Hi.
Not really looking for a cofounder but I am looking to talk to anyone who's got serious shopify/dev skills. And if things work well, there might be an opportunity.
I've been looking at different ecommerce solutions, and shopify is what I'm trying to get more data for at the moment.
Basically, my larger goal, is to create a solution to handle textbooks for the US based college community. Think chegg/bookrenter (although bookrenter is no more). I'm not sure one can build a Chegg (chegg.com) like book site with a shopify process, but I'd like to dive in and understand if it's at all possible.
As far as the functionality of my target site, I'm only considering the portion involved with the selling of the new/used/rental books. The chegg site site has a good deal more "stuff" to it!
If you've got the chops, hit me up for a chat!
Thanks
This is confusing at best, disingenuous/clickbait at worst.
Also not a big fan of the title.
You could build Chegg pretty easily with Shopify and a few plugins. Wouldn't need much dev work.
The harder part is the
sell us your booksfunctionality. It's easy enough to work out how much the book costs new etc, but you need to know how much that particular book is worth to you as the Chegg-clone. (Is it in demand, do you already have 20 in stock for example...)That's not particularly difficult dev work, but it involves a lot of insider knowledge which you need to build up.
Hey Louis.
Thanks for the reply.
I've pretty much got the "demand" side worked out. The crawler I have crawls ~300-400 colleges, and returns the class/book data, and I'm in talks with vendors for the fulfillment side. The actual book piece is where I'd need to eventually focus my energies, and in all honesty, I'd prefer to have a partner who knows this piece solid.
The Chegg/Bookrenter kinds of sites built their sites from scratch, using millions to tie it all together. My real question now, is what's really required to essentially create the same kind of processes, and at what cost?
So I'm curious as to what magento/shopify bring to the table to create that shopping site/cart kind of experience.
thanks
