Why?
That extra nudge of accountability to achieve even a small step on your IH journey each day.
To join in:
01 Share your epic (a big chunk of work with a meaty objective) you'd like to complete by the end of October.
02 Share what you accomplished yesterday.
03 Share what you commit to accomplishing today.
Optional:
04 Comment on at least one fellow hacker's progress and give them a IH Point for their check in.
05 Share your Work In Progress to underscore your accomplishments!
Then tune in the tomorrow to share how you did on your own tasks!
EPIC:
By end of October users should be able to edit their accounts, add / edit / delete addresses and payment methods.
YESTERDAY:
Completely removed reliance on Redux and keep state server side and update React UI with refetching of GraphQL queries or updating Apollo cache with mutation body if applicable.
TODAY:
WORK IN PROGRESS:
https://merched.com - Create and sell custom merchandise with no upfront cost or risks.
Huh - so does the UI not update until a round-trip request is completed? Are you using subscriptions? I'm starting a new project and this seems like a really interesting approach.
Depends on the situation. Some stuff does not get updated until round-trip is completed, such as authentication. Other things use optimistic updates.
Yes I also will be incorporating subscriptions.
The reason for all this is not only do I have a website, but I also plan on having multiple mobile apps, a cli tool, and some other stuff that I'd rather not have to duplicate state handling.
Look great, Josh! Have you launched (and are adding new features)? Or are you pre-launch? If the latter, when do you plan to launch?
EPIC Finish my UX revamp, get Stripe, auth and LLC fully set up, and gather feedback from my first very small, informal beta.
Also participating in sober October - I'll be curious how it affects my side project stuff. So far, I feel like I've been getting way more done, but maybe that's a result of me being a hermit this weekend.
Yesterday Learning more and more about marketing and the application thereof for my project. Trying to solidify my message/audience/etc. as I build to make everything aligned. Also cranked a ton of code, made architectural changes to support non-app and app pages.
Today Start building the features that will require sign up and/or payment. My current thinking is to have several tiers
100% free, no sign-in (limited way to see the concept/value in action and be useful for people that don't need to dive deep). Also hoping it can help virality.
A free tier that requires sign in, opens up a couple more tools and gives me a way to communicate with the user.
Paid tier - not sure about specifics, but this is how you'll access deeper analysis, data exporting options, and other stuff I can't think of yet...open to ideas :)

Congrats on sober October. I've been sober since 2015 and it has had a profoundly positive impact on my life.
Rather than just going through it with your head in the sand for the whole month, try to make sure you keep up your social engagements -- but just realise that you have the will power and the choice to partake however you want.
Thanks Patrick, will keep that in mind for sure
Support non-app and app pages? Ah. Does non-app mean contact forms, landing, blog, etc?
In terms of ideas, I'd pay if the two most credible articles (one liberal, one conservative) for each of the top 10 trending topics, was delivered to my inbox daily.
Epic:
By the end of the month, allow makers to make accounts, save lists and make their own.
Yesterday:
Remade account sign in for creators, added in edit lists and recommendations.
Today:
Finish editing functionality for creators lists. Polish things up overall.
Work in Progress:
www.makerspartlist.com
Cool concept! Why Makers Part List? What's the "part"? And same question that I asked of Josh, are you pre or post launch?
EPIC:
By end of October, potential matches can make their own happy ending.
YESTERDAY:
Not a lot done yesterday due to a day long hike, but I did start wiring up the view to choose a happy ending.
TODAY:
Finish wiring up the view to choose a happy ending.
Add logic to confirmation view for happy endings chosen.
KUDOS: Pending others joining in!
