Suggestion for IH: Starter Pack for Indie Hackers

Last weekend a friend of mine took part in one of these 'build a startup over the weekend' events. I personally don't think they are very useful. One thing I did find cool however, is that each participant was given a discount/free trial for different products and services they might need. For example, free bootstrap templates, AWS credit and so on.

For me this would be less useful, as I'm pretty comfortable with my setup for new projects. For a first time founder however, this could save a lot of time and money.

Could Indie Hackers not quite easily put together a 'starter package' for new users? Perhaps at some point connected to the products page. For example, 'process 10 payments with Stripe, unlock a free month of product X.'

I imagine it would help encourage founders to focus on the important stuff. Also, it would increase adoption of IH products and those favoured by the IH community.

Thoughts?

Great suggestion! It'd be great to compile a list of the kinds of tools, discounts, etc that people who are getting started would find particularly helpful. Maybe I'll make a thread asking everyone and send it out in Monday's newsletter.

    Hey.

This kind of thing is great depending on what you're building, and where you are in your process.

If you take a look at the accelerators in the Global Accelerator Network (GAN) -- YC/TechStars/etc.. and look for the benefits, you see that there are some serious benefits to belonging to some of these operations:

    $25-100K of cloud computing services

Lots of storage from different operations

    Financial services

    Legal Services

Definitely. I think IH has the power/reach to do something similar (but on a smaller scale).

IMO, being a bit prescriptive would be useful for most first time founders as well.
