In less than two months and not much of a push, I've now hit 100 paying members for https://www.newco.app/ - Couldn't be happier!
The new platform will be live shortly and super pumped to get it out there

Great news!
How do the customers break down between monthly plan, annual plan and lifetime subscription?
I'd be intrested to understand given that:
a. I imagine most customers are looking for relatively short term subscriptions due to the nature of the product
b. my own development project, though it is in a very different niche, is also likely to be one which customers will only need for a relatively short time.
4
well actually its quite the opposite!
72 yearly
15 monthly
13 lifetime

That is both curious, interesting and very encouraging!
That does surprise me though because I would have thought people would go off and do their own thing once they had extracted all the value from you that they could.
I was going to calculate the percentages and then remembered you have exactly 100 customers ... duh!
85% of customers are making a greater than monthly commitment. Hmmn. Strokes beard he doesn't possess ...

There is a lot of different ways to do things, lots of different tools and lots of different elements/components that you can use on your website... its an ever-growing process of making and improving. I think people are curious to keep improving their skills and seeing what is possible
3
That makes sense. I was assuming they would come, learn to build something specific for their own purposes and then leave - which is probably how I would have used such a service if I was in the market.
1
I'm also curious if anyone has bought the lifetime subscription yet. :)
2
Curiosity satisfied!

see above :)

Haha! You FAST.
And congrats on the numbers!

haha. thanks

Ben,
I appreciate these updates and the transparency.
I think there are a few themes to pull out from your success:
1.) The power of having an audience in the niche your serve.
2.) That it's not essential to have an idea no one else has come up with beforehand. There were other nocode websites and platforms before your launched.
3.) To build light MVP and validate (ready, fire, aim or Agile process). People in a similar situation would have felt the need to produce half a dozen lengthy courses before launching. You put together something simple, and a promise of further similar content, and proved your concept feasible - this is a big takeaway for me as I always over-engineer stuff.
Best of luck, and do keep us posted.
1
absolutely! appreciate your thoughts and support.
3
A little bit of progress every day... congrats!
1
yep for sure! Haven't done a big push yet but soon!
3
Congrats, Ben! 🎉

Thanks dude! Will message you on Twitter about a little idea I have :)

What strategies did you use to gain 100 customers in two months?
1
No real 'strategy' - message people, email, build in public, produce something people find helpful
2
Great news, well done!
1
Thanks!
2
Congrats Ben :D
1
thanks!
2
What tech did you use to develop the plataform?
1
its built using Webflow. I use useloom.com for making the videos. Typeform + stripe for payments. Airtable for my database
2
@toss How did you reach 16k/month visitors so quickly?
1
I made /toolkit which did well on PH. But I've just been trying to push out new videos here, on reddit and HN where I can - not much success though!
1
So traffic is Referrals and Organic Search (Direct visits), right?
2
This is awesome, congratulations!
1
thanks!
2
You just hit 101 paying customers!
Great work!!
1
wooop! (actually 102 haha)
2
Well done Ben. Whats the deal with tutors? I think you mentioned on WIP getting people to do tutorials?
Care to share how you got the initial paying customers? And what you did to grow?
1
Charged from day one without a product or site - had followers from building previous side projects over the years.
I've not done much other than be transparent on IH, PH and wip.chat - posted some free tutorials.
2
This looks awesome. Congrats on the milestone!
1
thanks a lot

Congrats Ben!!

Im very curios to hear your reasoning how did you came up with pricing? Especially over the fact there is huge difference of paying monthly vs yearly.
I usually don't buy yearly licences, but I would buy this one. Offer is just to attractive.
1
I made it up!
I thought, what would be a reasonable price for this but still an attractive offer - it needs to meaningful enough that people will make sure they try to learn.
The yearly offer is much more attractive than monthly on purpose... if you sign up for a month, you could only get (at least) 4 new videos in your membership, whereas with yearly you'd get at least 52 new videos.

Thanks Ben for promptly answer.

I follow you on Twitter and love the fact that you reply to everyone, everywhere. Goodluck with everything and I'm sure you're going to kill it with this one :)
1
It would be so funny if he didn't reply :)
1
Appreciate that! Thanks for the support. I got into this startup world as a community manager, talking to people is my thing!
1
Oh wow, need to learn 🙌
How'd you learn so much tech then? 🤷♂️
2
Just diving in head-first! I ran Community at Product Hunt for two years, spoke to countless founders, saw over 80k+ products launch, read as much as possible! You pick up a few things :)
1
Sweeeet! Do let me know if I may be able to help at any point of time :)
