The Story of WorkFlowy: From $0 to $800,000 a Year with Jesse Patel

Episode #037

Jesse Patel and his cofounder Mike built a product good enough to attract 20k new users/month with no marketing. But it's not all roses. Co-founder disputes, competitors and clones, money problems, and real-life responsibilities have kept them on their toes. Jesse doesn't shy away from describing any of the ups and downs that come with building a rocketship product.

After listening to this episode, I tested workflowy and it really is intuitive. Great episode!

Great interview! WorkFlowy user since 2010. I love everything about WorkFlowy and how it lets you free flow ideas into an easy to manipulate form factor.

Really good, very similar to all these non-fiction stories, but in any case, far from ideal, for me this is the story of Edgar Allan Poe samples https://studydriver.com/the-tell-tale-heart-essay/ crazy, but also talented at the same time. For work and as an example of such a thing, you can use it and it looks clear. I recommend everyone to read, you will not regret the time spent.

Hope you never stop doing these podcasts. I am enjoying the shit out of them every morning during my workout.

I love Jesse's passion and vision. He seems very driven but in a chill kind of way. :) I hope he achieves his dream in this life.

This company/product is my first real world data point on what Gary Vee meant when he said "I see companies making $2m (and thinking they made it) and if I were running your company it would be doing $19m" (I'm paraphrasing but that's pretty much it).

Like what a great product and the marketing just isn't there. Why? Make a brilliant marketer a part of the core executive team.

This was a great episode. I try to stay up on cool productivity tools. It's really cool when a new one (to me) falls out of the sky.

I'll be checking this out to see if it helps me organize my blog writing.

After this episode I recovered my password from Workflowy and saw some interesting goals I had back in the day. Interesting to see the progress haha!
    Great episode Jesse and Courtland!

I don't have an hour right now to listen to this, I just want to point out that I'm a workflowy user for about 3 years now, and it barely changed since I started using it, which sometimes can be a good thing - not to force new features - but in this case, the development stagnated compared to the advances in how we use technology. The mobile apps aren't useful for anything other than reading, and sometimes can outright mess up your data. Integration with any calendar is non existent, higher order organizing is not possible. Basically the lack of an API or some other form of extendability holds Workflowy from fulfilling it's potential. Maybe I'm wrong and it will make it more cumbersome to use, but at the moment I'm waiting on your competition to further improve on Workflowy (especially in the mobile department) at which point I'll reluctantly move over.

I'll catch up on this interview when I'm commuting.

TL;DR: I love your product and use it every day, but you should have an API or plugin system :)

I'm surprised the landing page is that basic... Also surprised we don't see pricing page, or am I missing it.

There is a Go Pro button at the bottom right corner.
