We all dream of making it big -- it is like winning the lottery on the toy or tool you built. Just take a look at IndieHackers and tell me you don't want to accomplish what some of these really awesome people have accomplished. Truly, you are all an inspiration and thank you for your courage to speak up about your accomplishments.
Before I get on a plane, I usually open up several tabs from IndieHackers, just because you guys keep me calm on the plane ride anywhere, as I read your interviews, you inspire and encourage me, and you make me brave enough to want to be like you, you who were all like me, scared, trying to figure it out, making mistakes along the way, but learning, and in your own way, finding some success in your lives.
Right now, someone who puts themselves up in an IndieHackers interview and says they are making $100 a month - you are awesome! Even people that have accomplished making $5 a month, $10 a month, $20, $30, $40, or $50 a month. KUDOS TO YOU! You've accomplished something huge! Thank you for being awe-inspiring.
And thank you, Courtland, for being the Great Man who brought us all together.
When I first discovered Indie Hackers, I told my girlfriend "I've found my people."
my tribe. I thought Hacker News was the best thing out there until i stumbled on Indie Hackers. Now HN looks like a bunch of armchair experts compared to this scrappy bunch.
I love that description
You and me both
Omg! Those were my very words! :-)
I like that.
You guys might not know this, but I consider myself a bit of a loner. I tend to think of myself as a one-man wolf pack. But when I met Courtland and his community of IndieHackers, I thought: "Wait a second. Could it be? And now, I know for sure. I just added 4,000+ more people to my wolf pack.”
I'm new on Indie Hackers and just read this. What a start on a new community. Wow. Thanks Matt.
Indie Hackers is a pretty special community of like-minded people. I haven't seen any of the aggression that you would see on a typical developer forum. People are enthusiastic to help, regardless of what level of experience you have. Some people like @Mubs have built many, many projects and can release awesome projects in a weekend, whilst a lot of people are learning the ropes, with an awful lot of us somewhere in-between!
Welcome, Mathias!
Thanks 🎉
Wow, yes. I totally agree. This is so refreshing to hear. I really can't be bothered with any of the chatter around unicorn shit anymore. This is where I feel most at home, so thank you IH and the whole community for being so damn awesome!
I worked at one of the B2B unicorns and even though there was lots of kool-aid, it was good for learning a lot of pain points and getting product ideas, especially with how much growth pains they were experiencing.
Everyone loves watching people like Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Steve Jobs talk.
The people on this website are my heroes.
Thanks for posting this Matt, i feel the same. I got here through the podcast and I love it here. Kudos to everyone making, bootstraping, freelancing!
Haha I also gear up tabs before I get on the plane! Last flight I made the mistake of pressing back (totally forgot) and the whole thing got messed up and all my tabs went to shit :( Lesson learned!
I, too, hope to figure it out soon and join the recurring revenue club!
Try using the app pocket. Helps me save my articles for later reading
Can they be viewed offline? I actually have Pocket in my bookmarks but ditched it in favor of the OneTab chrome plugin....but then I do the above and mess it up :)
Yeah it can be viewed offline. After you have added an article to your pocket, just go click into it on your device and viola. It will be downloaded and available when ready. Just note that some elements like ads and videos won’t be present
Iiiiinteresting. Thanks! May have to go back to Pocket.
