So I'm currently trying to get users to observely to try it out. Doing that I wonder how many of them will stay.
Of course it heavily depends on the service, on the price etc. etc. but I'd love to hear what your experience was doing a step like that. What conversion quotes did you experience?
I would love to just get a little feeling how much I can expect.

Will have the same problem soon. At the moment i'm preparing to launch free public beta version. I was thinking about giving beta users a long period to decide to move to paid plan (from 3 to 6 months). But have no idea how customers will react.
So, I haven't worked directly in the motion that you're looking at with free -> paid, but I have been on a large scale project with 1000s of users to go from paid -> paid with on-boarding to a new platform.
You need to make the transition between the stages entirely painless. You should be user-testing that repeatedly and retrieving any and all feedback around that user-journey.
I'd suggest creating a journey map to better understand what your users are working through, and ensure that process is both easy to navigate and selling the true value of your pro service during the initial phase-gates.
