New Landing Page. Share your reaction please!

Hello everyone.

I released https://autenti.ca/smile like 3 days ago and it has been doing very well IMHO. I have talked to people on reddit, HN, and IH, asking for feedback and all most of the people coincided in the fact that the landing page was not good, so I tried to create a simpler, more descriptive version of it that estates better the intention of the website: make you feel better.

I want to test if the new landing page does a better job at making people trust the site, and if not, what suggestions do you have.

Thank you all for taking the time to read this, check the website, and share your opinion.

    Hey!

I like the website design, it's clean and what is awesome - small amount of text. 2 things from me:

    1. 2 same buttons with the same text on the top ("Let's begins") - was it intentional? For me it was a bit confusing.

    2. Maybe you could add some claim to make people want to use your solution immedialty, for example "4 seconds with the app for an awesome day"? It's just a thought :)

Interesting idea by the way, keep it up!

Ok Mateusz, the new version including your suggestions is ready. I included "4 seconds smiling in this site may boost your mood". You can see the new version here

Thanks for comments and for cheering me up!

I like the idea of expressing everything in one single phrase @mbajko.

The 2 buttons on the top with the same text was a bug that has been fixed already. You probably opened the page full screen.

Thanks for your suggestions. I'm taking notes and will publish a new version by tomorrow

    1. Like others, you have a button labeled "Let's Begin" before I remotely know what I'm getting in to

    2. I'm skeptical of the overall concept because further research seems to indicate things like the "Power Pose" to make you better was incorrect. For example: https://www.npr.org/2016/10/01/496093672/power-poses-co-author-i-do-not-believe-the-effects-are-real

    3. If you're a woman, you've often been told to "smile more" once or more in your life. It is actually its own meme because for some women it has become a pain point (e.g., http://time.com/5403533/brie-larson-captain-marvel-smile/)

    4. Your favicon for the site makes me think AT&T in the year 1996.

    5. If you legally can drop

    "About privacy
This site uses a smile recognition technology that works with your camera only after your approval."

I would suggest you do it and just leave the comparison to Instagram, etc, which is a really smart idea.

    1. Your app failed immediately for me with the message

    Something is not working

Hey @MostlyHuman, here are the changes I did based on your suggestions:

      Number 1

"Let's Begin" before I remotely know what I'm getting in to

I added a phrase before the button that reads "4 seconds smiling in this site may boost your mood". I also changed the text in the button from "Let's Begin" to "Boost My Mood". I think those two things give the user a better context about what the site is about.

      Number 2 and 3

      I'm skeptical...
      ...has become a pain point

I didn't address these points in this update.

      Number 4

Your favicon for the site makes me think AT&T in the year 1996.

I have a new favicon!! I like it. What about you?

      Number 5

Drop this site uses smile recognition technology

I didn't do it because it's not part of the landing page. I will do it soon

      Number 6

Your app failed immediately for me

I couldn't address this issue. I haven't found a reason for the site to fail different from being open from internal browsers like those found on messenger or instagram.

I do appreciate your opinion and consider it valuable. Hopefully the changes covered your recommendations. If there's some other thing that you would like to see on the site please let me know. I'll be happy to implement it!

@MostlyHuman This is an amazing feedback. Thanks a lot. I will work on it today and will get back to you if that's ok.

I have a question though regarding the error you saw.

I have noticed that when you open the page from apps like messenger or instagram it doesn't work. Where did you open the app from?

The first thing I noticed was that I didn't know what it was about until I scrolled all the way down. The first two panels, above the fold, specifically the image with call to action and the three-column sections, don't mention anything about the app or the app's purpose. I didn't even know this was about an app, I thought it was a "improve your mood" article.

I had to scroll down to discover that a) it was an app, and b) it was for improving mental health.

I did find the explanation on the privacy and how the app works, useful in establishing a level of trust.

@cliffort You are very right! Sometimes I get focused on the aesthetics and don't pay attention to the content. I will improve it today and get back to you. I would love to have your opinion about the next version if that's ok with you.

On the other hand, did the app work for you? How did you like it?

Thanks for taking the time to review the site and write this feedback. It's very valuable and I appreciate it a lot.

No problem, happy to help and look over your next landing page.

I did not try the app, I was just reviewing the content of your landing page.
