[Show IH] A service that tells you when news is published

Hi IH !

Harbinger is a service for investors and traders of stock, forex and crypto-currencies.

You build a watchlist of the things that interest you. We observe around fifty verified, trustable news outlets from the BBC to the Wall Street Journal. When news is published that is relevant to your interests, we notify you. Notification is typically delivered less than two minutes after publication, so you can identify opportunities and reduce risk.

The web application places the news into context with enhanced, real-time price charts and technical analysis. If you prefer to stay mobile you can receive notifications through Telegram and Slack.

If you want our code to talk to yours, we offer an API with web sockets integration.

We're offering it for free to early adopters - that's you. Have a go and let me know what you think.

Have a great day !

So it's like cheap version of the Bloomberg Terminal? Could work if you aim it at retail investors.

Much cheaper. In fairness, we don't give you hardware or all their trading tools. Different strokes for different folks.

Retail investors will certainly see value from being kept up to date by Harbinger. We expect to price the service to make it accessible to individual non-professionals.

The API makes sure that organisations can integrate with their own tools too.

      Thanks James !

Yeah their offering is hardcore but it's aimed solely at institutional investors with the price tag to match.

News is that one thing that people who are trying their hand at day trading always want and need, so I figure that'd be who would go for it.

I remember watching a presentation from Anton Kreil about how the economic incentives are aligned in the system to basically reel in retail traders, get them to day trade using leverage and then the institutions take the other side of their bets and they're blown out after 90 days losing around $30k. If that's true I wonder about the possibile LTV of a customer? Food for thought anyway.

Then he shows Goldman Sachs publicly available financial reports (10K?) and buried on page 500 is a chart which shows how many days out the year Goldman Sachs wins and loses at trading. It was a 90% win rate. Fucking astonishing.

The idea is great, but your user interface needs some tweaks. I went through the process of signing up, creating a feed and stumbled on some point where I did not know what to do next or what to put into the text fields. For example I have been on the dashboard, it said that I have no feeds but it also did not give me any option to add one (I had to go into the menu and find another page where I add it). Then I went to the page where I could create feeds and asked myself what to put into the text fields (Links? Multiple keywords? ticker symbols?).

    keep on improving 👍

Great feedback @anubis ! So I'm sure I understand, would it help if we guided users more through getting their feeds set up ? Thanks for taking a look, hope you keep using it !
