation, plugins and examples.
Cool to see I'm not the only Iowan here!
Hello all, I'm Luke, a UX designer and research in Iowa City. I've been doing web UI design since around 2000 or 2001, and have worked in all creative design aspects of IT during that time but really focused on user interfaces and product UX.
I was self-employed for years but couldn't get along with my boss so I eventually hooked up with a NYC-based startup, riding along and helping them make their products for 3+ years as they grew. (This was around when Bootstrap CSS came out and it permanently changed my brain.) I then spent a few years at a large private biotech company designing UIs for ordering custom DNA and RNA products, surrounded by smart scientists who constantly challenged my ideas and made me a better designer and person.
I spent the last few years working through a design agency with a Fortune 100 client helping them design embedded display UIs for GPS-guided vehicles and machinery.
I'm currently a free agent, managing our family's rental properties and enjoying being a dad while my 2 little ones are still little and searching for some good, smart people to join on some interesting new UI or UX product work. And in the meanwhile I am attempting to fulfill a decade-old dream of learning Ruby on Rails, via Michael Hartl's tutorial.
Ello folks, How's it going?
I'm Ian, I live in Berlin. I currently freelance as a writer. I have generally messed about with all aspects of tech for a long time, alongside being a performer and technician. While I frequently am caught with Ableton open on one screen and VScode on the other, I'm equally as likely to be found in a cloud of solder smoke.
Outside of that, I'm a Gym noob, a damn good cook, and a nervous expectant father.
Recently started taking code a little more seriously and am concentrating mostly on React since it's my favorite 'flavor of the week' frontend, and Python after being converted by a friend.
I'm very much at the stage where I'm making some example projects partly for fun and partly as a portfolio. In the future, I hope to be working in software or web dev, and still writing - hopefully doing both for the same company!
Your blog is great. I read a lot of interesting things from it. Thank you very much for sharing. Hope you will update more news in the future.

Hello Indie Hackers!
I'm Jonny and I live in Baltimore, Maryland. I started my career as a software developer, but have since transitioned into marketing. I still enjoy front-end dev. I joined IndieHackers to learn and network with more like-minded, entrepreneurial people.
I currently do consulting with my business partner, and in our spare time we create side projects.
Our latest project is https://www.startupsfromthebottom.com, where we deliver a startup idea in your inbox every day.
When I'm not working, I like to spend most of my free time hanging out with friends and family.
That's an interesting transition! What makes you enjoy marketing more than development?
Hi there,
My name is Sahar, I'm a backend engineer, originally from Alexandria, Egypt, recently moved to the bay area. I'm currently working on http://twirl-app.com/, enabling fashionable items to be smart in the sense that they become discoverable, helping people to show off their unique styles. My current goals are:
`
Market research, how to reach out to interested users, find my customer.
Partnership strategy with young fashion designers and retailers.
`
Glad I came across this community, always love to connect with other professionals working on their ideas.
✌️ Hey!
🙆♂️ I'm Marcin, but to make your life easier, you can call me Martin
⚔️ Design is my weapon to fight with Problems I encounter. I have experience with Branding, UI/UX design, Marketing and a bit in programming. I like to have knowledge in different fields.
👨💻 I'm currently working on my side-product I've built from scratch: https://mailist.app – a Very simple app which helps you not forget about things you saved to read later. Try it out! :)
🛎 How can I help you? I can guide you through the whole process of introducing a product to any market.

🌞 Have a good day!
Mailist That's actually very nice! Signing up now!
Hi, y'all, this is luis ignacio.
Is there anyone around interesting in space? as in: "let's conquer the galaxy?" This is really questions. I'm looking for partners who are probably insane enough to pursue such goal. Contact me, l'd love to talk about this more with ya.
Hi,
I'm Jan. I'm from Nuremberg, Germany, currently living in the nearby Fürth but I'm half British. I've come across IH a couple of times now and thought the time right to sign up.
By profession I'm a full-stack developer (PHP, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS / SASS) with a background in startups - I've founded startups and helped startups for the last 10 years - my last position was as Head of IT at the new ZOLLHOF startup incubator here with partners such as Adidas and Siemens.
Burnout and a couple of unfortunate circumstances have given me a new look on the whole scene which has made me a lot more critical about it. The result is that the IH movement makes more and more sense to me by the day. Currently, I work as a developer at a software consulting company based here where I help well-known German bank build software. In my spare time, I'm building two side projects - one for fun (a digital version of a 4000-year-old board game called Ur) and another one (hopefully) for profit (a tool that helps people organise their household).
I'm glad to be here and I'm looking to get to know a lot of you more :)
Hey all!
I'm Steven, I'm a full time Software Engineer in Cambridge. Right now I'm looking to start a side hustle / project - nothing happening just yet!
Hi, it's Anton!
I've heard Courtland in his interview in CodeNewbiew podcast and decided to join you, guys.
I've always wanted to create great things in the IT world, but programming seemed difficult to me, I tried online courses, and I gave up every time.
I still think that I have to be able to code at least some prototype to launch and lead my own IT (preferably AI) company.
Recently I've started to learn JS again (FreeCodeCamp) with the intention to become free, be able to live anywhere in the world and build my own company (I'm 25 now).
Tell me please what to read, what to learn and practice, and how to use IH the right way to assist me with my goals.
Thank you.
Hi, I am Giorgio. I currently work full time as a data scientist. I use statistics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to make optimal decisions based on data. Normally I work using clusters of machines to process TB/PB of data for my models. This is what people call "Big Data."
This is not just my work. I just love doing it. It permeates and drives other decisions that I make in my life - from which car to buy, to finding a job. Maximize efficiency with the information I have is my modus operandi.
I tried and failed at my first startup attempt. Back in 2010 I founded a Saas company that simulated the world energy market and predicted energy prices, among other things. I recruited 3 people that were working for me just based on equity, no cash involved, in their spare time. I regrettably made a lot a mistakes first time founders make. 4 years into this side project, and 2 kids more than when I started, I called it a day.
I have learned a lot from that experience and promised myself I was going to give it another try, with a more systematic approach this time around. I want to learn from you all to maximize my chances of success.
Hi, I'm Matt. I co-founded Stormpulse.com in 2007 and launched it in 2008. It became an epic bootstrapping journey from nothing to profitable freemium and finally raising VC in 2013. We pivoted to enterprise SaaS as Riskpulse (rename) where I was the founder CEO for 10 years. I am now our Chief Strategist but the entrepreneurial bug remains and I am looking for more ways to connect with others in the early stages, to stay sharp and help however I can. Nice to meet you guys!
Hello!
I'm Alex.
I've worked at a couple small tech businesses, a mid-size company, and two startups (one I'm currently still working for).
Currently I'm also working on my own project, a website builder/host. I'd love to get some feedback on what I have so far. It's in a pre-alpha state right now. You can check it out at https://crafty.click/
Hi Everyone! I like creating content and optimizing, so I am a content/SEO person. I have built a nutrition site up to 2million uniques a month, would be happy to share what I learned. I am currently based in SF, but will be in Beijing from the middle of October to November if anyone is around and wants to meetup! :)
👋 Hello all! Long time lurker, first post!
🤖 My name is Diego from 📍Concepción, Chile 🇨🇱 and I’m 30. I learned how to code💻 by myself and developed my own blog (https://www.noincomedev.me) on top of React⚛️, Apollo🚀 and Material-UI. It’s very ugly but I made it to probe myself 🤷♂️ that I can ship software built with modern technologies. I consider myself as a maker. I haven’t any succees stories but I am always thinking about making new things. It took me a while to realize that what the most I like in life if to code!
Currently I am working on small side-project called Tablrz🎲 (https://www.tablrz.app). I like boardgames and within my group of friends we play a lot (A LOT!)of Settlers of Catan 🌋so I build this app to keep track of our game results! I am working to add a league manager so we can run our own Catan league!🏆
As my handle said I currently have no income📉💰 but I got my first client! I am working on a small appointment system for small phisyotherapist. This is not what I want. I would like to become a bootstraper or get hired for remote position. If you have any open position please tell me! I work with meteorjs, react, apoll and mongodb.
Before finish I would like to thanks all of you, because this amazing community keeps me motivated to follow my dream of becoming an #INDIEHACKER.
Regards,
Hey 👋🏻!
I'm Roland and I've been running my own software company for a year now. Mostly client work, but we also have our own projects. Previously I've been Lead at DeinDeal for almost 4 years and prior to that I launched a couple of games and apps on my own.
I'm a self-taught iOS developer, but I always tinker with other technologies. I'm constantly writing about my journey as a developer on my blog, from struggles I had, to tools I find useful.
Earlier this year, we've launched this year ChallengeBeat, an app for challenging yourself and/or your friends to either create new habits, lose old ones, or prove who's best at Mortal Kombat 😁.
Today we've launched Goalee, an app whose only purpose is to constantly remind yourself of your true goals in life. Each one of us gets lost in daily struggles, big and small; but in the grand scheme of things, most of them aren't worth losing focus over. So ... remind yourself often what your real goals in life are, so that you don't fall astray.
My most desired goal is to create products that improve people's lives. Well ... I guess I could extend that to improving people's lives, in general, since I also love mentoring and helping people when and in every way I can.
Hey there!
I'm Thiago, I've been listening to the podcast for a while and recently joined, but didn't have the opportunity to intro myself yet.
I'm a product/UX/UI/frontend dev and I build products that improves people's lives.
Right now I'm building Brutal, a feedback marketplace to help startups to receive qualitative video feedback so they can make confident product decisions.
Glad to be part of this community! 💪
Hey hackers! My name's Adriaan, I'm a full-time software developer at Input Logic (a software agency). I've just launched my first solo side-project called Learnly--an app for teachers to create and share assignments. My goal right now is to get enough customers to cover operating costs. The post-build stage of the product lifecycle is very unknown to me since I spend all of my time building apps. I'm really looking forward to experimenting with different tools and techniques to build a customer-base. It is way outside of my comfort-zone (if only "build it and they will come" were true)!
I'm thinking of starting a blog series called "From Zero" where I'll document the different things I do to promote Learnly, and how these things effect the number of customers. I'll be posting on medium
Cheers!
Hey,
You can call me Fady. I live in Germany.
I am an engineer by study and profession. However, I am trying to shift my career to be a developer. The idea of an indie hacker is very appealing and fits what I like to do, which is building cool different stuff, that solves problems.
I am really hoping that the community would help me get there. I just do not know where and how to ask for help.
At the moment, I am working on a couple of side hustles with Laravel framework. I am mostly doing Back-end development.
I really wish that IH would help me get out there and start working on cool projects and hacks. :)
Hi everyone, I'm Kadir and live in Turkey. I am a developer and I'm dealing with my own venture project recently.
Hi everyone 👋 I'm Tony From France 😊
I'm a ReactJS developer who worked for a large company 4 years. I have some notions of Webdesign, Machine Learning & Marketing. So i want to apply my skills to grow personal projects.
My goal is to win enough money with my projects to live with and work on projects i love.
My interests points are : Real Estate, Music (Latino & African) and Languages.
Just to tell, i play guitar, piano & I love to cook.
For now i just run a t-shirt shop & an Firefox Automation Extension for Instagram. My goal is to start a subscription service ( always seeking the idea ).
I'm really excited to join indiehackers 😊😊 It's been a long time i looking for a community like this !
Hello All, I haven't had a chance to lurk because I joined just a few mins ago!
I'm Vikas, based in NY, 20 yrs ent. infrastructure/ 18 years Cybersecurity (6 in defense sec ops), 12 in consulting (big4 & my own smb focused firm). In full transparency I stopped coding in HTML4! Please be nice I'm overwhelmed already!
A couple of years ago I started helping a large number of SaaS CTOs with vendor risk assessments/ compliance (hipaa/pci/soc2/iso/nist etc) to be able to sell B2B deals. One of my clients suggested I start a platform and that's how https://JustProtect.co was born.
JustProtect is a cybersecurity management platform that enables startup CTOs manage their entire cybersecurity program without spreadsheets or consultants and helps enterprises execute internal and vendor risk assessments with 75% efficiency.
We, my former CTO and I, started building in 05/17, launched mvp in 09/17 and got our first enterprise poc in 10/17. He and I then parted ways (happy to share story over drinks!). Since then I dug in rebuilt a team, got more clients, and we most recently got accepted to DreamIT (http://www.dreamit.com/securetech#about-securetech).
Today, I find myself running a local instance of the platform, looking at the DB and code, supporting clients, reworking UI/ UX and frantically getting ready for the floodgates to open.
A engineer i'm working with suggested I come here to see if i could pick up hints / tips to get feedback / increase traction as it's holding back certain investors and therefore my team. Till then it's me :)
All of this while trying to stay married and manage 2 kids under 3! If I can help any of you please don't hesitate to reach out.
Any feedback / hints / tips / best wishes are gratefully received!
Till soon Hackers :)
Hey everyone, I guess this is an old post but I'm new around here and figured id post and intro too.
My name is JP, currently i'm a Project Manager in Down Town Austin TX building high risers. My job is cool and fulfills my passions to an extent but tech just calls me. I have been studying tech companies, application and dabbling in Codding for the last 2 years and have been developing and app for the last 3 and a half years, some what on and off.
I'm really exited about joining the community and hope to make some connections and meet some great people in Austin and the rest of the world.
Hit me up if you are in the area and would like to grab some coffee or a drink, I'm also currently looking for Co-Founders and a team.
Hope to also be able to bring something to this community in the near future.
Awesome to be here,
JP
Hello there!
My name is Myles and I'm a front end developer. I like to experiment by breaking and making small applications.
I'm specifically interested in UI design/development. Although I don't have a UI designer/developer role at my current job. I'm studying, practicing, and working my way to get there.
I'm currently working on designing and developing an app that helps coders/designers collaborate on projects. There are a few apps out there (including indiehackers) but I want to narrow down the niche and focus on beginners who need a couple real-world type projects to add onto their portfolio. The open source world is such a neat place and I feel as though schools don't usually show that. You can think of it as a tinder for collaborating.
Besides coding, I love rock climbing and I'm an ultra runner who runs in sandals (not even joking haha).
Hi everyone👋 ,
Collette here, I’m a designer by heart and a newb hacker from Dallas, Texas. Right now I’m looking earnings as much as I can and figure if I out ways to execute it in the real world.
I Just started my first project https://thatsreallygood.co/finds.html which a newsletter featuring curated finds for makers and entrepreneurs.
And I’m just opened a studio so I’m excited rob join you all.
Hey all! My name is Mahmoud, and I can't believe I haven't heard of this website until yesterday!
I have an engineering background and have been coding for 15 years. I founded a price comparison startup in the MENA region for three years (2013-2016), we went through all bootstrap stages, a couple of fundraising rounds but then I failed. Then I joined the region's (MENA) first unicorn as a product manager and was spinning off some personal products in my part-time.
Yesterday, I was talking to a friend about a couple of ideas to work on and he told me about this site!
Hi all,
I'm Ryo, and I live in Oakland, CA. In college (class of 2012), I cofounded a MarTech SaaS company called TINT - www.tintup.com. Over 6 years, we grew TINT to 5M ARR and 37 people. We were fortunate enough to exit this year, to a company called Filestack. I've led an engineering team, a marketing team, and even an operations team, but at my core I'm a front-end developer with experience in growth marketing.
With the recent exit, I'm looking to join a new team of people interested in creating a SaaS business. Would love to share any knowledge I have with the community, and looking forward to meeting other hackers creating wonderful projects.
Hi @ryochiba - i'd love to tap your expertise.. take a look at my post / profile and feel free to drop me a line!
Hello guys,
I am Cheruiyot. An Engineer from Nairobi Kenya. Am really glad to be here where fellow tech enthusiasts, code gurus, nerds and jolly hackers interact and share great ideas together.
My mission here to learn and share with others. I am currently building two Apps; in Fintech and Social networking.
I hope that these two projects I am undertaking will one day show case the great potential that Africa has and also add value to each and every human's life in the planet.
One more thing, you are very welcome to visit my country Kenya, hit me up when around and I will be your safari tour guide.
Cheers!
Hey Indie Hackers, glad to join the community.
I love e-business and what there's behind.
I failed with a first project (not online anymore) and bootstrapped a couple of others in my former corporate jobs. Anyway, nothing aiming at becoming the next big thing.
Nowadays I share my thoughts about web financial design through my newborn site zioube.com.
Looking forward to learn as much as possibile from your experience!

Hello everybody,
my name is Hannes, originally from the north of Germany, but about to move to Brussels, Belgium next week. Until last year I worked as a project controller in a global project for an automotive supplier based in southern Germany. Through the project I also met my current bosses who were on the project management team.
Last year they started modelling a project management software which will be released for beta-stage soon. I am currently working on a marketing strategy to ramp up one of the pillars of CAMPR, the online business.
A friend of mine recommended to check out IH and I have been lurking around for a couple of weeks now. I am really glad about the insight you guy give into your work and I hope to be able to give back to this great community as well!
You’re welcome to check out what we will have to offer soon: www.campr.biz
Cheers!
Hello everyone!
I'm independent iOS developer from Latvia (that's in European Union btw).
I have experience in software product management in the payment industry. Recently dropped product management role in a corporate job to switch to the iOS development and have more time to build own products. Currently, I'm working as an independent iOS consultant for AntiLand.com and building own products.
Some kind of career path can be found on linked, feel free to connect: https://lv.linkedin.com/in/aivarsmeijers
Currently planning to grow one of my iOS apps from pizza money to profitable product or start a new one.

Outside of development, I'd like to spend time outdoors with my family and dog (Jack Russel Terrier).
Hey IndieHackers! I'm pretty new to the whole having an online presence but have heard great things about this community so here I am!
I'm Shaun and I'm a bit of a whirlwind story: born in South Africa, grew up in Dubai, went to University in New Zealand where I graduated as a Mechanical Engineer. Since then I've designed a self leveling system for washing machines (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=td0UIyaJcEI), did Intellectual Property strategy consulting for a bit followed by developing stretch sensors. If you've been following the Musk and Maezawa #dearmoon project, you'll know of the Zozo suit (https://zozo.com/nz/en). That's what I spent most of last year developing which was pretty exciting.
I've since taken the leap and started my own project to solve a problem I've had in the travel industry. I finally clicked the submit button to Y Combinator last night so fingers crossed I get into that... otherwise would love any advice you have for my first venture attempt! I am currently full time with 2 others who are very part time until we can get something decent up and off the ground.
Be safe y'all!
Hi IndieHackers!
My name is Vlad Khomutov and I am the founder of Fast Venture which offers unlimited UX and product support for startups and Propel Digital which is my consulting business.
I started as a self-taught UI designer in the mid 90's and made a transition to a pro :) when someone offered me $200 to design and code a 5-page static website.
Like most designers of that era, I was deeply influenced by Eric Jordan of the early 2 Advanced Studios and science fiction movies like Minority Report :)
Over the years I learned front end and backend development (LAMP), founded or co-founded several tech startups, built cool products for startups and large companies in North America, Europe, an Asia.
Presently, I am looking for early adopters to help me refine and grow Fast Venture.
I live in Toronto, Canada, train in Muay Thai, and have a 3yo daughter.
Stumbled upon this site via a random link on Reddit and immediately fell in love with the vibe.
Ask me anything (about UX / startups / entrepreneurship / tech products / e-commerce). I'm here to help.
Hey everyone...My name is Tobias and I live in Germany.
I have been participating since 2014 in various startups and since 2016 I am professionally freelancing (fullstack web & mobile development).
It was always my motivation and dream to build something on my own (=> bootstrapping). Now I have done the first step, cancelled my freelance contracts for the next 3 months and work on my project full time.
My main skills are located in IT, but I am also interested in all the other parts of launching a digital business, such as the business side, marketing and design.
If you want to follow my journey and read more about my learnings, you can also check out my post here on IH :)

Hello! I'm John and I live in Richmond, VA. I have been lurking for the past several months and have learned a lot, but wanted to take a few moments to make an introduction. I am a data scientist and web developer—I enjoy all things data-related along with building analytical applications.
I run a boutique data science company called Boxelder Analytics that offers full-spectrum data services including data engineering, development of machine learning models and deployment of these models as a service. We build recommender systems, predictive models and optimization systems where there is not an easy commercial off-the-shelf solution and it must be customized.
I am currently building a product called Hemlock that is an extension of these services and enables other data scientists and quants to deploy their Python & R models instantly via a REST API, manage access, and documentation. I'm really building this to solve a pain point that I have with my own company, but think it will solve a problem that other folks doing similar things have as well.
I am always trying to make myself a better technologist and business person, but strive to also lead a simple, balanced life spending time with my wife, dog and family hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains or somewhere around the water in Virginia Beach. I'd like to be more active on IH and want to help out where I can or continue to improve myself and my business through feedback.
If I can help in any way please connect with me on LinkedIn or send me an email.
hey guys,

Our rules are simples I will be working as solo maker mainly but I can request some hours each month from other departments.
I am eager to share our knowledge and progress with you guys.
Happy launching!

Hi everyone,
My name is Eoin. I’m founder of Tines (https://tines.io), a cyber security automation platform that allows security teams automate their manual, repetitive tasks. I started Tines earlier this year and launched towards the end of the summer. Learning a ton as I continue to fumble my way through this wild entrepreneurial journey.
Looking forward to joining this conversation!

Hello, I am Elavenil, from India. Born from a middle class family, i worked hard to creating my own firm now. Do not give up on your ideas. Be confident and learn from failures.
Hi All,
I am relatively new to IH as a non-technical founder. I have been working with a friend on an analytics and insights app for accounting software called www.glancemetrics.com, which has been fun and challenging.
I have found it very motivating reading through IH about everyone's side hustle and hope to be posting about my journey and successes soon.
Hello hackers!
I'm Jose! Since I was a kid I have always been surrounded by tech, so when I went to Uni I studied Computer Engine to work with the things that I love.
A few months ago I created a project with a couple of friends, it's started as a side project but now we're trying to convert it in a proper startup. The name was easy to choose, Vualala (https://www.indiehackers.com/product/vualala), we love our name, it's a mix between the French interjection "et voila" and the verb "volar" (fly in Spanish), so represents perfectly what we do.
Vualala tries to solve the problem of searching for trips with a particular budget. So, selecting the origin airport, the dates and your budget, vualala's algorithm will search the best combination of flights and hotels.
Hi everyone,
I create Traktomizer (https://traktomizer.com) which I started to help my recording artist friends try to gain an edge on platforms like Spotify.
An artist and producer myself, as well as a programmer, I know a lot of artists working in the new streaming economy and thought maybe I could help them, so I dedicated the past 4 years or so to doing that.
Recently I ported Traktomizer as a web app, which you're welcome to use for free at https://analyser.traktomizer.com and also created a batch audio analyser version for digital music library owners.
I made some more notes on my profile and I'm looking forward to learning, participating and sharing my knowledge with you all.
Thanks and see you around,
Steve
Hello everyone,
I'm def lurking much. I'm extremely curious to learn about all the magic moments, projects, and exciting things people are building out there! I am a beginner to my journey to becoming an indie hacker and I'm very happy to get started.
I currently help build communities at Meetup and also host the Community Builder Podcast. It's a podcast for community builders. We share stories, lessons, best practices, and tips from world class community builders.
Feel free to reach out as I work closely with all types of communities on a daily basis.
Keep Hacking,
Travis
Hi there!
I'm Miles from Stockholm, Sweden.
Started out building the company voxo.ai, a speech analytics platform used mostly by banks atm.
Currently building https://bookself.app, a social book recommendation platform 📚📚📚 It is basically a reading list which is shared with your followers. Simple as that.
I built it because book discovery is important (opportunity cost of reading a bad book = weeks or months) and personal book recommendations from trusted people is the best way of discovering great reading.
It is currently in open beta so try it out at bit.ly/bookself or bit.ly/bookselfandroid and let me know what you think :) @bookself
Hi 👋
I'm Daniel and I like to make stuff.
My background is in business, but over the past few years, I’ve learned how to hack things together and build simple web apps.
Great to join the community and happy to help out.
Hi, I'm Ibrahim, I am from Pakistan.. been lurking around for a long while after leaving my first startup, due to partnership crisis.. Started the job again as a Software Engineer, I am a Nodejs/Python Backend Engineer by profession. I needed enough courage and money to start something again here in Pakistan conditions are not much favorable for Entrepreneurs. I am into indie games these days just to make myself crawl out of the hesitation.
Hello! 👋
I've been lurking for maybe a month now, and decided to join the community.
My name is Maxwell. 🙇♂️
I live in San Jose, CA, and have enjoyed a career change from Auditor for a public account firm, to software engineer. I currently work for PayPal, here in San Jose, and have been loving it for a little over a year now.
I recently starting thinking about starting my own business, and the more I think about it, the more excited I get. 😁
I actually haven't built anything yet, 😅 and am at a bit of a loss for ideas, and how to actually know if an idea is viable before writing any code. But, I am anxious to build, and ready to get my hands dirty while trying to get a business off the ground.
Hi all! I'm Tony. Been lurker for awhile and it's cool to see this site as well as the project grow over the last couple years.
I'm currently in New York and over the course of the last few months, built a full fledge unified crypto trading platform call Quadency (www.quadency.com for those interested). Quadency allows one to view and trade all their crypto coins from one place.
By trade, I'm a full-stack engineer with a decade of experience. This was a really cool thing to build from ground up. A lot of interesting challenges that we've overcame in all aspects of software engineering, front-end, backend, infrastructure, database, you name it.
If you guys have any technical question or any questions about the platform, holler!

Hi I'm Ceora. I just created my account yesterday (I think). I'm relatively new to coding/tech. But I'm currently part of a small start-up called Frauvis which is a platform for black women in or interested in tech. I am trying to get more involved in the tech community so this is one of the ways that I'm doing that😊
Hello I started a technology company about a year ago. I provide website, hosting, design, and maintenance. I am also studying machine and deep learning and hoping to leverage that technology in some type of service or solution. My full time job is a HPC support. engineer. I am just looking to network with like minded people who have or eventually want to have their own self sustaining company
Hi there, I've been lurking these forums for god knows how long now so I figured I'd introduce myself.
I'm Bryan from Amsterdam, Netherlands and I started doing side projects since about two years ago. My initial focus was to improve my own learning process by making tools that assist the learning process. This has totally got out of hand and now I am still here making these tools!
My latest project is TopicTrails (https://topictrails.com/), a tool to annotate and reuse these annotations in your own documents by referencing or embedding them.
👋G'day all,
I'm Rob and I live in Queensland Australia.
Have only just discovered Indie Hackers, and am thinking this is one of those "I can't believe I didn't know this existed" moments. :D
I've a background in Marketing and Web design/dev, and have been working with a large WordPress agency (XWP) for the last few years.
Currently working on a WordPress plugin with a couple of colleagues that sets out to make it significantly easier for WordPress devs to build custom Gutenberg (new WP editor) blocks. Plugin is called Block Lab.
We're a couple weeks away yet from a stable version, but enjoying digging into what represents a big UX change for the webs most popular CMS.
Outside of my work, put a football at my feet and give me a day playing with my kids and I'm a happy man. :)
I'm Josh, from Minneapolis. I like to think of myself as an entrepreneur first that just happens to code well enough to get by. I dropped out from college three times and have no more than a couple weeks of college credit to my name. Sorry mom :(
I started building web things when I was 9. I was wondering why my form didn't post (I didn't have a back-end). I'd like to think I've come a long way!
I've exited a few times from the hosting industry with companies you've probably never heard of for amounts that are laughable by today's standards. Since then I've bounced around doing this and that.
During the day I consult with startups and entrepreneurs who are looking to build something. From time to time I'll hook up with BigCorp and help them understand why they're having so many fraudulent transactions and help them identify such transactions.
During the evenings I build my little projects that solve personal pain-points.
I'm here because I'm frankly terrified of making a public push for my latest project. I thought this would be a good first baby step.
I love to talk shop, and eat food, and I always enjoy a good tequila. :) If you want to do one, or all three, you know where to find me. :)
Hi there, I'm Tim, from Cologne (Germany).
I co-rounded and helped run a few companies, most notably Sedo.com (a domain market place) and Eyeo.com (the company behind AdblockPlus.org).
These days, I am also quite interested in SaaS projects, and together with my friend Ulrich, I set up http://SaaS.group. With that group, we are acquiring revenue-making, ideally profitable, lean SaaS start ups. Should be at least a few $100K in revenue per year. So if you have a SaaS project which you got bored about, and which fits those criteria, please let me know.
Oh, and you can find more about me at Schumacher.me
Hi Hackers!
I'm Martijn, from the Netherlands but live in Kiev. Moved to Kiev about 2,5 years ago to be closer to the guys who are working on Historysearch.com with me.
My goal is to turn History Search into a filesystem for the web. What History Search does for you is make it super easy to retrieve any webpage you've been using any words you remember on it. This makes it super easy to find back articles or gmails (is that even a thing? 😅), open documents or quickly navigate web services.
How it works is, History Search uses browser extensions to index the text on webpages when you visit them. This way any word you remember will be enough retrieve it for you. So its both technically and literally an index (you know that page in the back of those dusty encyclopaedias).
History Search is a product I'm very passionate about, and have spent the past 3,5 years working on. For any interested the full story on there: medium.com/swlh/moments-before-success-or-failure-d0f50ff148ea
Finally something recent I'm very proud of after so many years of hard, is our public launch on producthunt.com/posts/history-search yesterday, where we were accepted with open arms and got over 700 upvotes 😻.
Try out History Search yourself and let me know what you think,
Looking forward to hear from you,
Martijn
Hello, I'm Mark, from the UK (near Brighton, an hour from London).
I'm working full-time but want to start my own gig and want to be my own boss so that I can spend more time with my family (wife and 2 boys of 8 and 5 years old).
I've not coded for a long-time and moved more into the Product Management so feeling fairly comfortable talking to customers and doing the sales/marketing stuff. My intention is to co-create with a developer I work with as he desires an exit from corporate life as well.
My wife and I also have a Vacation Rentals (Airbnb) business and there are a number of pains in this space that I'd like to solve.
I'm just starting out on my journey so listening intently to all the podcasts from episode #1.
Hopefully I will get to connect with many of you in the forum.
Thanks, Mark
Hello, I'm Jesse and new to this site.
I am a registered nurse and am starting paintingmemories.com with my wife. We sell custom oil paintings from photos. We've found many of the posts on this site helpful and look forward to being a part of this community.
Hi, I am Kshitij Doval, Founder of a Social Networking & Learning app called Unhu.
I figured that social apps like facebook, twitter, instagram, snapchat etc. eat up a lot of precious time (6hrs everyday precisely as per a survey I conducted on 500 youngsters). Therefore, I created this app, so that people could share whatever they read or watch from anywhere into this app, tag a badge & get other people's opinions on it.
This would create a peer-to-peer learning community as it solves a major problem of many people who get bored of interacting with content. Instead of people, here people interact with other people sharing content. This small change makes a lot of difference and brings in interest in people to learn something new.
I request the community to please check out my app from Google Play Store and give me your honest feedbacks. Here is the download link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.unhu.unhu&hl=en_IN
Hello everyone! Recently joined, but lurked for a while.
I'm Scott, I live in Burlington Connecticut and work as a software engineer in the grain industry working with automation (I know, the location and field don't match too well).
Currently I am building a product to produce custom, physical calendars. Right now I am approaching the point of building out the website and purchasing the prints and binders to start selling them. Along with this, I have 2 - 3 other products in the backlog that I am just beginning to refine before I begin engineering them.
Along with programming, on the side I enjoy hand tool woodworking and volunteering as much time as I can at my synagogue.
Hi all!
Until about 30 minutes ago I had never heard the term Indie Hacker. But when I found out what a IH is, I had to come and join. I have already started down my path to becoming financially independent, and now know there are others like me out there. :)
Looking forward to you e-meeting you all.
Hey guys! My name is Petar Vukasinovic. I am a software developer and founder of cannabis software agency https://codekeef.com/. I help cannabis companies create web and mobile apps. While cannabis is still illegal in most of the countries, it is becoming mainstream in North America and is catching up in other countries as well. Cheers! :)
Hi all,
My name is Rodrigo, I'm Portuguese and currently living in Dubai 🐪. I work as a User Experience Designer and I also like to build stuff by coding.
I have been working on a startup that allowed me to start exploring different areas of specialty and also learning more about business and marketing.
I'm getting tired of living in Dubai so I started to look into creating something on my own, even if that means just opening a coffee shop.
I'm here lurking not to find ideas but to get the energy and the "Do it" energy that sometimes lacks me.
Hello, I found this site and joined immediately. This is the exact kind of community I was looking for but didn't know it. Topics like this on sites like Reddit can get toxic, discussion on here seems to be much more productive.
I'm an operations manager by profession and completed my MBA a few years back. But I have always been very technical and in the past 18 months have gotten serious and learned some programming languages and started to develop. Looking to transition from management to technical entrepreneur, leveraging my business experience as much as possible. So far I've had one profitable venture, but it ended up scaling poorly.
Greetings,
I should be working on my site, but instead I'm signing up for sites I probably don't need so I don't feel my adderall was wasted. Hello, name is Viet and I have a vulnerability that's exploited by the host(me).
I was never really interested in programming, I loved doing things differently. Started my first hustle in 6th grade selling rectangular lollipops (in the blowpop days) thinking product differentiation would give me the edge , which it did. Bought packs of 15 pops at the dollar store and sold them for a dollar each. Brought on my two buddies and gave them commission of every 5 you sell you'd earn $1. I moved and sold the business to Jerry(sorry bud) for 20 bucks...all I did was tell them "Dollar store."
I then sold gameboy accessories on ebay and purchasing alibaba. Moved on to fake Lacoste which earned me a C&D Highschool---Ill leave this part out. In college, I tried selling my 3rd year salary on eBay which went viral on the "weird ebay listing" circuit. Interned at Smith Barney, where I was let go because my dad died twice(I just forgot i used that excuse two weeks prior)
To keep it short: Bought towing sold towing company at same price
Used funds to buy new TLDs coming out ".co" Was given lesson on cybersquatting. Finally, first successful venture: around 2 mill rev in 10 months - issues with FBI then immunity letter. Bought BTC at around 700-1200 . Then became a cook to a chef to living on a farm. Helped friend start amazon FBA then went to NY to continue cooking.
I left out 3 biz failures and 2 startups that I never launched. Wow, I am 93 minutes behind schedule for today. Sorry, you wont get those 3 minutes back from my rambling.
Hello, I'm Mohamed, I live in Cairo, Egypt. I'm a full stack web developer.
I hope I can learn from you so I can build a successful startup.
Hello, I'm Yug and I am the creator of instamato.com an Instagram automation tool for marketers and Instagram content creation.
Started a month ago and is helping more than 80 Instagram content creators with their Instagram automation requirements.
Feedback would be very much appreciated.
Hey gang,
I'm Adam, from the U.K. 🇬🇧
I run a B2B drinks delivery company - deskbeers.com
DeskBeers started as a side project at the now defunct (but fondly remembered) agency Mint Digital - mintdigital.com - back in 2013.
In 2015 we raised a seed round of funding (circa £120k from ~180 investors) via a website called CrowdCube - crowdcube.com/investment/deskbeers-17148
Since then we've been full-steam ahead as a standalone company. It's been a wild ride.
We've recently developed a draught (draft, if you're so inclined) beer service specifically designed for offices. It's called KegHop and you can find out more about that here: keghop.deskbeers.com
KegHop has been launched in a real MVP way, listening to customer feedback every step of the way. As such, it's not yet been integrated into the DB "platform". This is my next focus, along with growing the regular business.
The current challenges are:
Getting KegHop onto the regular platform
Adding further products such as soft drinks to the platform
Increasing sales through cold-outreach emails
Improving our top-of-funnel acquisition and really refining the whole acquisition process.
Happy to chat about any and all of the above, craft beer, or anything else you think I might be able to help with. Super-keen to hear any questions or feedback around DB/KH.
deskbeers.com is a Ruby on Rails site that basically runs the whole show - happy to chat about that stuff as well if anyone is interested.
Thanks for having me!
Cheers 🍻
Hello, I'm Naveen. I am Lead Engineer at Skcript. I started my career as a "Backend Engineer - Trainee" and been working hard since Jan 2016 to learn, understand and build better products to solve the crucial problems.
Currently, I am heading the operations of hellonext.co, a product of Skcript and we launched it on product hunt a week back.
You can find it on https://www.producthunt.com/posts/hellonext
hellonext focuses on building the right features for your products by managing and analyzing your user's feedback. Also letting you build trust with your users by letting them know about the status of the feedback and requests.
We released the platform with some core functionalities. It's not yet mobile responsive. But the team is working on releasing version 2.0 in the coming week. As, we are working on patching up some rough edges, it is on Beta and free for trial. I would love to hear some suggestions on improving the platform better.
You all can submit the feedbacks either in https://hellonext.co/feedback or just put here and I would take it and use it to improve ;)
Thanks, all.
Hello everybody
My name is Christophe and I live in Antwerp, Belgium.
I have a fulltime job as software consultant/developer at a consulting firm. I'm a full stack developer. Currently my focus is Javascript (Node.js and React). I develop web, mobile and desktop applications for all sorts of enterprises.
Recently I started playing with the idea to start a side project that could grow into a business. During my online search I came across Indie Hackers and since then have been visiting daily. Reading and listening to podcasts (I have some catching up to do).
I have no concrete ideas yet. So at the moment I will be operating mostly in lurking mode 😀 But I hope this will change in the near future.
Hi all, I'm Gary, co-founder of www.FUTT.co.uk - a sock subscription company with a difference 🧦
So how are we different?
Quality - we're focused on creating a long-lasting high quality sock. Our socks are manufactured in Italy and finished by hand for superior comfort. 💯
Designs - we work with different designers each month to create unique designs unable to be found anywhere else. To date we've worked with architects, set designers and graphic design students. ✏️
Charity - we donate 5% from each pair of socks sold to War Child UK to help children around the world. To put that into context, for every 200 subscriptions we sell, we can put a vulnerable child through school for a year. 🌍
We've recently launched so we'd appreciate any feedback (and of course if you want awesome socks feel free to subscribe at www.futt.co.uk). 👍🧦
Hey there!
I'm Ali and I currently live in Tokyo, Japan. I fly often to SF to meet with clients and friends from my alumni. I graduated with a BFA in Photography from AAU university. During my studies there I struggled as a photographer to find people to work with as I had just moved to a new city (SF) I didn't know many people who were comfortable to being photographed for my portfolio. After l looked at my options online to find other similar people to network with I realized the current solutions on the market lack credibility and have a bad reputation with regards to safety & professionalism. So during my final semester during the summer I took a flight to New Delhi to find a Development company to help me build this platform. After realizing its better if I do it my self than pay a large sum of money to a dev company. I had a friend who lived in Nepal who went to high school with me. I contacted him and I was on the next flight to Nepal.
I ended up living in Nepal for 8 months opening a small office and hiring developers, shortly onboarding our CTO who lived in Paris to join our team. Lots of ups and downs during this progress we managed to get 100k in funding to help us grow our venture.
Finally after 1 year and half of hard work we completed and ready to launch our product (iOS only).
Check it out at https://www.artup.io and request for beta access. & let me know your feedback!
Thanks!
Ali

Hi Indie Hackers, new guy here :) My name is Henry and I work as a Web Developer for a Software company serving the Insurance industry. I also side hustle doing freelance work and personal projects like small apps (e.i musiczen and filemover). I am here to network, meet and hopefully collaborate with other tech minded and aspiring entrepreneurs.
Hello everyone,
I am Jeremy Lana. I am travel blogger and part of a new start-up called Trip Planner Master.
I am here to contribute, share and learn.
Hey Indie Hackers,
This is Sachin, based out of India. I graduated with a CS degree roughly 6 years ago and joined an MNC. I always wanted to build something of my own from my college days. I used to hate web development in my college days but had to do some in my professional path. I am glad that I learned web dev (full stack) and BigData stuff because it gave me an opportunity and confidence to start building products from scratch.
I have been doing side projects for 6 years that is when I started my career. I have recently left my full-time job to convert one of my side projects, Requestly (~72K users) into a full-fledged product.
I am joining Indie Hackers to give advice on how to run side projects and seek advice on my new assignment as mentioned above. I will soon submit a new post for seeking advice and feedback on http://www.requestly.in/.
Hi Everyone -
I'm Askar (pronounced as Oscar), an indie-hacker for a while now. I live in the beautiful Central PA. Techie all along, with an eye for design (I've been told it's a rare combo!). I've been a podcast addict for a decade now I think and never missed an episode of @csallen's crisp clear voice :) I love to consume a ton of tech and startup juice and that keeps me healthy :)
I've tipped my toes into the startup pond a few times with some reasonable success, and more recently with my OneMasjid product. It's tailored towards a niche community, happened to be in the billions worldwide! Conceived and developed this entire product line all by myself without any ounce of help from anyone else (I'm super proud of what I've produced single-handedly! boasting was not my intent here). I'm proud of the quality and the way it solves the problem. The struggle (for any techie, FTM) is to get this out to the millions who may benefit out of this hard work and turn this into a living. I'm doing my best to push but it's harder and harder for sure...giving up is not an option.
Nice to meet you all here. Keep up the great work @csallen
Hi, I am new and I am excited to be a part of this community.
Hello everyone, what an exciting community! It's neat to read so many of your stories, I am wishing you all the best of luck! I feel like I've been looking for this site a loooong time ha.
My name is Tim, I live in Jonesboro, AR, not much of a tech scene out here. I have recently gone part-time (with my wife's blessing) so that I can work on a project that has become very meaningful to me. Professionally, I am a full-stack engineer with development experience across many disciplines, including bio-tech, gaming, geo-spatial, and business. Been at it for over a decade now.
I have begun work on a social gaming platform that I wish existed but doesn't and I am really excited about that! The one-liner pitch is basically that it's Lost (as in the TV show) meets the Amazing Race (the other TV show). You commit (as in long-term) to join a group of 10 strangers from all over the world, then you get to know them through chat and competing with them against other groups in a variety of team competition style games. I'm calling it TenSouls.
I am looking for one or more people who might be interested in joining as technical co-founders. It's a going to be a lot of work (I mean what doesn't take a lot of work these days) and plus I like working with a team.
If your bored and talented, and looking for something adventurous, hit me up!
Best,
-T
I am am a Full Stack Web Developer based in Chicago, IL. I have been developing web based applications for 5 years. I've worked with small companies as well as big corporations and even the United States Air Force. I spend a lot of time writing front end code and backend code. I currently run https://dashlyapp.io full time and i came to indie hackers to get advice for running a start up. Happy Hacking!
Hi, I'm Tim. 👋
I'm a software engineer living in Somerville, MA. I'm currently working on www.wrkflows.io, building a platform to help provide help docs to in-app users.
Wrkflows is just my side project, I work full time as the CTO for Tablelist, as Boston based startup that provides VIP access to nightclubs and bars. Juggling a side project and full time job can be tricky at times, but I've also found a lot of the things I've built have carried over between projects.
I am Alicia, from Emaww.com in Montreal and happy to be here. I am looking to connect with developers who are interested in in-app insight, human computer interaction or emotional awareness.
Hiya, I am a UK-based solo entrepreneur. I started out with a niche website that is offering me a good monthly salary but I currently focus on a bootstrapped self-service SaaS product - topicseed - to help content publishers grow their topical SEO using natural language processing.
Thought I would lurk around here every now and then :)
Regards to all!

Hello IH!
I'm Omar, and I live in Germany.
I've had a knack for programming since I played with BASIC at 6 and put my first website online when I was 9 (it's still online :D)
After working as a software engineer for a few years, I founded in 2010 a little indie software agency that shipped a couple of SaaS products at the time, but unfortunately didn't last long due to a mixture of bad execution, lack of funding and the unexpected complexity of the targeted markets.
I'm currently a product owner in the Enterprise Automation space, and I have accumulated a hefty amount of side projects related to automation and process management, all of them used internally, either to drive my personal needs for automation, or at my workplace to assist fellow co-workers.
I would like to release something to the real world, and I am currently working on getting the first one ready, hopefully to be soft launched in the upcoming days.
I joined Indie Hackers to meet and exchange ideas with similar minded people, and to absorb by osmosis some of the amazing amount of knowledge, experience and wisdom this community has, and potentially to contribute back with my own modest experience.
Hope to see you soon in a release article!
Howdy, I'm Lyman from Alabama.
I've been a full time digital marketer for over 9 years. Before this I was in the Marines and I've taught myself everything I know now by building my own projects.
I currently run my website https://chirpcircle.com, where I reverse engineer marketing strategies and share a bunch of other cool marketing info.
I now work with startups up to billion dollar companies as a consultant. I primarily specialize in marketing automation.
I know how to write HTML, CSS, and some Javascript. That's the gist of my coding chops. I know enough to run the marketing campaigns I engineer.
When I'm not working, I'm in my wood shop building furniture, traveling to the Mountains or hanging with my family.
Hi there, I've been lurking on IH for well over a year now. The insights from other founders are very inspirational, especially the ones working on Saas businesses.
I'm Lucas from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Part of the team that is running https://www.Informizely.com a simple yet advanced survey solution. The majority of our customers use us for the pop-up surveys we offer. Everything is self-funded and coded in-house.
The majority of our current customer base found us through organic channels. This year we decided to start investing in inbound marketing and sales outreach heavily.
Salut :)
I'm Laurentiu, a backend engineer from Romania with aspirations of becoming an indie hacker. I think I'm a veteran at lurking, since 2016... :O
On the road of becoming an indie hacker I'm now stepping out of my comfort zone (building stuff) and start to practice the marketing/sales part and, on that note, I want to thank you all for your contributions to IndieHackers!
I am Joe Engressia, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) - Delivered By Leading Experts.

Hi Folks, I'm Tim. I live in Montreal.
I'm a freelance developer and also run a couple shopify stores in the natural pet supplement space.
I'm here because I want to put my dev skills to good use and meet a potential co-founder to work on a side project together, ideally someone with domain experience in their field who needs a technical arm.
I'm always up for a chat, Hit me up on linkedin!- https://www.linkedin.com/in/timlmcnamara/
Hello,
I was lurking for a while without interacting. I would like to change that so here I am for my introduction.
I'm Guillaume a full-stack developer based in Nice (south of France).
Currently I'm working in a private banking software editor based in Monaco.
In parallel with my full-time work, I'm doing some part-time freelance for Angular applications (planned to go full-time soon).
At this time, I'm launching Volrod. It's an application that help e-commerce owners to save time during their order preparations (future post coming).
I love the mood of this forum and look forward to sharing with the community !
Hey, just signed up.
I'm a lawyer by trade and still do that full time.
About 7 years ago I built Leavetrack (https://leavetrackapp.com/) a B2B app for managing holidays, sick leave etc. Never really grew but provides some spending money.
I'm currently working on ContractSUMMIT (https://www.contractsummit.com) which will help freelancers do their contracts, invoicing etc. Forcing myself to remember to be embarrassed by v1 and aiming to ship something in the next couple of months.
Balance my time between the day job, hacking in the evenings and my wife, Jaye, and kids, Hari & Jaik.
Hello Everyone,
I joined Indie Hackers today only and I got this "Introduction Post" a little bit early without lurking much.
Thanks, @channingallen for this opportunity.
So here I am!!
I am Sarah, Frankly saying I am working as Product Growth Specialist with one SaaS startup based in San Francisco named as 'LambdaTest'. I have been researching in Software Testing domain since long before joining LambdaTest.
No majors steps have been taken in the Testing industry for a long time after Selenium. Nowadays, Testing professionals need to hop to different platforms to fulfill their testing needs. I met Asad, one of Co-founder at LambdaTest, in one startup meetup in the Bay Area and he was also brewing something related to Software Testing in his mind. We had a long discussion and we concluded to build a complete ecosystem for testing professionals.
And we came up with lambdatest.com last year.
Looking for your guidelines, feedback and any challenges you have faced as a developer, tester or manager in testing domain!!
Hello all, shafi here from Bengaluru India. I am handling graphics designing at plivo.com. Happy to be here!
Hey! I am Malte Scholz, co-founder of airfocus.io – a product management application built specifically to help managers prioritize and create visual roadmaps.
I worked as a product manager at multiple tech companies until I realised that there is a big need for good products to help managers prioritize, create roadmaps and take the burden of decision making away from gut-based decisions and messy spreadsheets.
So I decided to create an application that does these things with an objective scoring system and a simple to use interface. That’s how the idea for airfocus began.
It’s been a little over 12 months since I started out on this journey and we are already a small but power-packed team of 5 people working towards bettering our product and reaching out to more people.
airfocus recently got listed on Trello as a Power-Up and we are really excited to be able to provide users with more opportunities to sync airfocus with platforms they already use and love.
As an endnote, I’d like to invite all the lovely people on this forum to check out airfocus.io (14 days free trial) and give us valuable feedback about how you think the product is and if you have any suggestions to make the product better. We are all ears to your feedback! :)
Hi everyone!
I'm Ronald from Malaysia. I am a software engineer working full stack development in a financial company. But now I am trying to learn and build mobile apps and PWA using Ionic 4.
So far i have only managed to build a simple fan app bgkfans.com for a basketball team.
I hope this year I can deliver more full featured apps that can be downloaded in the App stores. :)
Hi, I'm Shawn. I've been lurking around here for a few months now. This site and the people here have given me some great tips and insight on how everyone goes about their hacking :) Much appreciated.
Anyway I'm just a hacker just like most of you. Working one crazy ideas that pop into my head. I just released https://vidlive.co after some months of development. Any feedback would be great. Thanks!
Hi my name is Bruce
I have just quit working in London to go back to my hometown Glasgow in Scotland.
I am a Java fullstack developer who is looking for remote jobs.
Also starting to work on some of my own projects that I will share once they are ready.
Also keen to pick Java developer's brains :)
Hello everybody! I'm a Spanish game designer and entrepreneur (I'm Spanish so my English isn't perfect, I'm sorry for all the mistakes I'll make!).
I quit my job two years ago. Since then I've been working on disruptive projects for some companies (American Express, some Spanish retailers...) mixing business software with game elements. But I've been working on a saas product as a side project. The launching will be soon! So I've decided to be more active in communities like Indie Hackers to keep learning :)
hello Everyone,
i am Zsolt from Hungary. I live now in Germany. I studied economics and a few weeks ago i discovered web dev and started to learn it on udemy. i am very new in IT but for me it seems it is much interesting then finance. I discovered indie hackers on the online course wich i attend. I read a lot of articles and decided to register because here is so much to learn. My goal for the future is to learn web dev and later start an online business.
So i am on my start of my new working life, i hope that after a while i can contribute to the community when i learned a lot.
Hi all, I'm Bennett - a designer turned developer living in Milwaukee, WI. I graduated with a degree in Graphic Design in 2015 but have always had an interest in learning to create things with code, and want to create products that help others.
I started out my career as a graphic web designer, learned to hack some code together while there.
Now, I am working as a frontend developer where I have learned most of my frontend skills, including: VCS, Sass, Webpack, Gulp, NPM, JS, Terminal/Bash, JS Frameworks, Highcharts, some Java, etc. I get to work with some large clients in the agency world, but I have also had experience with small to startup-size clients. I have been married for over two years now, and have a black lab/pointer puppy, and two piranhas in a 120 gal tank.
I've had an idea for at least 7 years (among other smaller side projects) that I want to launch within the next year, and thought this community is the perfect place to gain knowledge and insight on how to do it successfully!
As a newbie to this community, the idea I have combines a large amount of data, and is quite complex in nature, and I do not have all the knowledge I need to to undertake it fully, but am willing to learn.
Would it be best to first complete one of my smaller side project ideas, and then tackle the big one?
Or, is there any different advice on what approach I should take to tackle this large project idea?
Hi everyone,
Excited to join the community. My name is Alex and I was introduced to indiehackers through one of my co-founders. Up until last week I was a product manager at an AI company called GumGum. I've since quit my job to work on a cryptocurrency app (https://emberfund.io/) full time with 3 amazing developers. We're trying to build the S&P 500 of crypto and just got apple store approval :)
Outside of work stuff, I love to surf and cook. I also really enjoy chatting it up about crypto, startups, product management and tech. Feel free to reach out!

Hey everyone!
My name is Alex! I work for a company on the East Coast of Canada called REDspace (www.redspace.com). My primary focus is front-end video experiences but I've worked on many different projects over the years ranging from legacy WordPress sites to React Native apps.

I'm formerly a teacher so I get pretty excited about talking to and sharing things with everyone in this awesome and active community!
Hello peeps! I'm Taran. I stumbled upon this website when I was looking for advice for a startup I have been working on. After browsing through a couple of threads, I couldn't help myself but join.
In the short time I have been here, I have learnt loads. This is, without a doubt, the best community for aspiring entrepreneurs to hang out. I can't thank the community enough for everything that I have learnt. I hope to learn more with the help and guidance of others. And, of course, I shall contribute wherever I can. Thanks for having me! 😄

In my day job, I head the marketing for a popular Indian media platform inc42.com but on the side, I'm building my blog www.pallav.io turning it into a marketing resource for solo founders and small businesses.
I also host a Live video show interviewing some of the most successful business leaders of India to extract their wisdom in less than 60 minutes. Latest episodes available here - http://www.pallav.io/videos/

Hi,
I am Nerijus from Lithuania. I am developing project https://cheetaho.com (image optimization tool) This project for me is a tool to learn a lot in how to get it success, how to support product. I registered here because I wanted to show you CheetahO and ask the help to test it and review. Maybe you will have some suggestions how to make the product more attractive to others.

Hey everyone. I am Sankalp. 👋
[A little background 👉] I live in Bangalore, India. I was always interested in design but got into university to study Automotive Engineering. Just after 1 year of college, I got several backlogs and realized this is not something I wanted to do and will fail miserably even if I continue. But I didn't drop out as my tuition fee was on a bank loan. So, I spent learning 3D, Graphics and UI design for the remaining 3 years of my college so I can have a design portfolio when my college ends and I get a job in the design industry.
Thankfully, a couple of my 3D design projects was picked up by national and international media and that gave me a good start into the design industry as those media coverages added up to my reputation. (One of the most famous was: http://sankalpsinha.com/projects/singnshock.html
[Currently 👉] It's been 4+ years since I got into the design industry and have primarily moved towards Digital Product Design space. Currently, I am working with a US origin remote company as a Senior Product Designer and also working on a couple of my projects on the side. Two of them are http://getrooster.in and http://yesscss.com/ (Any feedback on these from the community would be really appreciated)
Outside of tech, I spend most of my time clicking pictures & posting on my Instagram (@sankalpdomore), playing football and engaging in the Design community here in India.
Glad to be a part of this community :)
Hey all,
I'm a programmer working and living in London. In my free time I try to hack around a side project and learn some new technologies. I've built a dental clinic web app that I never launched officially but is used in a couple of clinics for 3 years now. It has tons of features but I have no idea how to safely bring it to market having no experience in marketing or legal matters.
I'm currently building a crypto trading game where the people who predict the best earn parts of the profit, and the lowest performers will get kicked out, Its already 90% finished, but I'm kind of missing motivation to wrap up the last 10%.
I've built various projects to the 90% mark (the dental app was the only one successfully finished) and then lose interest. So I'm trying to find motivation and guidance how to release a product, and this community looks like a great starting point.
Cheers,
Pax
Hey everyone.
I'm Niall. A software developer and founder in London England. I have worked on lots of awesome projects and from a couple of them came the idea for http://apollochat.co.uk. Hi All!
My name is Daniel. I am the founder and developer of a health tech company called https://zenpatient.com We focus on behavior based messaging and treatment compliance. The project was inspired by my wife's experience as a cancer patient and as a medical doctor. I previously started a company called https://vonjour.com. I live in Los Angeles with my wife.
Hi there,
I am almost 34, currently the head of a client team in a French company that builds a software. I am a huge fan of web design and web development, former project manager with some experience in coding.
Willing to earn my freedom and starting to get bored after 7 years, I started an e-commerce journey almost a year ago and shut down the store last week.
I will leave my job at the end of the year as agreed with my boss.
I am not sure, today what I will do next. I love e-commerce, the tech (building the store, setting everything in place) and analytics (KPI's, Facebook Ads, Google Analytics -I need to learn more on the topic-) sides especially, but I don't have a product to sell and it seems that I am not good at finding products or what people want and how to improve them.
I could also start a consulting journey on a specific topic of e-commerce or software/web/app development or be involved in a big project.
In short, my future is still not defined but I am open to anything as long as I can help people and make a difference in any way possible.
I still have to find out what is Indie Hackers :).
Hi there, I'm a freshman here. And I'm Chinese.

I hope I can have a my own business, design a product that everyone enjoy. But I know, there is a long way to go : )
I know this site by accident and I find this is a surprising product and tech related community. So I hope I can find more interesting and inspiring things there!
(well, Im not so good at English, so it is thankful that you can correct my mistakes!)

I've started many projects and surprise surprise they've all failed due to no product validation. Build it and they will not come. There's nothing more depressing than creating something, eagerly launching and seeing no results.
The past few months I've been creating Merrier (https://merrier.apptaste.co/) -- an app that helps people overcome stress and anxiety by turning therapy into a game. It was born out of feedback that existing mental health apps are too "sad" or not actionable enough. Would love some feedback if any of you want to check it out: https://apple.co/2Mn8CBb
Along with nurturing Merrier I'm validating more products and learning marketing, because as a dev that's my weakest point.
See you all around :)
Hi everyone, I'm Lenny. I just found growth hackers and I already think it's an awesome community.
I'm currently a content writer for B2B SaaS companies, but I really want to learn more about digital marketing and entrepreneurship. I'm really excited to be here.
Hi,
Long time lurker. I think I am ready to create instead of dreaming.
For last 2 years, I thought I was working on my side projects but it was really playing with new technologies and learning.
Finally, I realize that I need to use what I know the best to create business. There is already so much to learn when starting a business why also add learning new technology to the list.
So PHP/Laravel is for me. There will be some learning Vue as jQuery might not cut it anymore. And it is not learning a whole new language like go or swift.
Happy Tuesday!
Hi all! I am Brandon. I just discovered Indie Hackers and have really enjoyed reading about others' journeys. I am based in Cambridge, UK and also someone who couldn't stop tinkering with ideas ;)
I left a corporate job in 2010 to start a game studio (I really like making games...), ended up making games for clients (mostly family-friendly brands).
The first and a half year was tough as I had to learn how to do everything from scratch. Learning to code was one of the hardest part of it. I was self-funding and fortunately I had written a book before I left my full-time job and it helped fund living expenses during this learning period.
In the years since, I've gotten involved in a couple of startups outside of my company, built various things (games, books, apps, platforms...etc.), and dabbled in mentoring/workshops (which I've really enjoyed and have been thinking about doing more).
Just wanted to say hi to the community. I'd love to know if anyone else is also in the area - would love to have an Indie Hackers meetup here in Cambridge (UK)! (I used to run a game developer community meetup in Seattle and loved it!)
Hey, I've been lurking forever and finally decided to make an account. I've worked as a freelancer and now as a full time engineer at amazon. I'm looking for people to work on side projects with in Seattle if anyone is interested!
Hi, I'm Bill Stephenson,
I live in the Ozark Mountains not far from Branson, Missouri. I develop web apps for small-medium size businesses. I released my first web app, ezInvoice.com, back in 2002.
There's not a lot of tech development going on here, so it's really nice to find a place to learn and share like this. I only ran across "Hacker New" a couple years ago, about the time I started on the software I'm working on now.
What a lovely community :)
Hello there,
I am Reza. I am software developer based in Tehran, Iran. I have been coding for around 8 years mostly in C++/python vision projects.
I have recently hopped into data science and been enjoying reading game changing books by Seymour Papert. Right now I am researching on a neo programming language I call Ficus. Ficus is a context-aware message oriented programming language inspired from Smalltalk and Logo intended for children of all ages including elderly people.
Education and AI is what I tend to think about a lot.
Hi there! Ranjit here...
I've been a software dev since 2001 up till 2014.
Progressed from Software Developer to Business Analyst to Lead Developer to Project Manager to Development Manager - then left all that 4 years ago to help and support my family business of pharmaceutical distribution - which is poles apart from what I did before.
Trying to get back to things that I love doing using part of my time everyday.
My blog: Transitioning from Software Dev to Dev Management
Hi All
I'm Jaffar, an ex-developer who is now in the space of UX Design and UX Research. My portfolio is at http://theuxgeek.com
I've always wanted to start something of my own, but have never gone to the execution phase.
I'm currently consulting in the UX phase with companies and start-ups to make it easy for the user to use the app, be it web or mobile. My background in development helps as I can suggest realistic changes to be built, rather than "fairy-tales" a designer might, with less knowledge of technology and limitations.
Hey, I am Chris, I am from Germany 26 Years Old. Currently, I am learning & working in the Topics of Design, Business & Art.
Hope to get some Feedback for my Projects and Ideas and find some nice people to exchange.
I wish you a beautiful Weekend.
Lovely greats
Chris
Hi Indie Hackers,
I am Paul, a father of two 4-year olds and am in my mid-40s myself. Until last year, I had not done any serious development for over 10 years. The Web and development tools were a little different back then! Ruby-on-Rails was a new thing and what I used for a small website in 2007.
I spent the last 12 months learning a bit of everything from MEAN stack development, SEO, Adwords, Value Proposition Design, to Lean Startup development.
I think I’ve done things backwards: developing a product before testing the market and spending 12 months on it before showing it to anyone. There has been a lot of self doubt but learning experience is something I feel good about.
This week I have put www.portfoliospreadsheets.com out into public beta testing. If you want to ‘See your stock portfolio performance at a glance’ please give it a go. This is my current challenge - to recruit beta testers.
My advice to newcomers: just do something from end to end, learning just-in-time.
I’ve already benefited from reading your posts so “Thanks!”
Hello!
I recently joined Indiehackers and am blown away by all the value bombs in this group already.
Currently, I help B2B SaaS leaders acquire & convert new users into happy, paying customers at TrafficIsCurrency.com. I don't think you'll find anyone else who gets more excited by improving free trial to paid conversion rates! I'm weird like that.
Previously, I worked at Vidyard where I helped launch and grow ViewedIt.com to over 100,000 users. Yay video! :)
Fun fact about me: I'm Canadian but travel quite a bit and am based out of Chiang Mai, Thailand right now. I can't get enough of Thai food....
If you love traveling or are in the SaaS space, I want to connect with you over a virtual coffee. Don't be shy!
Hello Indie Hackers,
I'm Rohitesh. I have been developing web applications and mobile applications since the past 9+ years and have an overall tech experience of 12+ years. During my free time, I am a whitehat security researcher and I have been featured as a Top hacker and have received several honorable mentions from sites like Google, Prezi, PayPal, Cobalt etc.
Recently I have launched a new mobile app named Utternik. I have designed and developed the full stack of the Utternik Mobile app.
It's a new social network which lets you express your opinion or review about almost anything in a new, unique and fun way. I have been working on this app since over 3 years now on a part time. Some time around last year, I quit my job to completely focus on it and after several feedback from closed beta members, I have finally launched a brand new version of the app with some exciting new features and it's now open to public.
A short summary about the app:
Utternik is a new mobile app which helps you to express yourself in a new, fun and an efficient way. Utternik is especially suitable for people who either have little time or find writing long, genuine reviews challenging. With Utternik's Value System, anyone can write pro reviews and opinions. You can check out more information at www.utternik.com
I am looking forward for your feedback and am open to answer questions to me, if any.
Thanks,
Rohitesh
Hey there 👋 I am Tobi, living in lovely Berlin. After beeing for a while a lawyer 👨⚖️and working as a political lobbyist for a German tech-startups association🤖 I got brainwashed enough to start my own little project 📲🤗
Build an app which allows rating places using the whole range of emojis. It basically changes this ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ into that 🍔🍺😋

Hello Indie Hackers,
I am Sudarsan, currently living in Singapore where I work as a Software Developer after Graduating from the National University of Singapore. I just joined and have been reading articles predominantly.
I am passionate about building products and I try to build products which solve problems. You can take look at my side projects on my personal website.
For the past a year and a half I have been trying to solve the problem for food expiry through inventory management at small and medium grocery stores. You can read more about my grocery side project journey here. Do let me know what you think :)

"hello", this is srikanth, working as data engineer and worked as backend engineer for almost 10 years on various tech stacks
Hi,
I'm Mathias, aka Maths, based in Stockholm and London and I'm new here.
I will be lurking, or rather learning, which is why I'm here and what I've been speeding up the last year and a half.
Spent my life in the marketing and media industry, running ad agencies. 18 months ago I transitioned into Head of Growth joining a team of fantastic software engineers, designers, and AI scientists and together forming Adverai (http://adverai.com) where we set out to solve the age-old problem of sorting out what works and what doesn't work in advertising. Humbled each day by the brilliant team I work with.
Happy to offer my expertise in anything related to marketing, advertising, and branding. Looking forward to reading and upvoting any clever conversation around engineering growth which is where my passion is.
My name is Martin and I have been involved with web development for more than 10+ years, at least 7 of which I have been doing this full time.
My experience focuses on web projects with a strong focus on PHP going along with the evolving frameworks. I also have a great level of understanding of Wordpress and have released a couple of proprietary themes. Apart from that I also have several e-commerce projects under my belt and many custom complex server-side implementations supporting mobile applications which are collaborations done with other developers for various clients. In addition, I have worked extensively with Laravel and managed to deliver significant commercial value to businesses I worked for by building a highly customized analytics platform incorporating a smart data tool.
I am a solid problem solver and have a great commitment to promised deadlines. I would gladly collaborate with multiple developers and other functional parties like designers etc. My availability is quite flexible in terms of time zones and also depends on the current workload. Despite my overall preference for backend development but I am very confident in my front-end skills and would gladly handle tasks that imply such competence.

Just checked out your site, this is a really neat idea! What are some of your sales struggles with a product like this? Do you have a lot of individuals who are customers or are most of your customers businesses? For example, would a team of copywriters at an ad agency use this product?
Hi Guys,
I am Aashish Singh from Toronot, Canada. I recently started my organization and started doing contract work but i am planning to start something of my own.
Today is the first day at India Hacker not sure if this is for people at my stage with almost to nothing progress with regards to my side hustle.
But i am hoping to connect to fellow indiaHackers here and learn something and get inspired :)
Hi There,
I'm Chase and I'm currently a sales engineer for 3D printing startup https://formlabs.com out of Cambridge, MA. On the side, I am working on building a footwear company called https://decoslides.com with my brother, a former software engineer at Optimizely.
Deco's goal is to make super comfortable, customizable slide sandals with minimum orders of just a single pair.
We're busy building and implementing new web tools, marketing automation, and in general just trying to grow sales however we can. I'm joining the community looking for advice from anyone who's dealt with supply chains, consumer fashion products, and general growth hacking.
Hello! I'm Nicolas, living in France, and boostrapping my product, Fieki (https://www.fieki.com).
I am an engineer and a product manager and never found the right app to share knowledge across teams that are involved in the product. Marketers, designers, developers, and product managers would all have their own apps for their own knowledge resulting in silos of data and content. That's how I came to create Fieki.
On the side I do some product management consulting, drink tea, and working hard on getting better at Japanese to go back living there as I did for a few years before having to go back to my home country.
Hello everyone, my name is Andrei, I'm software developer from Brazil. Right now I'm studying machine learning and eager to start a new product.
Still gathering ideas. I'll let you know when I have something to show.
Hi, I'm Antony Muga. I can't really stop talking about python programming language since I discovered it a couple of months back. Now, having said that, I wouldn't go as far as calling myself an expert in it.Because of this, I decided to try out my hand at building a developer community called Runtime Lab that focus on niche fields that are python intensive that is artificial intelligence, machine learning, blockchain and internet of things in my hometown. As soon as the Runtime Lab registers a serious online presence, I'll pivot it into a company or production house for the said technologies. Basically building a tech company in reverse, creating the online presence first then coming up with the products. I think it's going to be easier to approach investors when the online presence already speaks for itself. I'm doing this because I've smelt the coffee and everything is pointing towards these emerging technologies, more so in Africa, having the potential to disrupt so many fields and I don't want to miss this train, oh sorry, autonomous train. LOL!

Hello!
I'm David and I live in Stockholm, Sweden, although I'm originally from New Zealand. By day I work remotely as a growth marketer for a London-based SaaS company, and in my spare time I'm building https://www.findgrowthtools.com/, a curated list of the best tools my industry friends and I have come across during our work.
Hello everyone!
My name is Hélio (like the noble gas). I live at Natal, Brazil. A good place to meet beautiful beaches and eat shrimps at low cost and high satisfaction.
I am a Computer Engineer (but my main job is working like Petroleum Engineer, strange not? :P ), and I love create things.
Web wasn't my business, but now I openned my horizons (actually I openned 4 years ago) and now we are on the road, :) .
I have experience writing "college code" (median complexity, median size), not big projects yet.
I'm launching an app this year with my team (I recognized my willingness to undertake, finally) and I will publish more details as soon as possible.
I hope help everyone. I have a good background in creative processes and math, besides coding. Anyone that needs tips about where to go or details about brazilian market can ask me at no cost, :) .
P.S.: I love meditation. I have 5 years doing that and I strong recommend for anyone that have your own business. It's path to see around what you naturally doesn't see and know how to "lapidate" yourself.
So, any problem. Talk to me. See you.
Hi there,
I'm new to the community and have just started working on a side project. I work as a Product Manager and am interested in apps or tools to try and improve fitness.
I want to try and improve fitness particularly in teams by using (friendly) competition and rewards to increase the weekly progress people can make when it come to their health. Please offer some feedback on my site! www.reme.strikingly.com
Thanks!
Hello World....!
I'm visrey,
I'm from Bangalore. I worked as a full-stack developer with multiple companies for the last 4 years.

One of my side projects.
Hi all,
My name is Torbjörn, I'm a software engineer from Sweden. After listen to a bunch of IH podcasts I've now get motivated to try the life as an indie hacker. I will start, as a side project, to launch a couple of landing pages for product ideas I have.
I will post a link as soon as I have the first landing page up, it would be great with some feedback.
Then starts the hard work, to find potential customers and to drive traffice to the site.
A landing page question: What is in your experience the best Call to Action for an app that is under development?
Ideas I have:
"Try it for free" and then ask for email. After that, explaining that the app is under construction. Then emailing if they would like to help out beta-testing.
From the beginning explaining that the app is under construction and asking for help beta-testing or just to get a notification when the app is launched.
Other ideas?
Thanks
/Torbjörn
Hi folks,
My name is Emerson Almeida, I'm a Brazilian software developer, manly working with Ruby and javascript, but I also work with Golang, clojure, lua and elixir in my side-projects.
Currently I'm running a solo project called Megafono(https://megafono.host), the Megafono is a podcast platform to Brazilian producers, the mainly diference about others platform is I understand the people, the language and the podcast market here better than any others platform, because that we are helping the podcast ecosystem growing and the Megafono is growing together. I started the Megafono 1 and a half year ago, today we have more than 200 show and we transfer monthly more than 1T of audio. The project goes well, it's self-funded and profitable company, I'm looking for help to help me and maybe I grow up the team to more 2 or 3 people.
My advices are: 1. despite is cool start a solo project, it's hard to scale some bussiness models with just one person doing all the stuff, find a good co-founder is hard in the first moment but everything can be better later. 2. don't care too much about the pricefication in the first time, put a price and go public, you'll have time to think about it later. 3. know your customer better than any other else, the best way to do it is talk with than him
I'm learning a lot here in Indie Hackers, I expected help you soon.
Heyo! new here and wanted to say hi - I just recently co-founded ContentFly (https://contentfly.co) here in Toronto which provides on-demand marketing content for a monthly fee of $250, and we're growing fast!
Heard fellow indie hackers have been through this many times and I'm hoping I can steal some wisdom from y'all, and maybe share a few learnings myself :)
Hi, I'm Lawrence. I'm from Cebu, Philippines.
I work as a senior mobile developer for a startup in USA. I've been in the mobile development industry since 2011.
I just started to write a little blog for myself at https://lawgimenez.me, let's connect on LinkedIn.
Mobile development is challenging because it is constantly changing, keeping up is hard. If you have any questions regarding mobile development let me know.
Outside of tech, me and wife would hangout drink some coffee and sweets or finish Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Hi! My name is Supreet and I'm from San Francisco, CA. I came to IH to get inspired by all the projects and businesses people are working on!
I have a bit of a unique job myself, I'm an Image Consultant (Fashion Stylist) and I help the men and women of Silicon Valley dress better. I have a natural talent for this stuff and realize it can be tough for people who don't, especially men. So I launched www.pocketstylist.io - a place where men can learn about clothing.
The goal with PocketStylist is to help men build a foundation in timeless style. I developed a system that breaks down each piece of men's clothing and gives advice on how to put outfits together, how things should fit, what to look for when shopping, how to care for clothing, and outfit inspiration etc. I just started this project and am excited to see where I can take it!
Outside of work, I love camping, traveling, am involved with the Burning Man community here in SF, and have been playing around with creating a farm in my backyard (just got some city chickens!).
Hello,
Just wanted to say hi to everyone. I'm Michael from Philippines but living in Denmark. I work as a Linux administrator and still honing my skills to start building my ideas (hope to build a mobile app for catholic mass guide in danish soon).
Hoping to learn and inspire from entrepreneurs/starters and maybe provide assistance if necessary.
Hi there, my name is Peter. Joining IH to learn how to push my product (https://getsimpli.app/) to more users and see what the IH community is up to.
Hello Everyone, I m Sonakshi from India.Travelling is my hobby. I m foodie lover and blogger by profession.
Hi Everyone! 👋
I'm Gil, co-founder of Astra. We build smart technology for personal finance. We just soft-launched in the app store and have a public launch scheduled for next week on Product Hunt.
I came across Indie Hackers in an article on tips for launching. Looks like there are a ton of great resources and an active community here. Sweet!
This is my second startup (first in enterprise tech consulting, now in consumer fintech) - still learning tons so I'm always on the hunt for resources and feedback. I love being an entrepreneur and really enjoy helping other founders. I've also seen a lot over the past 10 years, so hopefully some of that can be useful to you!
Hi everyone -- I'm Kyle, a software engineer from Atlanta GA. I've been reading this site for a couple months now and I've really enjoyed the content and the ethos of indie hacking. This site has inspired me to finally stop procrastinating and actually launch a product (https://www.farsightforecast.com). I'm looking forward to continuing to learn from this community on the journey ahead. Next step for me: learning how to market this thing I've built...
hello... not been lurking around the community very much... just still hitting brick walls with the new web business EzySAAS. a forms and technical support ticket system provider...
I have been in and out of IT since 94.
Hi everybody,
My name is Mike. Since I was a kid, I dreamed to run my own business and since 2004 till now I’ve been trying to rise dozens of products (mobile, desktop and saas) but, of course, the majority of them died leaving me precious experience. During all these years I realized who I am and who I am not: I’m now a hustler, though I had a lot of “brilliant” business ideas, I’m not a writer, though I ran several blogs and even sold one. I’m just a developer, I know how to rise a working product from an idea, but have little to no power to market it.
In 2008, me and my partner (not a hustler either) started SQLBackupAndFtp 8. I wrote the application, he created the website. The product turned out to be quite successful and sold itself with little marketing efforts from our side. It allowed us to launched SqlBak 7, a SaaS version of SQLBackupAndFtp, several years later.
Today, we don’t code anymore, there are several developers in our team and one support guy. But we are seriously concerned about our growth and actively looking for ways to bring our growth to the next level, most likely by hiring somebody who is a hustler by nature.
Hope we can get some help from the community and if possible help others.
Hello there! My name is Łukasz (Lukasz, Luke, doesn't matter but I'm not very fond of Lucas/Lukas). I'm a Polish/English translator by education, Customer Success Manager by job, and a marketer by experience.
The most important piece of advice I learned and can give you right now: be sincere with your customers and don't spam them with scripted responses - instead, establish genuine human communication. I've received most positive feedback just being myself and trying to help.
True, my main reason to be here is to promote our product but I'm open to learn and share my knowledge and experience.
Oh, and I'm based in Poland, just like our company, CONREGO - https://conrego.com. We make SaaS event registration software so if you're looking for such solution, PM me. If I can't help, at least I'll try to point you in the right direction.
PS I'm single and pretty fun... mostly... sometimes... possibly.
Hi all,
I'm Hau Vo, a developer guy and currently I'm working as freelancer for some startups and spend my free time to work on a product that is Services On Fly.
Hi, I am Avi and I a fresh graduate from India. Right now, I do freelancing for Toptal. ⚡️
I came to this community because I want to create my own mini startup someday. In fact, I have paused all freelance jobs for this.
In the next coming months, I plan to give my best shot at generating revenue from products. I have built a lot of free open source tools but building something and asking money for it is something that scares me.
Hopefully, I will be able to get rid of this and generate my first online biz 💲soon.
My name is Xing, I am the co-founder of Moesif (https://www.moesif.com), an API analytics platform. Previously I worked at Zynga and Microsoft. CS grad from MIT.
Our team is all engineers and hackers. Happy to join this community.
Hello! Lon-time reader, firs-time poster.
Started reading IH interviews long ago on Reddit, and this motivated me to launch a side project!
Hello, I am from India, basically a Automation Testing engineer. But in my weekend time, I love developing Android apps.
Basically I am the developer of world's first Twitter client in Augmented reality for android.
Hi Guys
I've been lurking for a while, listening to the podcast and checking out all your interesting projects.
I'm a self-taught programmer, been writing code for about 6 years now. Had a number of jobs in that time and now I'm an iOS software engineer at a very large company here in the UK (which is humbling.)
My drive has always been entrepreneurship but in the past I've struggled with defining my goals and actually making something out of my projects. I've worked on many different side projects over the years and they've never once amounted to anything.
Reading IH has really inspired me to put the business before the code and get other people interested in my work.
I'm currently working on an API for movie data. It's something that I was very comfortable with hacking together so I think it will make for a decent 'first' project.
Look forward to spending more time here!
Hello there!
I'm Jordan... I live in Bentonville, Arkansas. I became interested in building startups at the University of Missouri when I attended the Startup Weekend that Zapier won in 2011 before they were accepted into Y Combinator.
I then went on to work for the opposite of a startup, the largest company in the world, Walmart Stores Inc. Although I felt stuck in a bureaucratic nightmare, I was able to feed my hunger for entrepreneurship by launching Startup Weekends across the state of Arkansas on the side. I put in a lot of blood, sweat, and tears without getting paid a dime to bring the event to my home state. We had a few successful startups launch at the events I hosted and the economic development groups in my area took note.
Eventually, my efforts lead to local chambers of commerce hiring me to help them launch programs like 1 Million Cups, the Venture Center, and business accelerator programs. But my desire to solve problems by building companies, so I teamed up with Tyler Presley in 2015 to begin working on Strengthen.
Since then, we launched (Strengthen)[https://www.strengthen.io] and have learned a lot along the way. You can see some of our signature events on our Indie Hackers page for Strengthen.
I'm excited to join this community because I want to build a more sustainable company that doesn't rely on outside cash or revenue unrelated to our core products.
Oh, and I've also been into Bitcoin and crypto since 2012 which has been crucial for our survival and helped us think of how we can integrate our services into open-ledgers in the future.
Glad to connect!
Jordan Carlisle
Hey! I'm just lurking for now. I'm deep inside the indiehacker scene in Helsinki, Finland, but its also great to be part of a bigger, international group as well. Looking forward to productivity-procrastinating here often!
Hi everyone! I've been listening to the podcast for several months now, building product as a WIP member. Since the podcast is really inspiring me everyday, I finally decided to join the community here :)
In my 9-5, I'm a PMM for iAdvize (European Conversational Marketing leader).
I have several side projects:
https://ConversationalMarketing.Guide which is a book about... conversational marketing :)
https://TravelOffers.email which is a service where you enter your city of departure, you maximum budget and you'll receive every month an email with the best flight deals matching your criteria
https://jobs.startupsnantes.com which is kind a job board (where I do the connection between companies and candidates, offers and profiles are not public) for the startup ecosystem in Nantes, France, where I live.
Happy to be here and can't wait to participate in all your conversations :)
Hello! I'm Veiko living in Estonia and sharing my time with London, UK.
I've studied Economics and have MBA in Technology Management and Entrepreneurship but always liked coding. So my first job was actually in the software company building POS system. I so much loved to play around with all the hardware and make them talk to my software :).
Today, I'm running a product development lab called Mobi Lab (https://lab.mobi) and I've got some good talent to work with me. Unfortunately, they won't let me near the code anymore (can't blame them). So have to stick to founder and CEO role most of my days. I do a little bit of consulting around the design and innovation. Also, I'm re-investing my earnings as an angel investor and work with some great start-up companies.
But sometimes, when nobody sees, I do play around with the code and designs on my home automation projects ;).

Hi, IH! And thanks, Channing, for creating such a fab resource!
I'm Harlem, newly minted software developer engineer. Now fully-stacked, my main gig is Happy Endings. (Smiling) I moonlight for Amazon on the side.
Based in Seattle, I'm here in the hopes of finding accountability buddies similarly in pursuit of the elusive MVP.
Hi everyone I am Henok, I am new here.

Hi! I'm Kevin from Perú. I discovered this website a few months ago and started reading the case studies, blog posts and discussions. I'm very fan!

Hello, Indie Hackers
My name is Kevia and I am currently a software engineer by day and entrepreneur by night. I split my time right now working for a big company and building my career. After work I hit the internet and books to learn how to build a product/side project. My ultimate goal is to start small and learn the ropes then build the next <insert some big time company here>. This community has been amazing so far and I've only been on it for a few days. I have learned a TON. Right now I am actively working on a podcast with a co-worker and any helpful tips, resources or articles would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
Hi there. I'm Bianca, forward-thinking and entrepreneurial spirit. :)
https://www.linkedin.com/in/biancagrigoras/
Digital and Instagram marketing are my expertise and focus areas.
I'm currently working for a startup with a very entrepreneurial culture, which I love: www.Preppr.com. I'm looking for inspiration for growth hacking ideas to increase the userbase - it's a scheduling tool for Instagram (automatic posting, best time to post suggestions, easier management of several IG accounts).
I'm open to share knowledge or partner with others that are looking for Instagram related help to grow their business.
Please don't hesitate to reach out or connect with me on LinkedIn if I can help in any way.
Hi, I am Slawosz from London. I am full time software developer, in my free time I create projects. Over last 10 years I create around 20 different projects - opensource tools, product prototypes etc.
Currently I am creating my most serious venture, tool for developers/designers to create, manage and send email templates. If you would like to try, let me know.

Hey All, This is Azeem from Houston Texas. I am responsible for Marketing at Payfunnels. If you have any question let me know.
Hello,
I learned about Indie Hackers recently and have been lurking for a bit, finally decided to make an account and participate!
I launched my website about 3 months ago at the beginning of May, but the process of starting my own business spanned about 9 months dating back to the end of last year. I don't come from a tech background, have 0 experience in coding/programming, and started with 0 funding or partners, but honestly I saw a problem in the industry I was in so I decided to try my best to find a solution for it.
All of this culminated with the launch of: https://myresumedoctor.com/. I take an honest, scientific approach by attempting to increase a candidate's chances of finding a job as much as possible. I realized that a lot of people have been fed generic, unscientific data that can actually HURT them more than it helps, so I started Resume Doctor to take a more scientific, objective approach.
At the moment, I'm working on overhauling my entire website and figuring out how to market myself more effectively. The website thing is going to take a lot of work as again, I have 0 programming experience and building my website from scratch the first time took months! But at least this time I have experience, a blueprint, and a bit of an idea of where I'm going. As for marketing, I've primarily tried Reddit with a bit of Facebook, and just recently stepped my toes into Instagram and Quora.
Hoping to make my mark as an entrepreneur as I don't intend to go back to the corporate life anytime soon. Best of luck to everyone here!
Hello lads,
By day I am an attorney which is amazing. I have worked with several startups and also been part of the managing team for an incubator.
I’m neither a developer, designer nor builder. I have taken a few design courses (besides many others) but I’d be an imposter if I tried to describe myself with that tag.
Besides simply being curious and driven to experimentation, I have one simple idea that I have compiled a ton of notes on for a long time. I read a lot and follow blogs to learn and someday when I finally feel ready, I’d find me a web developer willing to take a 30-day challenge and we’d solve one small problem for unknown startups, founders and such.
For now, I’m still learning. And I’m happy to be here.
👋 Hi folks!
Just a quick intro from my side: I'm Frank (29), product designer and founder of Grible — an agency that has helped other organizations build intelligent digital products. Together with a few others, our game plan with Grible has always been to first sell product development to other organizations. Eventually with the goal to try and start our own SaaS business without taking investment money.
After we've managed to build a very decent 6 figure business and playing around with an idea on the side first, we decided to make a hard switch. For about 8 - 12 months we'd 'buy' ourselves some time and invest in a product that has now become https://shipright.co — a tool for product teams to make sense of user feedback across channels.
We've made a decent start but don't feel we hit real p/m fit yet. Always loved the IndieHackers podcast and decided to join in here as well. Super eager to learn from all of you that managed to pull it off!
hello .. just joined this community.
I am hoping to get advise and connect with people on several questions I have to get my biz off the ground.
primarily - how exactly does one go about market validation on new concepts ?
Also - I need help with B2B sales - and if there is a channel / method I should follow.
Looking forward to connecting on this platform.
Hi there!
I'm Eduard, 26, born and raised in Transylvania, currently residing in Oxford, UK.
I've been lurking on various forums/communities for the past >10 years, but I've been a lazy boy and never pursued my own passion projects.
I joined this Indie Hackers in an attempt to connect with like-minded individuals and hopefully keep myself accountable.
During the day I am leading the technical marketing team at a marketing agency.
During my spare time I like to read, cook, run, go to the gym, enjoy the occasional session of video/board games, and run a podcast with my friends. :)
Hello! I'm Wolfgang and I live in Maracaibo, Venezuela. I'm a web developer trying to become an indie hacker.
For the moment I am working in a price comparator for Thinkpads
https://trivagoforthinkpads.wsalazar.net
I'm very new in the processes of bootstrapping a public project so I'm sure I'm gonna screw in some way or another, hope you can help me in this journey...
Howdy folks 👋 I've been a long time lurker from Brighton UK but joined today after convincing myself I can now perhaps add a bit of value from my own side project learnings. Look forward to the topics! 🔎

Hi everyone
I'm Bezan, a long time lurker, finally decided to make an account and start talking!
I very recently quit my job to start my own company. So to tell you a bit about what I do...
I use my background in design and engineering to help solve business problems (such as increasing sales, launching products/campaigns, user acq. and so on).
The reason for starting this business is simply that in my previous role I started out as a designer and was soon responsible for not just creating the product but also the strategic campaigns, sales/conversion metrics and so on.
I thought, why not help other businesses with these skills I have?
So that's my short story!
Please feel free to drop me a message if you think I might be able to help with anything or to just chat and exchange some ideas.
Hi! I'm new to IndieHackers and excited to be here. I run Curbly.com and ManMadeDIY.com (and have for more than 10 years). Right now I'm working on my next startup, InfluenceKit (http://www.influencekit.com), which provides automated reporting for sponsored content creators.
I've been building web applications since 2004 (Rails, HTML, CSS, Javascript). Outside of work, you can find me on a mountain bike, on a backpacking trip, or at the zoo with my two kids (6 and 9).
Hello, moderate lurker. 30 yo, Berkeley EECS undergrad student after working for engineering firm in Seattle most of my 20's.
I appreciate the practical insight this site brings. Currently developing games and BI tools for apple marketplace at home, though academically focused on system design.
Hello all!
My name is Steve Sanders, and I've been working as a web developer for about 8 years now. I currently do full-stack javascript development in Angular and Node. In the past I have done everything from small business WordPress sites to consulting for huge telecom and pharmaceutical companies.
I grew up in Peoria, Illinois but I'm currently living in Lisle - a suburb of Chicago.
When I'm not at my day job working on IoT products for a company called ConnectSense, I love to work on my side projects.
One of my most popular side projects is Episode Ninja - I launched it a little over a year ago and it has been steadily picking up steam through organic SEO. Episode Ninja compiles user ratings from a few different sources to build a list of the "best" episodes of any given TV show. It's currently averaging about 100k sessions a month and I will be sharing more about it here as I grow the project.
Hey there! I've been lurking on IH for a while and decided it's time to create an account ;)
My name is German and I'm from... Germany ;) I got started with building communities when I was 13 years old and kept trying new things, constantly exploring new fields. In 2009 I've had a solid business with a Gaming Community that created several k MRR from subscriptions. With the same company I began renting out Gameservers and later on Webspace/Dedi/VPS. I've had exclusive hosting deals with a larger "indie" Gamestudio back then. We also ran multiple game-related wikis. In 2014 I shifted focus for my company on media production (primarily livestreaming). In 2016 we did various large TV advertising productions for a private TV channel's subsidiary. The hosting part was sold to an Indian company in 2016 as well. Other than that, I've ran multiple events in Munich. Oh, and all that while having a 5-9 job (IT Security).
Since last year I am involved in SecurityTrails, a startup that aims on making blind-spots in corporation networks more visible, by giving companies an easy way to access passive scanning data.
Any questions? Shoot :)
I'm Mike. A couple of years ago I created a remote job board/aggregator called https://www.remotelyawesomejobs.com ... I knew that I wouldn't get rich off the idea and that there were already a couple of similar sites, but every other side-project I had ever worked on stalled and never saw the light of day, mostly because I used side-projects as an excuse to teach myself some new framework or technology, and that ended up slowing me down. With this project I stuck w/ trusty old Rails and committed to launching it, just to prove to myself I could do it. Since then I've learned a lot of things about SEO and DevOps just keeping the thing running, so it's been worthwhile. It's also barely turning a profit, which is good because at least it's not costing me anything. :)
Now I'm looking for my next idea for something to turn into a "real" SaaS that I can make into a lifestyle business. So far what few ideas I've had have already been done by other people, and I can't come up with a new way to "spin" it or target a niche, so I haven't bothered yet. I'm here lurking mostly for ideas and/or inspiration.
I heard about this site from the founder of my current employer, MeetEdgar, which was bootstrapped - it became the kind of company I'd love to be able to build myself... I know it's a cliche, but I just don't have the idea yet.
What are some of your ideas that other people have implemented? It's not easy, but you could execute on a better product. Facebook wasn't the first social network, Google wasn't the first search engine, and iphone wasn't the first smartphone. Have you used some of these other services and found frustrating things about them?
Hi there, my name is Luis , I live in Barcelona, Spain. Web Developer with more than 15 years of code experience. Passionate about DevOps and UI/UX.
Looking for opportunities of being part of awesome products.
Hi, I'm Louis.
I'm the creator of a small Chrome extension called Nudge (http://www.nudgeware.io) that helps you be less addicted to the internet. Here's a letter to Mark Zuckerberg about a feature in it which deletes your Facebook News Feed:
https://hackernoon.com/dear-mark-zuckerberg-heres-20-that-i-stole-from-you-3f93c7fc0390
I'm also the founder of a very simple social network called Sunday, which lets you share meaningful stories once a week with the people you really care about. You can sign up by emailing anything to write@sundaystori.es.
I'm from London - I used to work in investment banking, then in marketing at a startup, and since then I taught myself to code in order to make these products. Feedback on either gratefully received.
Here to find out about what other Indie Hackers are doing and to pick up tips!
Cheers,
Louis
Hello Community,
I am a good enough "full" stack developer meaning, I know Python, PHP and Javascript. I am mainly looking for new ideas or to join a good team/sales marketing person.
Hi :)
I'm currently bootstrapping a project (product - www.HealthyBack.pl to be precise, but it's a polish-market-only product as for now so there's no English version of the page), in Poland. After lots of trying, failing and many books on marketing, advertising, business - anything I could put my hands on, I've finally figured out myself how to drag down Customer Acquisition Cost and growth hack the business from loosing money to breaking even/little profit. Now in the middle of deciding what to delegate first in order to skyrocket it! :)
Also I've been DJing for the past 7 years and I co-own cafe. These things are financing my other ventures. Currently trying to make more passive income.
Been reading lot's of content at IndieHackers and decided to join the community as an active member. This community feels like a MasterMind group! :)
If you think I could help you in any way - hit me up. I'm struggling to find like-minded people here in Poland - this community is promising! ;)
PS: Let's connect if you're also reading lots of business related stuff and exchange titles and thoughts. I've been reading for 1-2h every day only for the last couple of years in order to improve my ventures and my own well-being - and it's changed my life.
Hey everyone,
My name is Dan Isaza. I'm a data scientist by training, full-stack developer by vocation. I was born and raised in Seattle, and I've been living in the SF Bay Area for the last 6 years. (Moving to Chicago in August, though).
I studied computational math and stats at Stanford and joined the core engineering team at Gigster in 2016. Previously, I did an internship at Palantir in a biz dev / data science role. I also co-founded NeoReach, an influencer marketing platform, where I ran our Fulfillment arm.
I'm really interested in tools that allow people to build without writing code. (Think Airtable, Zapier, Google App Scripts, etc). My hypothesis is that there are tons of businesses that you could start by using these tools and writing little to no custom code.
I'm currently running a small experiment where I publish a data science interview question each week, then publish a solution to an email list that costs $1/week. If anyone's interested in checking it out, you can read more here: https://medium.com/weekly-data-science/retail-analysis-challenge-bcd2d1ca1e82

I'm excited to be here!

I'm here to share experiences on how we are growing Drag + learn from other experiences to optimize our journey.

Hi everyone, I'm Ruth from England, I'm very early in the indie hacker stage. Currently working on a site that shares videos from TED, Creative Mornings etc to inspire people. Also looking at starting an email newsletter along side it. Have had lots of random jobs, interested in making things!
Hello! Lurking since community launched. I launched my side project 4 months ago, and just hit 10k/mo revenue. I am about to spin it out as its own company so it can stand on its own via Stripe Atlas.
Hello Hello!
My name is Johnnie, CTO - Software Engineer from Venezuela currently living in the US working on a Start Up in Lima, Peru.
Crazy I know!
The startup I co-founded is called Parkner and it will be the AirBnB for parking in LATAM in the years to come.
We have been going at it for almost two years. We launched an Alpha back in 2016 and have been working hard at getting to PMF since the launch of our app in February.
Check it out at: https://parkner.pe
We have a mobile app where providers and users can connect and transact online. It is an integrated marketplace where you can search, book and pay without leaving the app.
Our current goal is to figure out a solution to get provider supply into the platform so that our marketplace doesn't look like a desolated wasteland.
Hi! I´m Patricio, from Argentina, I just tried to download the app because I going to Lima in September and I will try the app for sure (I couldn´t download it because I´m still in my country), nice idea, in big cities could be an easy way to make some extra bucks, good luck!
