Hey @csallen, why did you decide to go podcast only without video? It seems like little extra work to set up a camera while interviewing people ala Ycombinator Podcast . @Everyone what do you guys think about video as a channel for startup content marketing? Is it just me or do the view counts on business/startup channels seem kind of low ?
Personally, I don't see the value in having a video with the podcast. Other than extra bandwidth, what does it add? Since IH doesn't run on ads, it seems the extra time isn't worth their work?
youtube is jut another source for user aquisition
I would subscribe to the Youtube channel :)
Quick answer: I have a limited amount of time and large number of things to work on + I don't know much about YouTube as a distribution channel + I haven't seen prominent examples of others in this niche succeeding there ==> I'm choosing to spend my elsewhere, e.g. improving the on-site community or investing in SEO.
That said, video is something we may explore in the future when we have more bandwidth.
thats what i figured. I was also surprised that so few indiehackers are using this channel
I personally prefer this method: audio/podcast. Whenever I listen to interview/podcast on youtube, it's usually in the background.
Very content with how things are atm.
ok some more evidence against youtube.
Look all the betalist interviews are on youtube and they have a TINY number of views https://www.youtube.com/user/betalisttv/feed
Pretty sure most podcasts isn't done in person, probably over skype or something like that?
I'd love to see IH on Youtube! YouTube is my main source of entertainment, but I also love subscribing to Podcasts - especially if it's geared toward entrepreneurship/hacking. The thing I like about YouTube is that I can put it on 2X speed - so I get the information in half the time (it gets some getting used to). Also, I think it'd greatly boost IH's audience!
