I've been greatly enjoying these threads, so I thought I'd keep the ball rolling...
Life is busy, breaks are important, but as indie hackers weekends can be the perfect time to make a big chunk of progress with side projects.
So with that said...
What are you working on this weekend?
I'm going to release the public beta for my SaaS, https://kanbanmail.app!
Cool. I didn't know what Kanban was until I read on. Kanban is already in your product name, so may change the title to say what your product does more plainly? Depends on who you want to target I guess and what search terms people are using.
The second question is what email services/integrations it supports?
That's great advice. I'll make some changes to the landing page before launch, and will definitely include those. I might link the word "Kanban" to an explainer section further down the page.
You are positioning your product as productivity tool and majority of those who are looking for that will know Kanban. If you want to be booletproof with the name you can use Trello board for reference.
BTW, it currently supports Google (Gmail, G-Suite) and Microsoft (Outlook, Hotmail).
Holy shit! You had me at Kanban! Although $12 per month is pretty hard core, I just joined your mailing list!
Thanks :D
KanbanMail is still in beta, so it's free for the moment. You will have received an invited already! I put the buttons there anyway, because now I know that a higher % of the people on the mailing list are willing to pay. I'll send some surveys to the mailing list about pricing a bit later. I'll also make it paid a bit before launching it so that I can experiment with prices. It's always easier to lower the price than to raise it!
I love your "created by an indie maker" section on the homepage :)
Good luck with the public beta release! Would love to hear updates!
Thanks 😀
I think it's always good to put a section like that because then people don't see you as a massive evil money-stealing corporation, and might even be more willing to support you!
Didn't know what Kanban was and it seems to be a pretty solid start! It might just be my device (Mac), but the page loads very slowly and it seems like after I click "Learn More" I'm unable to independently scroll.
Ethan - really like the idea. Good luck with the launch.
This looks great! Nice work.
I am planning to continue working on https://imageresize.xyz
launchaco for the win
Indeed.
I really like the simplicity of using a Slack slash command to initiate the resizing - I feel like it's more streamlined than filling out a form on something like http://resizeimage.net/. Good luck!
Thank you. I hope for some people it will make their workflow a lot easier.
I am building ListOff https://listoff.co, A Community to create lists for anything on Internet. I built the MVP and trying get feedback from early users.
Bookmarked for a later stroll. Looks interesting. One suggestion is to harness some OS content from GitHub there are some amazing lists (quite literally as they are called awesome-list-of-INSERT-TOPIC-HERE)
I am glad you liked it. Thanks for your suggestion :)
I added ESLint to the website version of GG - Goodreads for Video Games
It's taking me FOREVER to get all the changes made but I should be able to finish it this weekend. I'm trying to clean up everything before adding some much requested features and hopefully getting to the premium features soon.
Love the landing page, very sleek!
We are working on https://recast.studio and planning to launch it on IH next week
Hi, this is my first comment. 😉
This weekend I'll try to raise some funds to buy a new small laptop (a cheap Chromebook though).
I'm a full time student and I don't have time to work in a ordinary job. Also I can't do a lot of things online because the only device I have is a tiny smartphone in which I am writing now.
With this laptop I am going to be able to create some projects I have in mind.
Good luck.
Thanks!
That's awesome!
Thank you!
I'll be working on Remote Hunter and try to add a signup form for a daily newsletter of new job listenings.
very interesting... so who does the reviews?
Thank you. I do them myself. Today I did a bigger one and it took me about 2 hours. I think I can do 3-4 a day. If the demand grows, I'll have to start outsourcing some of the work.
I'm doing lead generation for customer development for a potential pivot for encharge.io
How does one go about getting awesome graphics like on the encharge landing page? The entire site looks really well done!
Thank you! Space graphics are from GraphicRiver, although with some changes I did in Illustrator – they didn't have the whole startup vibe with the app icons, etc.
Icons and the rest of the visuals I did myself.
Am I the only one who feels like pretty much none of the comments here are read?
People just post their projects. Could anyone explain why these threads would be interesting?
👀
The same as the previous one :). Automatically extracting screenshots with the pricing of products listed on www.saashub.com . Almost done 🚀
Just trying to make some progress on tactictaco.com. Got a landing page up with a lead magnet and a thank you page. Also had some bugs I needed to fix that are mostly fixed now.
I'm thinking about running some Facebook ad traffic to the landing page to see what happens. I'm not sure if the site is really ready for an influx of traffic yet but I suppose it is better to try now rather than get in too deep and find out the math just doesn't work. ¯\(ツ)/¯
Nice work. Seems pretty helpful. I've submitted it to www.saashub.com. You can verify it if you want to promote or modify it further ;)
I actually just released my free version https://tracehook.app. Little tool to intercept and eventually relay webhooks for testing/monitoring/debugging. Will be working a little on the subscription version this weekend. I would love some feedback!
I'm trying to get some sales emails and a newsletter written this evening
I guess I'm a bit late to the party but I like keeping an ongoing weekly standup here. As usual working on https://www.datagekko.com.
Last week:
Currently:
Keeping up with the quality of life improvements
Integrating Stripe for launch of my freeCodeCamp learning squads: https://www.bluedash.co/squads/freecodecamp
I've also got to do some prep work to set up the mailing lists and surveys to send out but that'll probably not happen until Monday!
Marketing plan, hiring channel managers and building campaigns.
Working on getting more traction for https://www.voicepods.com - trying to reach out to more influencers in the blogging space interested in publishing a podcast from their blog with a few simple clicks.
Going to look into more spotlights for the website tealigensia.com, trying to find more vendors to work with. Additionally I'm going to see if I can't find a different avenue to deliver the content (Wordpress doesn't seem to be the best but it works).
Right now: Generating some ideas for our next growth campaign & prioritizing them (while sipping on an ice cold coffee). Plus little things that I don't get to during the week like updating my LinkedIn profile, reading up on blogposts and some networking.
I'm adding more automated integration tests for my online form builder.
www.elementform.com
1.) earlystagenews.com - Working on a community for makers to submit milestones and have discussions with other early-stage founders > earlystagenews.threadbase.io
2.) https://founderstuff.xyz
I am working on an affordable alternative to email automation. https://usemat.com
I’m working on visualizing user data. You know, the fun stuff!
Gathered some interest for 💰 Startup Costs last week, so will work on finishing the prototype I had working.
Will be a side-project of my current main business 🚀 Muna.
You should probably remove the 'happy customers' section of Muna, or at least get quotes from people who aren't fictitious.
Oh, wow. That has been there since launch. Ouch! 🤦♂️
Should reach out to get some proper ones.
Thanks for pointing that out. 👍
Started on a small tool that allows to load scripts based on simple rules: url, time on page, scroll. This was very needed for a client but I hope others will find useful too:)
Writing another blog post and newsletter for https://remote101.blog and if time left I'll improve the theme a little :D
I recently launched paid plans for my website testing Chrome extension https://www.checkbot.io/ 🎉
After some sales and contacting customers, I'm ironing out some kinks in the on-boarding process this weekend.
I'm going to be working on improvements to the landing page for my customer announcement platform https://heydude.io
I'm going to check if football API works well with my app, improve my landing page and add some new functionalities (new filters and leaving betting contest). Everything to release my betting contests app as soon as possible: https://betfolks.com
I will be finding teachers (for youngsters) who are willing to make online courses for my platform.
I've just published my private beta for https://moneypin.io and will focus now on building community, gathering feedback and promoting my SaaS.
I am going to be working on my image resizer - https://imageresizer.online. It has had a recent visual upgrade but I think it might need another. The most important thing at the moment I am going to start on is to prompt users to share, bookmark or install my chrome extension to try and get higher retention.
Also going to start planning my next iOS app. Will share that soon hopefully.
Finishing the visual editor React rewrite for https://www.idiopage.com. Barely done any work on the product in the past couple of weeks as I've been focused on sales. I'm also very inefficient at sales so it feels like I haven't done much. Will be nice to sit down for a big block of time and write some code.
Making best snowboarding resorts list with a community called Daredevils Hub
Add new feature for my simple side project: https://susube.com/
Writing and designing a better "how to" documentation for my local classifieds webapp www.zimexapp.co.zw
I will be looking for more beta testers for https://www.portfoliospreadsheets.com
Down with fever the past week, so thought why not write a blog post on FileAgo, as I can't work on the project anyway. Just finished writing one a few hours ago - https://blog.fileago.com/2018/08/fileago-concepts/
I am looking for some feedback for my new product/IDEA. I am currently trying to validate it, started with a simple MVP and looking for some volunteers/early adopters
I actually asked a question to get some feedback, so if you use Slack I would love your opinion :)
https://www.indiehackers.com/forum/looking-for-feedback-on-my-new-idea-a-slack-communication-tool-for-remote-teams-bc26712666
Om going to do some light work this weekend, but mostly focus on other stuff.
I am currently waiting for legal documents, then I should be ready to launch a beta.
I'm pulling together all the final bits and pieces before next weekend when I launch the premium membership for www.StripTogether.co :D
So excited to start making this project more sustainable, and revenue focused.
(Cackle) Talk about jarring ... but this one in reverse! Very cool concept. And it looks as though you've already great traction. Given the name of the site, are there opportunities for folks to collaborate on the same strip?
Haha, thanks! All strips are made collaboratively with each panel drawn by a different artist - improv style 😎
Working on https://app.happyendin.gs. Profiles + filtering for a dating app is turning out to be a bitch. Hope to have both wrapped by the end of the weekend.
Best domain name :)
Just a thought - perhaps the genre page should act differently depending on the first page's selection. It could order the genres differently based on what the client is looking for, or provide different genre options entirely depending on the first selection. It's a bit jarring to click 'like' or 'love' and see anal at the top of the list.
Edit: Did you design those icons yourself? They're great!
That's a great point (and thanks for the feedback)! But ... challenging. Someone folks will use "like", but mean they don't want anything serious. And others will use "like" in the sense of, I'm just looking for a buddy. I'll give this more food for thought.
(Grinning) And if by "design" you mean swipe those suckers from The Noun Project and throw a gradient around 'em, then yes!
I'm working on making my own in-house Stripe integrated referral program using Zapier, almost done. Actually easier than I thought, and won't cost me anything. New flows on Zapier are pretty sweet.
I'm working on http://webdef.com
Research Companies.
Find the technologies used on a any company website, how much money they spend each month, and a list of their emails.
Still in the process of building out my index...
Very cool tool. What did you build this in?
Thanks! Not sure what part you're referring to with what did I build it in. It's a combination of a bunch of stuff but as far as the user facing site goes, not much http://webdef.com/search/296
