What type of marketing is posting on Reddit?

I might have a silly question for you all.

I'm often reading posts where the consensus of hiring freelancers for marketing is: "Use the channels that have working for you best and enforce them".

Well, my content marketing doesn't work too good. My social media generates traffic from time to time, but not too good either. Where I get the most paying users is actually from posting to specific subreddits such as /r/mentors and /r/CodeMentor. But what is that channel called and how can I enforce it? It's not exactly social media marketing...

Agree with @tt, it more of a community marketing than social media marketing. One thing to consider is Redditors hate self-promotion, so make your post very cautiously. Also one more advice before posting anything in subreddit, be super active for at least one week. People try to engage with content from familiar names. I hope this helps!

  2. 1

Reddit is a channel of online marketing.

Reddit is a social media website and from my experience you need to know how the site works to be able to get attention of users there. So it falls under social media marketing.

  3. 1

I would almost classify it as community marketing depending on what you post to these sub-reddits.
