What did you achieve or build this weekend?

Hey everyone,

I know many of us use this time wisely and sacrifice fun in the weekend to instead get things done.

What did you achieve or build in this long weekend?

Personally, I worked with an external consultant on a broad research on pricing in Palar .

Looking forward to hear all of your answers!

Currently working on building the first version of Cronhub CLI. The CLI should make it a breeze to create monitors for all your cron jobs. I'm thinking to use Go so I'm spending my weekend learning it.

    1. 4

I know you said you're planning to use Go but I'd also suggest at least checking out Oclif (https://oclif.io/). I used it recently to build the CLI for my project and really enjoyed working with it.

      1. 2

Agreed. Building a CLI with oclif is a breeze!

    2. 2

My project is actually a CLI generator. Depending on how complex the CLI you want to build is, it might be a good fit for you:

      1. 3

Thanks, Omar. Will check it out.

    3. 1

This is a great idea, I and many coworkers have struggled with failing cron jobs and our current solution is to just hope that they work haha. You definitely have a large industry who needs monitoring but from a quick search looks like you have a lot of competition. Good luck!

      1. 1

Thanks! Maybe you could try Cronhub then? :)

        1. 1

So after a bit of looking it seems you only alert whether the cronjob runs on schedule or not, and runs longer than expected. An important part for me is the exit code and seeing the stderr if there is any. I'm not sure how hard that would be to implement, but would be very useful.

I added a new feature to My Thoughts (https://autenti.ca). Now you can ask for my last week mood report and My Thoughts will say something like:

Here's your mood summary for the previous 7 days. You reported 3 different feelings. You felt happy most of the time, 10 times to be exact, or 63%. You also felt excited, and good. You tracked your mood a total of 16 times.

          1. 2

            +1.😁

  8. 3

I looked for old blog posts of sites which review remote job sites and will soon send them cold emails why they should include Remote Hunter too.

    1. 3

      I loved your idea. 😀

And pricing is really accessible and on point.

    2. 1

      Hey Martin,

You may want to reach out to the owner of this repo to include RemoteHunter as well:

      https://github.com/yanirs/established-remote

It's the 2nd Google result for "remote companies"

We do data science and we're building a platform that lets you easily embed data science into web and mobile apps via API. (http://orchestrahq.com)

Putting the finishing touches to our initial launch. Polishing the website and testing a few things here and there on our SAAS app.

    1. 1

Interesting product - we may have a use case on Palar . Already signed up for the early access🙂

      1. 1

Brilliant :) Happy to talk through your use case

  12. 2

This weekend was all about helping pay the bills for me! So was teaching a coding bootcamp at General Assembly.

Tomorrow I’ll be back to working on Frontend Mentor!

  13. 2

This weekend I finished my design the landing page for my new SAAS startup which POS system, I would like to get your feedback on it from marketing perspective.

    http://axons-io.webflow.io/

    1. 1

I think the overall design is good, but it took me some time to understand it was an actual hardware sell, not just a POS system. Perhaps move that section to the beginning ?

      1. 1

I think we need be more clear about that we providing only software not hardware.

        1. 1

I guess I got a bit confused 😅 Thanks for clarifying

      2. 1

        Thanks Gabriel for your feedback,

but we don't sale hardware we just provide link to the website to make it easy for our customers to buy it

  14. 2

    Two things!

    1. Made a chrome plugin to help my coworkers perform some menial tasks I saw them do. (Pro tip: Show your coder colleagues what you do and ask them if they can automate it)

    2. Finalized a website for a client, really glad to be done with it since the project had been dragging on for a few months now :)

As we learn how to build an ecommerce brand (no ecommerce experience, strictly SaaS so far) we've decided to focus a lot of our attention on social media. Specifically, we've decided to tweet about our niche as much as possible. This weekend, we had our first successful tweet (in our eyes) and it felt really cool. Gained some followers organically instead of from friends/family. Very exciting from two founders that aren't used to social media marketing.

  16. 2

I recorded and published a video on YouTube " How to authenticate users with Vue.js and Firebase?

I posted in on the vuejs subreddit and it's got around 30 upvotes so far :-)

If you're into learning Vue.js, I suggest that you start following my channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfVoYvY8BfTDeF63JQmQJvg

  17. 2

I built the ability to deploy podcasts from Voicepods.com. This will allow any project to be submitted to various podcast applications like iTunes or Google Play Music.

  18. 2

Building website called Daredevils Hub. It's a List of best snowboarding resorts with interesting data about them and hoping to build a community around it.

Got my first patron on http://patreon.com/swapnilagarwal

    Super pumped right now! :D

Worked on implementing new mock Date and Time fields for our mock API as well as streamlined documentation section. Should be much easier for developers to get started with API now.

I fixed bugs and paid off some tech debt. It sounds unglamorous and it is, but that's how real progress happens.

  25. 1

Gave myself a crash course on Lambda, Serverless, and Docker. Feeling like I can achieve some interesting things with that new knowledge so I've started crafting a new MVP in the music space.

  26. 1

created a hourly rate calculator for freelancers. it's a weekend project that took 1-2 days but weird thing is it's attracted more people than actual product: https://myrate.codestunts.com

  27. 1

@gabep The Palar site is slick; great job! Seems like a solid business model. I wish you the best of luck!

As for what I did this long weekend... I got a fledgling discord bot up on my server to monitor freelance/permanent job postings and post them in the #jobs channel. It's super simple, but would love to get some feedback. Here's an invite if anyone is interested in checking it out: https://discord.gg/eHT26dc

Enjoy the rest of your short week everyone!

Launched an amazing Gamification process inside Customerly.io

We wanted to improve the conversion rates of important steps for us like:

    • Integrate the live chat code

    • Import contacts

    • Invite teammates

    • Setup email forwarding

    • Create a smart assignment rule

    • Download mobile app

So we released a system that allows our customers to extend their free trial by completing those actions.

We did it right because we are having amazing results!

    So proud of my team!

  34. 1

    I built and launched https://teamtastic.co

Started coding middle of last week and this morning I have 4 signups to the MVP.

Solved a huge database issue that could have ended up costing me thousands of $$ with Firebase. I was querying and sorting every user on every button tap. I ran into this article and it forced me to look at the way I was making my DB calls: https://hackernoon.com/how-we-spent-30k-usd-in-firebase-in-less-than-72-hours-307490bd24d.

Also implemented some features that users had been asking for, like more information available in-app.

    I can breathe out now...

Finally finished up a working version of the core functionality of www.contractsummit.com

Users can now customise a contract, electronically sign and send to client. Client signs it and that generates invoices automatically based on data in the contract. Invoices are then converted to pdf and sent to the client.

  39. 1

Grappled with how to split out my offerings over at Generous Work and ended up splitting them into products & services. Also pre-launched FreelancerPM as a freelancer management system. More to come!

  40. 1

I've been continuing to build out my fun little replacement for Requestbin. https://tracehook.app/

Would love some feedback if any of you are looking for a tool like that.

  41. 1

Redesigned the homepage of www.Welcome.AI I would love any feedback and suggestions.

Finally (after 3 weeks) launched our first Productized Service! That was a huge achievement this weekend. It's a done-for-you conversational customer service chatbot service for startups and small businesses called Prescriptive.

The chatbots are based on machine learning, fully customized and support customers/drive sales 24/7.

Our results came in for our beta customer and we were blown away so that promoted me to get moving! Nothing like some good motivation and a long weekend.

These are NOT like Chatfuel or any those things. This is conversational chatbots....customized, handmade and much much different and focused on supporting customers and driving sales for business owners that can't afford to hire additional staff or want to scale quickly.

I am trying to connect with at least 3 developers on various forums who are interested in emotional insight and analytics before Tuesday: I found 2. Anyone here? :)

  44. 1

I studied Docker and cleaned out all the junk from my dorm room. Overall, a good, if boring, weekend

  45. 1

Well I finally released my service as a beta, it included some stuff I had been working with for a rather long time. Such as signup/login on the web, a dashboard to handle most parts of the API and finally an interactive demo on the landing page.

I know it's not perfect, but now I have a solid ground to build from!

I just launched a landing page for my project - Autocast

It's a service that helps you to automate a podcast production

  48. 1

Added file upload support to my workflow web app.

  49. 1

I actually took some time away from work to focus on my new house, but still ended up spending a lot of time on client projects.

I really need to sink my teeth into something of my own again!
