Is anyone else getting this feeling that there is more to linkedin than we (as 'indie' hackers) give it credit?
What do you guys use LinkedIn for? If Twitter's zen is fast, hypercharged conversations, Instagram's is beautiful photos showing the sunny side of life, what is LinkedIn's zen?
I recently read someone's blog post shared on IH about launching a LinkedIn leads service and hitting some 30+k MRR within a few months. I want to know if you guys think LinkedIn is valuable or not.
Oh it is! I've got great leads for business, future career prospects, some partnership opportunities and lots of event/resources via Linkedin.
While there may be other platforms/avenues for the same, I don't think this one can be discounted.
Would love to connect with fellow indiez: www.linkedin.com/in/suhasmotwani
Great to know. What did you feel worked to help you find your sweetspot in LinkedIn?
I don't think I've found the sweetspot yet, cuz of the sudden boom in the "influencers" and "like" games going around which is kinda spammy.
But when it was cleaner, I could actually find some really useful content, connected with a couple of folks who I can now reach out to for anything, career prospects worked cuz I didn't have to depend on the entire "jobs" section. So I guess it can be used as a good business portfolio tool as well. Showcase --> Engage --> Get noticed --> Do business
What is your take on this?
I don't have a take per se so I'm in the process of collecting viewpoints.
Here's what I have found so far -
Businesses targeting other business seem to swear by LinkedIn
A social media marketer I know seems to think LinkedIn's ad spend RoI is second only to Facebook for their particular niche.
These data points make me want to learn more about what sorts of people hang out on LinkedIn and for what reason. It seems really silly to discount an entire audience because of my own ignorance about LinkedIn.
