Ryan, solid interview. I would love to learn more about how you got better at sales. Sales is a totally different thing for me.

I think the only way to get better at sales is to "get your reps" in. Start with a simple script or way to frame the conversation, and after many conversations you might have an idea of what things resonate with people more than others, and refine your script over time. I'm far from a sales expert though, and I rely a lot on my SEO expertise to sell.. I have a newfound appreciation for sales people.

Ryan, thanks for the follow-up. I am learning little by little. Its getting easier to walk right into a place and start a conversation with a business owner.

    My main takeaways:

    • You can get by without much of a product if you're good at sales

    • Having a co-founder is very beneficial to have someone with you through the tough times

Just started listening to the podcast and ended up devouring it - really love the more in-depth conversation and the focus on how to do a certain thing (seo, content marketing etc) rather than on the story of building the business. Keep it up :).

Some good SEO nuggets. I especially liked when he validated the idea for my product! Use your Google Search Console Data – I'm looking at you, Courtland ;) And know if you are ranking at the top of page two for any keywords, as a small effort/change can get you on page one. https://clickpost.io helps with both! It was exciting to hear Ryan emphasize these things.
