Hello everybody at IH. My name is Justin Johansson. I signed up here a few weeks ago and made a few posts but hadn't gotten around to introducing myself.
The little I've seen of IH so far is totally refreshing. Even a tiny comment I made about a database visualisation tool by another IHer was rewarded with an email this morning announcing Postgres DB support and a free 1 month trial by the startup. Great friendly approach!
Anyway, I'm Australian, studied Electrical Engineering at uni over 20 years ago but sold my soul to software engineering. Started out with Assembly Language on the Intel 8080 microprocessor before getting into C and C++.
Fast forward, I've been developing Node.js applications in TypeScript the last five years. I really enjoy optimising the hell out of code which makes me a good techie but a lousy marketer.
I'd like to change this around a bit so I'm really looking forward to learning from this community and hopefully giving something back too.
Let's see if to finish my night I can come up with something for the 10-words-or-less channel about my side-project!
Best wishes to all, Justin Johansson.
Welcome again, Justin 👋
I think a lot of the people in this community are engineers that want to become better with other business processes and I'm sure you'll get a lot of useful insights and feedback around here. You're in a good place 🙌
s/code/conversion funnels/for the win?Nice to meet you, Justin!
Welcome as well! Been here for a month or so and I can totally relate to your comment that the community is just awesome! I'm curious, how would you explain TypeScript to a non-tech person in no more than 10 words?
Welcome to Indie Hackers, @indiescripter!
Hi Justin! You’ve certainly got lots of experience in tech! What project(s) are you working on?
Welcome, and good luck! I agree that this community is very friendly and thoughtful!
My brother is also EE. I think he really likes engineering, but has considered going back to the software world a few times because he could get paid more and work for better companies.
